I think that's the irritating thing about debating with these people tbh. People, sometimes even LGBT people, are willing to throw them a bone because "well it's just what they believe so you can't force this onto them". They think that I and other guys are gross or immoral for being into men but they want to be polite about it. I don't understand how some LGBT people can listen to people say that and still be like "well we can still be friends". A trans person being friends with a transphobic person feels weird to me because they don't even acknowledge such a huge part of your life, and they think you're playing pretend. I'd probably want someone else to be my friend in that case lol. "I don't judge you, I just think you're gross and you're doing something wrong" which is a judgment in and of itself.

Also, men only succeed at killing themselves more than women do. Equal amounts of men and women try to kill themselves, but men tend to use methods that are more likely to work (things like stabbing or shooting) and women tend to use methods that they are more likely to recover from (e.g. purposely overdosing on drugs)

As a trans guy who did have an abusive father who ultimately got arrested and passed away, when my first therapy asked me if I was trying to be my father I was physically repulsed. My father had nothing to do with me being transgender, I was even hesitant to physically transition cause I was terrified of looking like him, my father and the fear of being like him almost made me NOT transition. Having a bad father figure does not "turn kids trans" and having a bad home life can actually stop someone from socially or medically transitioning

The problem with cause and effect is, how can you really know? We can´t possibly know how we were affected by our upbringing as a child, we were not consciously aware of the influence then, and we can´t simply ´remember´. To simply dismiss the influence of upbringing is as silly and short sighted as claiming upbringing is the only determining factor.

I had already gone through that worrying thought process, and I realized that although he made me not like my body as it was, it was for other reasons than why I was trans. Sometimes I wonder if these allegedly straight dudes even like women. Personally as someone who is almost exclusively attracted to women and have many female/femme friends I've learned a lot from them about loving and emphasizing positive traits that being raised as a boy were often ignored or even looked down upon. I wish people could stop thinking about what's masculine or feminine and just do what's best for them. So many men and women are holding themselves back just because that's what their gender roles tell them to, it's sad. People look at gender nonconformity in an aesthetic, presentation-centric way but so much of it is internal. I don't think that's acknowledged often enough outside of and even in progressive spaces.

They all loathed me for being masculine and being physically more masculine (obviously that was out of my control). I was not welcomed into any kind of sisterhood or into womens spaces. I think one thing Buck really misses, and the conservatives cannot and will never understand, is that being trans is more than about 'expression.' At some point during the day, you stop expressing, but you never stop being. That isn't a choice, and having to act, having to _express,_ like something you're not that really makes the experience so painful. But if somebody looks at me and says, 'ah, yes, a very convincing simulacrum of a man, very creative,' then clearly I have not expressed what I am to that person in a way which delivers the message.

As a trans woman I always laugh at the whole positive male role model thing.
My dad was arguably the best role model a person could have, but no amount of amazing male role model would make me a man. He is a calm, nurturing, respectful, understanding, intelligent and strong man. He's a network manager and bodybuilder with the most joking, loving personality I've ever seen. With all of that said, a massive part of what made me realize I was trans was how much I looked up to him as a person, yet didn't want to actually turn out like him, no matter how amazing he is. I wanted to be calm, loving and nurturing, but I didn't want to be a man.
I went to the gym with him for years and instead of looking at myself being a better looking man with pride, I met mirrors with indifference at best, and confused disgust at worse. I received compliments with dejection and I soon realized something was not right.
It just blows my mind that even in 2022 people still think I somehow chose, or wanted to be trans, and that it was a result of my environment. If I could be happy turning out my dad, I would do it in a heart beat. But nothing in life brings me more dread than having to live the rest of my life as a man, no matter how much praise I would get for it.

They live a life where their mind matches their body and don't even have the remotest of conceptions what is going on. The only way the three conservatves could even understand is if we could somehow magically place them into female bodies with all the expectation on them to act like women. I know everything sucks and especially at your age and it doesn't seem like it right now, but things are improving. The reason that we are seeing people pushing back so much on trans rights is because trans voices are finally getting heard and those in power hate seeing minority groups gain strength.
When I was your age I had no idea there was such a thing as trans people and I'm only 28 now. Things have changed so much recently for the better and it's easy to see all the negative, but that's because people are resistant to change and to what they don't know. If we stay positive and keeping looking up, they will never win.
I'm also writing this comment for myself just as much as I am for you. It's so easy to see what's going wrong in the world, but there's also so much going right. There are so many people on your side and our voices are loud and getting louder.

Something I wish the trans men had brought up is that when your parents deny your reality, it affects the love you have for them, and the love that you perceive they have for you. It shows that their love is no longer unconditional, their support isn't unconditional. Coming out at 13 and being told to wait until I'm 18, has done nothing. At nearly 19 they still deny it, and that has put a massive strain on our relationship. I can't disconnect my transness from myself, so to have that part of me dismissed, seen as a joke, it told me as a child that a huge part of who I am doesn't matter. I wish there was a way to make cis people understand the impact of this without sounding sensitive or 'feminine' for having these emotional experiences.

as someone born a women and still identifies as a woman but who's always been sort of a "tomboy", being confused for the other gender hurts no matter the context. I remember being like 10 and having short hair and being mistaken as a boy in public and it felt bad cus I KNEW I was a woman, but I just liked my hair short cus it's more convenient for me. In fact you could argue that having more of a tomboyish appearance at a young age doesn't "turn you" trans, as the older sister who's more "boyish" I always played the prince when me and my sister played prince and princess; but I'm a woman at heart and anatomically.
a child acting more masculine or looking more masculine doesn't always mean they're questioning or are trans, they could just be more comfy in boy clothes cause they are more loose fitting or they don't want to have to brush their hair in the morning.

That's interesting. I have an experience of being a tomboyish girl and the thought of being mistaken for a boy never bothered me, but i also didn't think it was possible. In my early twenties i cut my hair short and suddenly every shop I went to or other public spaces ppl started referring to me as sir. I was a bit confused about how that's possible, partly amused and partly excited. I never corrected anyone and it was quite entertaining to see ppl trying to figure out who they're speaking to. Im not a man. Intellectually I know I'm a woman but I don't really feel like one. I'm trying to present some feminity because I got extremely tired of people (both family and random stragners) commenting on my appearance at all times when it turns out im a woman. The audacity of some people is really shocking, the moment you step out of their idea how people in general should be they'll let you know, and not very politely at that. Women are meant to be pretty after all, what you're doing isn't making you pretty:) (that's the bottom line of these comments)
It's interesting to see a perspective of somebody with a strong sense of identity and I love to see the breaking of stereotypes. Some forget that masculine and feminine traits are just that, traits and even though there are general tendencies they can appear in a person of the opposite sex cause theres always going to be outliers. And clothes worn are just that - clothes. As you said, they won't magically entice a person to change their gender or want to transition. Sometimes I think it's more convenient for a certain group of ppl to believe that if a girl or woman is boyish she must be trans, because how can there possibly exist women that aren't the way they imagine women should look and act like, they're certainly not "real women" 🫠 the hypocrisy of that paired with "external changes don't define person's sex or gender, biology is the most important" and then sqeauling about somebody putting on some rags that aren't aligned with the traditional gender expression is ridiculous xD

Not sure about you but most people use they without even thinking about even when they fall into a gender so to me this isn’t a “win” for the lgbt side necessarily. And it helps to kinda bridge the gap between both sides because it allows Gilbert to talk about his friend in a way that makes them hopefully both feel somewhat comfortable. Is ideal? No. But it allows these two people with opposing beliefs to move on and talk about things out side of gender and develop a friendship. I feel like this a good way for conservatives who don’t believe in changing of gender to go about this and I would be happy to see more of this as opposed to international mis-gendering them. I understand that this might not work for all Tran people but it does seem like a kind of middle ground.

Rainbow is one of his FAVORITE things. but he's confident in being a boy. I never set gender stereotypes for my kids, my son has really long hair and people even in my family bully him to get a haircut all the time, he declines. He gets mistaken for a girl ALOT because he has more androgenous features. But if my son came to me as a teenager and told me he wanted to transition, other than any type of surgery, I'd agree. Hormones can be reversed, but the issue with the word " transition " is there is quite a few stages to it. If my son was to go on hormones, change his pronouns, and then didn't feel okay about it, it's reversible.I don't see why this is a big argument. Let kids be kids man, let them choose their path. All we're supposed to do as parents is love and support them, not cage them and make them who we want. It's like the " what if your kid came out gay " when I was in HS, like... just love them anyways or your a crap parent.

Although GIDS advises this is a physically reversible treatment if stopped, it is not known what the psychological effects may be.
It's also not known whether hormone blockers affect the development of the teenage brain or children's bones. Side effects may also include hot flushes, fatigue and mood alterations."

She said “you can be what ever you want to be.” I honestly believe that she had zero intention of taking it back, because other times she would just walk into my room, tell me that i hated her, and i should stop being depressed. @@07Flash11MRC Yes it's unfortunate for some women because they would have loved to have child bearing organs, it's also unfortunate for poor women who can't get these surgeries & trans women who are too poor to under go trans surgery. So yes it's all unfortunate for some people.
Just bc few Women don't have uterus doesn't give any one else the right to say they want to cut their penis off and become a woman, just bc few Women can't give birth doesn't automatically make anyone who can't give birth a woman, there's literally no sense in that, if so then all men are already women. There's no need for any distinction anymore. Let me explain it to you again
Just because some women don't bleed & get their period DOESN'T EQUAL to a man who doesn't have periods to say he's a woman too.
It's not the same thing, you don't have a uterus because you're a man, she's a woman with no uterus or she simply has a "problem", trans women were healthy men, so you can't really compare the two. Some women don't breast feed because they have fake boobs, that doesn't mean a man with boobs can point and say "look, she can't break feed too, we are both the same, if one of us isn't a woman then non of us are" just because Betty decided to get breast implants doesn't make you a woman, just because some women can't give birth doesn't make you a woman. Betty was bio born, with some altercations. You can still out fight Betty in strength & speed.
If you've had any plastic surgery that wasn't life threatening then yes you are a fake bodied person. Trans women and men are man made, silicone, plastic, fake.
Trans people are fake people & people are people, you can't just decide what u are when nature is against it. I hear trrans women torn 😿 keeps closing up like an injured piercing, that's nature speaking up. You're wasting ur time arguing with me, I simply just think trans women are not on the same platue as women, I mean look at how they are dominating women's sport, that's no coincidence.

@@marianmeletlidiscrap Yes, there is plenty of nuance. However, a few basic things have to be understood and accepted. First of all, why do we have sex in the first place? For procreation. Period. In the human species, we are sexually dimorphic, meaning we come in 2 distinct forms: male and female. We are also anasogamous, meaning we procreate by the uniting of the large, non-motile gametes produced by the females and the small, motile gametes produced by the males. VERY strictly speaking, in biology, ALL small gamete producing members of a species are referred to as "male" and all large gamete producing members are referred to as "female". For example, sea horses are a species where the males give birth. Yet, they are still referred to as "male" because they produce the small, motile gametes.
From a strictly biological perspective, humans aren't much more complicated than that. However, differences in sex development (DSDs, often referred to as "intersex") cause some individuals to go slightly "off track" on the way to developing the anatomy and functioning to produce either large or small gametes. This does not make them "between" male or female, nor does it make any of them a true hermaphrodite (no such thing has ever been observed in the human species). The vast majority of humans with DSDs are very definitely male or female but because of ambiguous genitalia, it may take a DNA test to determine what the official situation is. Either way, there is no 3rd gamete and no 3rd procreative function in humans therefore no 3rd sex.
As far as gender goes, I'm not sure any biological basis for gender has even been explained. We would have to find whatever mechanism in the brain causes one to feel an incongruance between their internal sense of self and the outward anatomy of their dimorphically sexed body. That hasn't been discovered yet. In other words, no one knows what causes gender dysphoria. It would be interesting, and possibly incredibly helpful to those who suffer from gender dysphoria to know what truly causes it. Perhaps we could develop a way to predict for sure when medical transition will definitely give the best outcome for the mental health of an individual.

Here is what they say: "Little is known about the long-term side effects of hormone or puberty blockers in children with gender dysphoria.
Although GIDS advises this is a physically reversible treatment if stopped, it is not known what the psychological effects may be.
It's also not known whether hormone blockers affect the development of the teenage brain or children's bones. Side effects may also include hot flushes, fatigue and mood alterations."

I was kinda frustrated that nobody pointed this out. It was so glaringly painful for me to see that man talk about how being trans (which he defines as an ideology or belief system, which is dumb in itself) is the belief that your gender must be validated by other people. That is how ALL gender is validated, for trans and cis people. If a cis woman were to be called a man, and people called her by he/him, she would be invalidated as a woman by society, and possibly feel demeaned and degraded and, yes, “devalued”. If a cis man were to be called a woman, and people referred to him by she/her, he would also feel these same things. And this DOES happen! Cis women have been insulted by being called too masculine, and cis men have been insulted by being called too feminine, this isn’t an issue isolated to trans people. Gender is a societal perception for many, and especially for the cis. Gender requires validation of other people for many. And of course, this is just one type of view on gender, as many people believe gender is internally whatever you feel and it doesn’t matter what other people think, but even to the logic of this conservative that “being trans is to be worried about other people’s perceptions and that is unhealthy” is insane because that’s not what it means to be trans… that’s what it means to be a human who operates in a society that gives you roles. This happens with age too, where you can be called old when you are actually young, or called young when you’re actually older. This happens with race, especially multiracial or adoptees who do not fit the prescribed “social role” given by their society. All identity is intended to require validation, otherwise we cannot signal our identity to others. It would be great to live in a society where you didn’t have to care about what people thought about your age, race, gender, or whatever and just be treated with respect no matter what, but that is not the society we live in and it’s so insane to say trans people should just not attempt to integrate into society, especially when these same conservatives ridicule transgender people for not WANTING to integrate into society.

Literally, Gilbert can go suck it. He's incredibly arrogant while also showing a shocking amount of ignorance, whioe still trying to seem "holy-er than thou". He's not a friend to that trans man, he's a douche and I hope that his pal drops him quickly. ESPECIALLY after seeing this!

Definitely hope the “friend” has already long written Gilbert off but in a “I don’t wanna hurt anyone’s feelings and you’re… not throwing slurs so I’ll just… not talk to you if you don’t talk to me”
And Gilbert is just too ignorant to grasp that they’re not actually friends

Just don’t let the rhetoric of “would you prefer as trans child or deceased child “ emotional blackmail to cloud your judgement. It’s sick on kids and parents and the monsters perpetuating that should be brought to justice.
I’m trans, I have a few trans friends and none of us went down that route and most don’t , sure , your child might feel unhappy but don’t let the worst case scenario influence you. Push back is okay and a good thing. Let’s us know if it something we truly do want or not.
Were you always happy? Probably not. But you got through it.
Back in 2000 as a 16 year old I felt so alone, nobody understood, I didn’t understand. There’s was a lot of pressure to not transition.
I was ostracised , punched, spat on, berated.
      Still here though.
Being a kid sucks , moody teenagers are well documented.
To quote the princess bride “ life is pain “.
If your kid truly is gender dysphoric, it’s a natural endpoint for them to transition. Let them make that choice as an adult. Mummy doing everything for them will only stunt their growth. I backed out 4 times. It’s a very serious decision.
I made it to 31 before I eventually took that leap but I was ready.
Detransition is massively on the rise, I’d hate for someone to make the wrong decision. Being supportive and affirming can have negative consequences.
But nobody wants to talk about that.

As a woman who is very independent, asexual, and has always had a preference for men's fashion/hobbies, I have never understood the biology = gender argument. It makes no sense. My sex being female did not make me like having long hair, wearing feminine clothes, wearing makeup and nails... My super short hair has even caused me to get addressed as sir sometimes. But I don't feel pulled toward any gender. I just ended up liking whatever I like and I live my life. That's it. My sex had absolutely nothing to do with what colors, fashion, hairstyle, etc. I enjoy. What we determine to be feminine and masculine is a social construct (not biology like they got mixed up in the video). This was so aggravating to watch, like why can't we just mind our own business.

Biology IS gender; the mistake is in thinking being born a certain sex necessarily means you have to adopt gender ROLES traditionally assigned to your sex. It's completely possible to be a girl in a girl's body who wants short hair and doesn't like pink or dolls. It's completely possible to be a masculine woman; it doesn't mean you have to cut off your breasts and get a hysterectomy jut because you behave in a way atypical you your sex/gender.
