- Hello TH-cam, welcome to our first bash at a Legions bat rep. We thought we'd start at 1500 points and our format isnt final so please give us feedback on everything from rules to how the video looked to run time etc etc just be kind its our first time!

When withdrawing after a lost combat, you can't flee off the table - you just stop when you come into contact with the table edge, unlike fleeing due to a morale check

This is needing an erata. I think they did it right.
@@TC-Apoc it's on page 62 - Withdraw. Last sentence of first bullet point: "If a model making a Withdrawal move moves into base contact with its battlefield edge, it stops moving"
Yep. Withdraw and fall backlng are 2 different things. Only fall back can run off board and can't end up fall back from combat
Also, in the combat in the building, the 2v1 infantry fight there was a mistake. The sons of Horus should have had 3d6 on the second round of fighting because the imperials fist stand was fighting a second time and it represent him being exhausted. Same with the kratos vs the terminators, in the 2v1 fights, when the kratos is fighting the second stand the terminators should have 3d6 as well.

Great video! Love the format. Fixed camera for movement and handheld for combat worked great. I personally preferred when you rolled the dice near the combat instead of in the tray, to keep the camera from whipping back and forth, or losing track of which units were involved when rolling lots of attacks. Looking forward to more videos, and I'm excited to check out your Epic, AT, and AI videos!
Yeah agree on the camera work. We'll keep the dice over the action. Thanks for tuning in
Not that it would have mattered, but the SoH Terminators in Turn 4 could have done a pile-in move when activated in the Movement phase. The Kratos would still have been able to move away, but worth noting for the future.
Good to have some LImp content!
Also don’t forget point defense weapons can fire before or after a unit activation durning the movement phase. Like when the rhino had the lone assualt marine they could have fired at start of end of move. And if within 4 inches bolters get assault rule (double shots)

How do you think it compared to the EA games you played? Im not sure its worth the jump, especially as they currently only have rules for maybe 1/10 of the unit roster
I'm enjoying it very much. The rules are quite slick and and lot little interactions that I'm starting to see now. The army lists will grow so I'm not worried about that plus there is plenty to get stuck into. The games are very different but also has the same feel. As it stands my first impressions are good

Definitely a more advanced game than most of gw offerings. Very epic like. You guys got through it pretty fast mainly because the traitors died of in the second turn. Broken system will likely be a pain if you are running multiple of similar formations.
Be interesting over time. To be fair, Armageddon was check victory conditions after round three so I think that could be a thing here. It's still so early. Our other two games were a lot closer
That's why 3k is recommended. You can fill out formations much easier so it's less of a problem. I know these guys don't seem keen for 3k but as more varied units come out, and you fill out formations, 3k will make sense.
I'm totally keen for 3k. Just not sure how I'll film it 😅
Seeing what a mess the rulebook is, I honestly don't think GW put that much thought into it. Im thinking it's going to more of a "fix it as we go" sort of situation.

Great battle report! I look forward to more. I'm afraid I can't offer any input, as I've not read the rules. My core box and baneblades are my Christmas present this year. Watching all the LI content is not making the wait any easier.

Each kratos has 2 of the hull mounted Kratos las/autocannon.
So 2 weapons each with accurate.
Unlike sponsons.
Data sheet specifically states 2 of each

Combat in buildings - every model counts as beeing in combat with every enemy model. When pairing models, you have to pair 1v1 until one side runs out, then create 2v1's etc, the playwe with priority creates the matchups I belive.
So I’m currently on the fence with LI as I’m keen to get a real feel for its scale, tactical depth and how this really plays. Really enjoyed this first pilot, I like the fact that you explain what orders you’ve taken, and would love more discussion on tactics as you play.
Overhead camera works well for movement for sure.
Recognise it’s a big ask, but there’s a part of me that’s really intrigued as to how a full scale 3k game plays eventually…I’m keen to see what this game can really do before jumping in. Thanks for the effort so far.
We'll build up to 3k for sure. Just crawling before we can walk before we can run. I'm also sorry to say tactical advice may not be our strong suit on this channel 😅
To be fair. Yours is the best one I’ve seen so far! Just taking things through as you do is really informative and adds a lot more depth versus “im moving here and shooting this.” 😂 please keep it up. Thumbs up from me.

Cheers bud, still a few minor glitches but it's not a how to just trying to iron it out with an audience. The terrain, crikey so.... Rocks Gamemat.eu, the Buildings GW, the roads Beowulf miniatures, the trees I made myself with N guage ebay trees and sand and flock paint etc.

Great stuff, really made me fired up for LIMP. Rules seem more like first edition Space Marine Epic than the second edition Armageddon-style rules, would be really interested in watching a vid on compare and contrast of the Armageddon and LIMP rules if you care to make it.
Yeah it's basically space marine with tweaks. I have a lot of requests to make that vid so I'll be looking into it
Great video, I really enjoyed it. I wondered how much was left to speed it up, I mean, how long was spent picking orders or checking rules? Also, where did you get the activation tokens, not the order tokens, but the ones you used to keep track of which units had moved etc
I'm not sure how long the footage was in total I do quite a bit of cutting? I personally don't mind the run time. The intro is 10 mins. The activated tokens are from counterattackbases.co.uk. Glad you enjoyed it
where do you get the flying stand you used for the thunderhawk? that height makes it even more awesome!
Homemade, 4mm clear rod and clear base off ebay with an AI flight stand on top
The flying stands are very cool but what happens when you want to hover, become a skimmer, and you could be potentially hidden by terrain ha

as far as i understand if you can only damage unit you can see, even though you can shoot at the Kratus detachment you can only damage the Kratus you can see, therefore if the second Kratus was completely out of view that could not be targeted

25:40. Minor note but overwatch is -2 to hit so 2+ and 3+ won't hit on 6's. Also as accurate rerolls failed hit rolls those sicarans overwatching should reroll all missed main gun shots. Autocannon/heavy bolter sicarans dicy target to charge with infantry.
Yes but the Point Defence weapons dont have the -2
Wow. Those armies look amazing! What a beautiful looking bat-rep. Did you paint the Sons of Horus models with contrast paints or using "normal" methods?
Thank you very much. The sons armour is painted with an airbrush with a few shades and a bit of simple weathering. The infantry are just painted, washed and a few details picked out
They look stunning and have inspired me to paint my own Sons of Horus Legions Imperialis force. @@Tabletop_Standard

Brilliant batrep guys! You can tell you've actually read the rules (cough Ash at GMG cough). It was a crazy swingy game to the Fists but bloody brilliant. Can't wait to have a crack at it!

I'm holding out hope that you guys would want to create a real city-scape battlefield - destructable buildings in AT is great fun, but not really a core mechanic. In Legion Imperialis it feels like a part of the core mechanics. In AT we have diffrent "stages" of damaged buildings, which is great fun but unreasonable to model several versions of the same building to keep swapping out during the battle. In Legion Imperialis it's a binary system, it's either a building or difficult terrain, and that's actually doable (I would use sprue lengths and bits to mark out the silhouette/footprint of a destroyed building)
We have a ton of buildings for a full city just waiting to be painted up!

Playing on a 5x4 and having enough sideboard is a problem for 6x4 board imo. I agree that 4x5 for 1000pts and up is probably best but there's a real logistical challenge with having enough sideboard to track what's in what structure and transport.
Agreed. That's why our armageddon games are played on a 5x4. But there seems like a lot less models for an 3k gane of Armageddon
11:13:00. Player with initiative determines who fights who(same as when not-building if options).
Also might been just poor choice of wording but if det with charge order can't move to enemy with double move it doesn"t count as advance. You only move normal speed but can't shoot. You need commander to negate charge order

45:50 while the building full of Fists has no Engagement Zone, you can only move B2B with a Garrisoned Structure if on Charge Orders or you have a Wrecker (or a Titan)

I'm not certain here but it looks as though when discussing the lists that you are counting Dedicated Transports towards a Formation's Break Point.
For clarity, while Transports ourchased from a Transport slot do count, Dedicated ones do not. (See page 129)
Good spot. We used a Limp list builder website which calculates break point. I think it includes the transports. Thanks for this
So far what I have seen of Limp, the game could really benefit from the standard tournament mission from Epic Armageddon and a larger standard table. I wouldn't even mind the old standard 4x6.

Format of the video was great, batrep itself was good too... Not sure exactly what the problem is but the voice audio was really hard to hear for me. Maybe Chris' voice is just too deep and manly but i had to put the captions on!
I'm afraid to say it purely down to my manliness, sorry. I'm actually not sure why that is mate but good to get feedback like that. I will and want to get better mics next year. These were a cheap experiment
Not certain but when the Kratos shoot the Terminators they are using the 1-shot profile, this may be a mistake.
I *think* that you choose a fire mode, it is not a different mandatory profile for short range.

Great battle report. The armies looked awesome, and quite different from each other. Did I see 4 terminators to a stand, instead of 5? Possibly a cheeky move, I might want to copy.
I had 4 and Tony had 3 on his. These armies are well over a year old so we just put on bases what we fancied at the time.
I've got a couple games under my belt now too and both were pretty much decided by the end of the second turn. Thanks for the battlereport, looking forward to seeing more.

Hey pal! The video format looks great. I'm planning the same. Some inspiration you might like is from the channel "7th Son", in some of his War of the Roses videos he does a sped up movement clip, then goes into handheld / conversational detail for combat and shooting. I think it works quite well and worth checking out if you haven't seen it already.
Cheers mate. I've not seen 7th son. At this point I'm doing real time as the game is so new people can see whats going on and can help us with rules etc. I may do over views every few units and show actions like overwatch etc in the future. We'll see?
Btw don't think 3k will be that bad. For one most infantry isn't on board at once. Transports, garrisons etc.
Also when gw releases more options people have more expensive units to choose. We have like 1/3 of early game. Haven't even bothered making 3k list as i know more units will be released taking points. Drop pods, bikes, glaive's etc
Oh I think 3k will be great and more. I'm really just thinking from a filming perspective

Good report guys and I have big interest in Legions Imperialis.
It wasn't too long for movement included. I think the thoughts of the players is good as you move.
My only humble bit of a suggestion is you guys being mindful of declaring to the audience what you're moving. You mentioned "I'm gonna move these guys," as an example and such are the tiny sizes being viewed it isn't clear exactly what that detachment was. Especially for beginners.
But yeah, it was a good video and I shared it more thab once.

Loving the battle report...in first assault marine charge on the third individual fight I believe you forgot on the bonus for having two stands vs one Sicaran...you won anyway so no game effect😀

Actually you played that one correctly. The outnumbering dice only start to kick in after each individual fight is resolved. So if the outnumbered Sicaran had won against the first base the second assault marine would get an extra dice, but since the first base won the fight ended.
would the sicarans be able to reroll 1s with the legion trait? If the assault marines were 6" away I'm not sure how the overwatch affects the rule (they had advance but lose it etc)

Army's look awesome, But during the army intros there is a whistle that is uncomfortable. will skip ahead to game to see if it goes away.
That'll be the tradesmen working in the room behind us. I tried cutting it out as much as possible. They're we're supposed to be finished the week before 🙄

Kratos are amazing, I managed 2 games last weekend, used a unit of 6 both times and they were devastating both times. We also used a warmaster, and a warlord in different games, which was a learning experience....
Rhinos are good in that they have point defence on their bolters, meaning they can shoot in their movement phase which opens up some cheeky tactics!
Aye they are that! In big units too, we even missed some attacks as well ad they have 2 of the Hull mounted. I have a warmaster list for 3k. Titans are awesome
@@Tabletop_Standard warmaster is horrific. My kratos stripped all its void shields, and the next turn my opponent regenerated 10 back 😂 I love how they made titans so powerful but utterly useless for contesting objectives. It really makes them "ignore or engage".

Ok tyvm. I'm dying to get my hands on just 1 so I can get an accurate scale. I've already had to toss about 3 detachments worth of termites and a pile of contemptors because the sizing was off. Have a few poses of Levi's that I have ready but need to get an accurate sizing.
@sephrus7784 Yeah, fair. Our scales have been pretty good so far. Our contemptors were a bit bigger, but for reps, no problem

I only have 8boxes of infantry 2kratos 2 rhinos one Box of fire raptor one Box of acastus knights 2 warhounds 2 reavers and a warlord with quake cannon.
So i need more stuff to complement my batallion but at least i already have 32 Contemptor Dreads build and my 800 too 900 Astartes

To me it just seems to be slightly muffled. I really like how you guys broke things down but sometimes it just felt like maybe it was just the placement of your mics wasn't picking up as clearly.
