Thank you. The step I was missing was having the swkotor.exe file into the high resolution patcher folder itself. Nowhere did it mention that.

I Found the solution kinda it was some person on a thread i cant remember... if your screen goes black about 80% of the way make sure to run the game on compatability mode for windows 7
this will also fix the game crashing when creating character or entering a cinematic
if your screen is too big when going in game make dure to right click your background click display and set it 100%

Thanks. I don't mind the pixilated portrait and what not. I'm just starting the game for the first time and I just hope it won't corrupt my save files after I played many hours.

Plenty of mods out there to upscale the menus, character portraits, pazaak, you name it. But the actual ingame display (map, party members) are so tiny they might as well not even be there, so even with all that patching you still end up with something that looks hacked together and not quite right.
Obsidian patched KOTOR2, why can't Bioware do the same??

That said, they really ought to remaster these games, jumping through all these hoops is kind of a pain.

to be honest the modder who created this did a pretty rough job, some UI elements are stretched so the borders of a lot of UI elements especially portraits during gameplay and the menu at the top right doens't match in slightest
I can't get my cursor to line up after the main menu, any solutions?
I am also having this issue. My create character box on my main menue is also almost entirely off my screen so not sure how that happened. :(

i tried for a long time to get this working in ultrawide (3440x1440). couldn't get it there, but found that it looks and runs great in 2560x1440 or whatever

I'm not getting an swkotor.exe and a swkotor.bak, I followed what you did not can't get the two files. :(
I followed the steps and now when I boot the game it boots up with the computer techy looking border but no buttons appear, no menu options, no start screen with Malak standing to the side or anything. Any clues what to do? I am a complete idiot when it comes to software so please keep explanations stupid simple :)
I try to not troubleshoot from the comments section because it’s hard to share screenshots, info, etc. but from what you’re describing, something went wrong with the uniws patch step. This typically happens when a) people skip the step entirely, or b) download the cracked executable, extract it to their desktop or downloads folder, copy it to their game directory, then in uniws hit “find it for me” and accidentally end up patching the executable on their desktop rather than the one in their game directory. I would recommend you start over, and when you do the uniws patch, make sure you manually locate the swkotor folder and patch that way, don’t let uniws find the executable for you.

Is there anything we can do to make it work on Windows 11?
I’m not aware of anything preventing it from working on windows 11, I’ve used it since I upgraded with no issues.
The map issues ruins it for me personally...
