Van's album, Astral Weeks, which this song is from, has guided me through some very tough times in my life. Lester Bangs called it a beacon in the darkness, and it's certainly been that for me.
Van Morrison is alive and well at age 76. Just released his 41st studio record and is performing two nights in his hometown of Belfast Northern Ireland on December 6 and 7 in a few weeks.
Just watched your reaction video. Yea!! 🙌😀. You’re a wonderful young man with a beautiful heart to listen to Van Morrison from decades ago and provide those reactions. Amazing! Yours is the modern, internet version of Van’s beautiful soul. 👍😀
He's alive and still making amazing music. I think he's actually better than ever. You should see some of his live concerts from the last year on TH-cam. (I was playing them on repeat during lockdowns.)
Funny you should mention The Doors. Jim was a massive fan of Van's. Van played at the Whisky a Go Go and Jim was blown away by how he performed, including the whispered poetry (which Jim incorporated into the Doors performances). I believe that Van introduced Jim to Bushmills Whisky. Of course the Doors also covered Van's song Gloria. So yeah, a big connection. Van reminds me of James Brown the way he controls the band. Van is alive and well and still performing
One of the best albums I ever purchased was Van Morrison's double live album "It's Too Late To Stop Now". This was a Warner Brothers album with excellent sound quality.
I agree, it’s a great album! I got the LP, when if first came out. Several years ago, I got the expanded, four CD, edition, it’s really good. I actually prefer his live album “ A Night in San Francisco “. It’s really nice.
That is my favorite all time album and I have over a thousand records in my music collection. (Also the version of Cypress Avenue on that album blows this one completely out of the water.)
Sing? Soul? Perform? Van ooozes soul. Perform? He don't even have to move, all he has to do is sing and the roof blows off. Try Domino, wild nights and into the mystic. No one does it like van and the band. Great job! Another van fan!
Thank you Dude, Cprus Avenue is my favourite song and you introduced me to this version, I'll always be grateful for that and remember this moment watching it with you!
When I was in my teens , now70, At a Van concert he spent 20 min. going from corner to corner of the stage going "over here" "over hear" people walking out and then BANG back into the song
Great job I could see feeling it. You can't just listen to van. You will miss to. You got to feel it, hear it. I could see you ready for it, waiting for it then boom. Van brings it. Soul and gospel isn't about color. It's about talent!
The Album Veedon Fleece is his his Masterpiece (the best album for a long and winding road trip), the song to react to is Cul de Sac. He is still alive and has turned into a grumpy old Anti-lockdown type, but that's ok his Music is still young and free
Van the man Morrison was in my hometown Derry Ireland 🇮🇪💕💕💕☘️☘️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 loved your reaction .he's a leg. Pleeeeease react to Dermot Kennedy . Thank you love from Ireland
Cypress Avenue is a street in Belfast and this was recorded in Belfast so it's probably a mash up of the performance with footage of the actual street.
Lol, I have always said, music and food bring cultures together. Never discount other cultures music, it is amazing what you will find that will soothe your soul if you just let it happen. Lol, I think that some are beginning to realize... Wish I have always known. That it doesn't matter what color you are when it comes to music. Hell, Van Morrison is from Ireland. And obviously lol, it doesn't matter even what country and what color you're from. You would do yourself a favor by listening to even more Van Morrison. The most important rule is never close your mind to music...
everybody on all the Van reactions keep bringing up Jim Morrison and they all say exactly the same thing like they learned it in reaction school ! so disappointing!!
I know he’s been a very vocal anti masker( a very sad thing, and difficult to overlook), and he’s always been surly, but I wasn’t aware of his being bigoted. Perhaps I haven’t heard the latest, though.
He is an incredible artist but not always the most likeable guy (even decades before the Covid stuff he could be an annoying tw*t). I come from half a mile away from him/Cyprus Avenue. Love him as an artist, would cross the road to avoid him as a person. Hey ho.
for me hes the best ever musician not just cos he can sing, but cos he can play any instrument he wants but masterfully well even the drums
Van's album, Astral Weeks, which this song is from, has guided me through some very tough times in my life. Lester Bangs called it a beacon in the darkness, and it's certainly been that for me.
Yes Van is still performing at 79, lives next door to Bono in Dublin...
Van Morrison is a legendary Irish Blues/Soul Legend
Memories ❤️ My uncle has been banging the drums for him here and there since the 70s.

He is playing in his home town and they all know what and where he is talking about. Hence the crowd reaction.

Imo one of the best live albums of the seventies

Thanks again, Nick. Lovely reaction to one of my all time fave performances. Yours, “Bob.” 😉

Great song, great performance, great reaction! Next you gotta try "Astral Weeks" -- the song is AMAZING!!!
In the seventies he was untouchable. Amazing singer.

He always was one grumpy SOB, but god he's good.
The more I listen to this man Sir Van Morrison the more I discover so many masterpieces. Yes Veedon Fleece is up there.
He's still doing it, often with jazz ensembles.
This is soul music.
I wanted Ancient Highways and Satisfied and you found one I never have seen
Van the man Morrison was in my hometown Derry Ireland 🇮🇪💕💕💕☘️☘️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 loved your reaction .he's a leg. Pleeeeease react to Dermot Kennedy . Thank you love from Ireland

Never heard this one before. I usually love his music but this one didn't do anything for me.
He is no country singer, he's from Ireland
everybody on all the Van reactions keep bringing up Jim Morrison and they all say exactly the same thing like they learned it in reaction school ! so disappointing!!
i loved him growing up... pity in his old age he couldn't overcome some bigoted stuff, brought out by covid
I know he’s been a very vocal anti masker( a very sad thing, and difficult to overlook), and he’s always been surly, but I wasn’t aware of his being bigoted. Perhaps I haven’t heard the latest, though.
@@dangabbert3944 Yeah he was anti-lockdown but didn't hear any bigoted stuff either. Dunno where that's coming from
Turns out he was right.
He is an incredible artist but not always the most likeable guy (even decades before the Covid stuff he could be an annoying tw*t). I come from half a mile away from him/Cyprus Avenue. Love him as an artist, would cross the road to avoid him as a person. Hey ho.
