I still remember reading the novel when the first Timberwolf was encountered by the IS in combat. They were like "It's like a Catapult, but it has arms like a Marauder and it hits like a truck! It keeps firing!"
As a diehard Clan Jade Falcon person, I have to grudgingly concede that Clan Wolf did good in designing the Timberwolf.
Phelan kell the merc who made first contact with the omni-mech... kept getting an ID error (switching from MAD to CAT )whilst under relentless fire from lrms and ER laser shots.... You'd imagine the merc pilot would have blamed the error on system damage....but I believe it was ComStar that dubbed the Omni mech as Mad Cat.... And the irony of the vulture being named Mad dog by the Smoke Jaguar clan in mockery of Clan Wolf's first contact

I just realized how spindly and vulnerable looking those arms are compared to the new art style of Battletech.
Yeah. New Battletech is a lot more realistic, but this is truer to the original content

@@fair2guy Yeah, I came into the game through Battletech (2019) but I have some familiarity with the old designs, so seeing this based off the older Madcat design really put things into perspective (and then there's the original Jenner vs the new Jenner).
@@jacksonbowns1087 Yeah you'd be surprised- a lot of the clan mechs were like this. Summoner, Vulture, Nova, Kit Fox - I think the early design ideas were to make the clan mechs appear more alien and sophisticated than the clunky IS mechs
Only vulnerable if you can manage to hit them. Good luck keeping up with a clan mech and not being killed 2000+ meters away at standoff range, let alone landing a shot on such a small component.
Still a terrifying sight to behold

The Mad Cat. One of My best Battlemechs of My teams during my Mech Warrior Carrier. Fast and packs a heck of a punch. Definitely well rounded
Man, I the sound track and soundpak are great. MW2 series had the best of both and I like it here.

What is the best mech controller nowadays? Back in the day I used a thrustmaster + rudder peddles or the microsoft force feedback later on.
I use right hand mouse, left hand ps2 clone controller.

anyone else have crashes regarding the jump jet audio loop, I mean i cant even play the game now without getting a crash with or without mods
I remember this issue was related to MW2Betty. Removing it should be solved.
You should turn off xenopax art optimizer (regular optimize is still good) and just use enhanced mech shader instead.
The art optimizer makes the mad cat and mad dog mods have this really shiny chromed out look for every paint job outside the default. I also found it messed with mech textures when parts of armor were blown off, the part would be transparent. Not much performance was gained or lost disabling it.

While I love this design, I wish it was the same art style as the rest of the mechs in MW5. It looks sooooo out of place.

@@nathanielsmith7019 its a catapult with arms, it mounts 2 ppcs and 2 lrm 20s plus whatever clantech magic is mounted, anything that gets close enough to hit is probably going to be scrap metal
The Mad cat had a bit of a gangly appearance.... But you gotta factor narrow limbs as an advantage...so landing a direct hit would be a challenge, on top of that still out armoring anything the IS could throw at it.... Had clan wolf not been so stingy and allowed widespread production among the other clans, the inner sphere would have been royally bent over💯...if not that then a bloody attrition into a cease fire
Something to keep in mind that it is also considered an "Omni-mech" or a modular mech. A mech production tech that only the Clans had access to.
I'm guessing the arms can be used akin to our usb sticks. Just plug & play whenever we want to utilize it.

Why are the enemies are so dumb and weak, was this recorded on easy difficulty? Or just the modded weapons are so ridiculously overpowered? It seemed there was absolutely zero pressure on the player at all.
EVery video of this game that I see is no challenge. The enemies hardly ever hit you. Seems like a joke.
The Clan Invasion mod would be more up your alley, then. It has enemies that can kill you in an instant, even with tech like hardened armor.
Oh, and try “Better Spawns - Hard Mode” along with “Scary Tanks,” “Scary Turrets,” and “TTRulez AI.”
