Nice video! Have you guys ever done a similar comparison of software piano VSTs and similar? As a non-pianist (I’m primarily an EWI player), I don’t need/have space for an amazing physical piano, but I would be down to splurge for a nice VST if I felt like I had a good recommendation from pianists I trust (that’s you guys!). 😁

For me it would be a Vintage Vibe, but if I was live in something bigger than a shoebox then Fazioli or a Yamaha grand.
Bosendorfer are so rich in harmonics and overtones they are very hard to mic and record. All those overtones start to muddy the bottom end when recorded. That part of the reason I like Yamaha so much they are bright and punchy and take well to microphones.

I love listening to this as a vibist and drawing parallels to different vibraphone brands

Thanks for everything you guys do for the piano community! I've found that Keyscape didn't do it for me. I've been making solo piano albums a long time and use one of two options these days...1 is the "nice piano" from the Roland Cloud JV 1080 which I am very familiar with and 2 is the Logic Steinway. It takes a lot of tweaking to do a solo piano album without a real piano but I'm pretty close and my listeners don't seem to mind. To hear the difference, I'm using the Roland on "Wise Man and the Ballerina" which came out in Feb and the Logic Steinway on "Winter Dreams III" which is a lot darker sound. One of my teacher friends just told me about Open Studio and I'll be headed over there today to check you guys out.

I have always loved the Kawai. Bought the GM series 3 yrs ago. Play on Roland and Kawai 88 digital keys.

I have a brand new Kawai GL 30 5’5, it sounds amazing. The bass notes are fine. Rich and colorfull sound on the mediums. Crystal clear treble. Good M3 action. I think I will keep it a long time.

Great choice. I've played Steinway, Bosendorfer., Yamaha, and always preferred Kawai. Had opportunity about 3 yrs ago to play on their 250k dollar Shigeru Concert Grand. Amazing experience.

Something to keep in mind is that Kawai (Boston pianos) and Pearl River (Essex series) are made for Steinway. Kawai doesn't incorporate its innovative technology into the Boston brands.

not peter playing along to the theme.
this is BASIC but yamaha p121. feels great and only 73 keys portable simple and i love being able to control volume so i dont blast my ears while i practice some impossible bar of Bach for 40 hrs a day.

You didn’t talk of C. Bechstein. Definitely one of the top piano makers in the world from Germany 🇩🇪

Thanks. As someone trying to learn a little jazz, coming from noodling on electronic keyboards and synths... this is probably more useful to me in terms of which ones to try in Pianoteq😜. I knew of Bosendorfer from Tori Amos, and Fazioli (sp?) from software name drops, pretty much. So, this is educational.

I got to play Steinways in college. They were very very nice. My granny had a Kimball spinet. It's in a basement right now...
