I feel like that only works for problematic, but dead artists and/or consuming fanworks or having nostalgia for the work of living problematic artists (ex: JK Rowling; no one likes her, but people are understandably nostalgic for a dear childhood book) When it becomes an issue is when problem artists are alive and profit from fans, regardless of ‘separation.’ Like with Rowling, she for sure still makes money from Universal Studios and whatever official merch is bought. This is a problem, as she has admitted to being a lobbyist for anti-trans legislation in Britain. Now, I’m not saying you should pirate the works of problematic artists. I’m just saying you should pirate from problematic artists, in minecraft.

There's A LOT of bad eggs in the fur fandom and it's pretty damn frustrating. I've been a furry for 18, almost 19 years and I remember when the fandom was a lot more.. light-hearted and friendly, now it just feels like everyone's constantly at each other's throats, attacking each other over meaningless things while letting people like Jasonafex/Kabier, Kero, Zaush and so much more get away with their horrid crimes. It's fucking disgusting how the fandom is now and it's why I kinda just.. cut myself away from it and keep contact with just my friends/very, very few groups.

I should try to avoid these people at all cost as an artist who draws furry characters and as an upcoming world builder myself. My will and sanity is very important.
I believe the furry community, like any other, faces its own set of challenges. However, addressing problematic individuals within it proves to be more complex than anticipated. I do agree that those who engage in harmful behavior should be removed from the community. The difficulty lies in awareness; many are unaware of these issues until they are brought to light through discussions or media exposure. Personally, I wasn't fully aware of the extent of these problems until others informed me or I encountered videos of what these people have done.
I think for the furry community especially it’s probably the hardest to get rid of the evil members of the fandom. Everyone hates the AltFurs, yet they’re those who defend the cub artists, pedos and especially the zoophiles.
There is a known zoophile who runs a furry convention. They are pretty quick to spread who isn't a good person. They are slow to removing the person because that just goes against how a lot of furries want to be and that's accepting of everyone.

There's a reason that I simply don't have any social media or any real social links whatsoever while in the fandom. Even if I buy a fursuit, it's unlikely I'll even really publicize my fursona in any form of media aside from maybe a discord chat. The way this fandom is, it's batshit crazy, and I'd rather not deal with the people who take much use of the internet in it, especially not the political ones who are 90% nutcases 💀 The Jasonafex case all the way to many others just convinces me I shouldn't really even get involved in being publicized or having a name in the fandom, I'd rather be that super elusive g-man in the background with a really well-made fursuit and character. That way, I don't even unknowingly have to keep contacts with people who are actually fucked up. That being said, the fandom isn't any different than the rest of the world now, it's not even an escape route like it was 10-20 years ago for people.
The SFW subreddits are really chill, and the fursuit ones gave me good advice. Smaller discord servers I found are also really chill. I am in a few furry discord servers, mainly ones of small TH-camrs, and it's mostly just memes. I am also active in a state level furry server. It's mainly just people chatting, nothing really to furry happening.
As someone within this.. *fucked* community, it’s good to see someone shedding light on it, there are truly some monsters behind those suits and Internet personalities, and I should know because I’ve had to deal with a ton of them. I've been a furry since I was 18, and a certain comic that I read about known as Fur-Piled was like a revelation to me. It helped me accept myself fully when I was having doubts about my sexuality in the past due to school bullies and some members of the family. Though, to this day, I kept my orientation identity and membership of the fandom from all around me irl a secret, including my family, to avoid a horrible reaction from them and the bad label that follows after. Since then, my only goal in the fandom is finding good circles to be in, make tons of friends, all in search for the right crowd to be in. So far, it's been nothing but a battle all around shifting from uphill to downhill and vice-versa. What I've learned is that the fandom is nothing but a popularity contest no matter where you look. Extending bridges to others was never this complicated. Nowadays, I see furries befriending each other because money was exchanged. Friendship is mostly "bought" instead of "built" on faith, trust, and (pixie dust lol kidding) loyalty. And majority rather keep supporting those who are already sitting on a high pedestal while the underdog (I count myself umong them) struggles to obtain even a fraction of what they have. Nobody gives the same amount of love to one who has nothing compared to someone who has everything. The Furry Community is not so different than society itself in the real world. And to think the fandom, just like the world of gaming, was an escape to get away... Not if it's filled with horrible individuals like these two.
You answered your own question as to why people continue to support these creeps: *They don't care.* Same as for video games, players don't care the dev company is involved in some shady sexual harassment stuff at the workplace or abused employees with crunch and/or bad living conditions, they just want to play the game and none of that affects them personally.

Regarding the Zaush situation, with the exception of using real life images, I wouldn't cast him out over something petty as an idea being expressed through fiction. Your concern is basically, "Other people will become bad if this one person expresses this idea." You shouldn't throw baby out with the bathwater. Instead of wanting Zaush to stop expressing ideas, it's more sustainable to hold people responsible for taking fiction into reality by acting on it. Otherwise, you'll just create an authoritarian state that is against ideas. There's no one being harmed with his fictional artworks. That warrants him deserving peace and not hate.

There's a reason that I simply don't have any social media or any real social links whatsoever while in the fandom. Even if I buy a fursuit, it's unlikely I'll even really publicize my fursona in any form of media aside from maybe a discord chat. The way this fandom is, it's batshit crazy, and I'd rather not deal with the people who take much use of the internet in it, especially not the political ones who are 90% nutcases 💀
The Jasonafex case all the way to many others just convinces me I shouldn't really even get involved in being publicized or having a name in the fandom, I'd rather be that super elusive g-man in the background with a really well-made fursuit and character. That way, I don't even unknowingly have to keep contacts with people who are actually fucked up. That being said, the fandom isn't any different than the rest of the world now, it's not even an escape route like it was 10-20 years ago for people.
The SFW subreddits are really chill, and the fursuit ones gave me good advice. Smaller discord servers I found are also really chill. I am in a few furry discord servers, mainly ones of small TH-camrs, and it's mostly just memes. I am also active in a state level furry server. It's mainly just people chatting, nothing really to furry happening.

I've been a furry since I was 18, and a certain comic that I read about known as Fur-Piled was like a revelation to me. It helped me accept myself fully when I was having doubts about my sexuality in the past due to school bullies and some members of the family. Though, to this day, I kept my orientation identity and membership of the fandom from all around me irl a secret, including my family, to avoid a horrible reaction from them and the bad label that follows after.
Since then, my only goal in the fandom is finding good circles to be in, make tons of friends, all in search for the right crowd to be in. So far, it's been nothing but a battle all around shifting from uphill to downhill and vice-versa. What I've learned is that the fandom is nothing but a popularity contest no matter where you look. Extending bridges to others was never this complicated. Nowadays, I see furries befriending each other because money was exchanged. Friendship is mostly "bought" instead of "built" on faith, trust, and (pixie dust lol kidding) loyalty. And majority rather keep supporting those who are already sitting on a high pedestal while the underdog (I count myself umong them) struggles to obtain even a fraction of what they have. Nobody gives the same amount of love to one who has nothing compared to someone who has everything. The Furry Community is not so different than society itself in the real world. And to think the fandom, just like the world of gaming, was an escape to get away... Not if it's filled with horrible individuals like these two.

Regarding the Zaush situation, with the exception of using real life images, I wouldn't cast him out over something petty as an idea being expressed through fiction. Your concern is basically, "Other people will become bad if this one person expresses this idea." You shouldn't throw baby out with the bathwater. Instead of wanting Zaush to stop expressing ideas, it's more sustainable to hold people responsible for taking fiction into reality by acting on it. Otherwise, you'll just create an authoritarian state that is against ideas.
