What year was that Rig Invented? I was there in 88 living in Charleston and us Zara Spooks to do the same thing, I was even approached at Blacks Camp dock by several Fisherman about what I was using. Just Wondering. I also used Balloons for Larger Baits with a Swivel and Clasp, use the open, close clasp and put it into lip of balloon it works great.
KC Nelms in 84 or 85 I believe.
Back in the late 70s I would twist up Soldier and use it for a drag weight and use a cork to keep bait off the bottom in the Cooper River, the Guides would always look and ask, some started copying it. @@PalmettoCats
Great channel. Wish i would have found it before I fished there a couple of weeks ago. My parents bought a house there and i came down from Pennsylvania to try my luck on some catfish. The lake is huge and gets really rough when storms come through. I almost sunk my boat in a storm. Scarry stuff. My boat is a 16' vhull walkthrough and we took a beating . I slow trolled with dead herring and caught a couple of small blues. Realized sitting in one spot wasn't gonna work when you dont know the lake. Coming back in the fall and will catch em up after watching your videos. Thanks.
I appreciate it. Yes, the lakes can be dangerous. 16' is small when it comes to those giant waves. I suggest dragging or trolling baits. Anchoring is best before and after the sun comes up in the shallow areas of the lake.
I've been watching this channel for bout 8 months now, and I watch several episodes at a time usually and just so EVERRYYYYYKNNOOEEES know I've been fishing the Santee River since I was 19 and I'm 50 now and he gives great advise...both fishing and he's includes the family and friends. Never met him but hopefully I'll see him on the lake or river or" one of HIS islands lol, if u haven't seen his camping episodes. Keep doing what your doing bud, your buds enjoy watching
Thank you Richard.
Off shore planner boards are the best in my opinion...they have 2 styles of clips on one board.....one stays in place and one pops off....so you fight the fish and not the board.....and in turn also, when it pops it goes to the back of the boat and doesn't tangle with the other planners
I've heard of those.
Great video! Thanks
Great video and good info. It was nice talking to you in person in the canal Saturday morning. We got into some nice blues Saturday night.
Thanks Richard. I'm glad ya'll ended up getting into them.
heck yea bubby. im gonna have to set mine up like that i was talkin to my ol lady about a rig similar to that but i like that set up better i believe lol keep on keepin on bubby its hard to be this good all the time lol
Right on! Do it!
Another good video makes me miss the place even more than I already do
Thank you!
Great video. Never used a rig like that, I need to give it a try.
It’s very effective
Great Video Kevin. Awesome edit 👍
Thanks Brent!
I got the trolling part down. The fishing part, well, not so much
Lol me neither
That's why they call it fishing and not catching.
Well done brother Great video
Thanks man
Can you tell me what you were using to pull your fishing line when you were hung?
It’s called a snag stick. You can get them online at tacklebandit.com
Thank you for the info.
No problem
Awesome video Kevin
Thanks Mike
Go bless bubby
You too.
Great video
Thanks!
Great video Kevin… I personally like to drift my baits most times in my kayak. I need to figure out a wind sock to get for it, to slow me down some.
Try a five gallon bucket with some holes in it at first.
@@PalmettoCats is there a certain way to set the bucket up? As in take the handle off and tie the rope directly to the bucket, and is it a bunch of holes all over the bucket?
try this th-cam.com/video/0AXIYNJfN6c/w-d-xo.html
@@PalmettoCats didnt even get this message notification 😤.. watched it and doing it tomorrow. Thank you sir
Hey bud, I drift Santee a lil but mostly the Santee River above the lake and I do it in a pontoon and it's a formula between weight/water displacement and wind/ current. Hit ole Google and they'll explain it to u but the first drifters used buckets with holes in em. I'd try going to my mom and pop seafood place and ask for their Ouster buckets. They have handles and u can take a small drill with u and get a good idea of what might work for u and the cut down a drift sock when u figure it out. Just remember u need at least 10to1 water displacement or less on the intake side(front) to start with. Hope this didn't bore u to death and it helps lol
Have you used the new brute series demon dragons are they better for bigger baits!?
Haven't got them in the mail yet. I should be getting them soon.
I’m waiting on mine to. Ready to see how they handle a hand size piece of cut bait!
Great video brother
Much appreciated
