Fantastic comparison mate. Greeting from South Africa 🇿🇦.
I will definitely be getting a Mini Evo. Love everything about it.
Wonderful video. Such a great comparison, very helpful!! 🙏🏻
Never thought we’d be pixel peeping film in 2022. But for real this is a great comparison thanks man.
Thank you for this review!
As the one(s) that asked for this comparison in the previous video, very pleased to see it here. :) AFAIK, is the first direct comparison between these two - and I'm surprised by the differences. Since the hardware looks the same, with just a newer firmware and more buttons, the image quality is much better. Will get one when it arrives here.
Did you compared the printed images using both as a printer, to see if there are differences too?
Thanks for the review. :)
Thank you for this!!
Very helpful, thank you.
i guess the evo is the better choice.
thanks for the comparison.
Mini Evo yes!!! Thank youuuu
I have both the LiPlay and Evo and love them both for different reasons. Both perform very well!
Hey! But if you had to choose one, for a person that doesn't own an instant camera yet, which one would you say is a better option?
@@ferlizano Sorry to barge in but I have some food for thought (Sorry for my English in advance lol) I grew up with Polaroids and now use pro digital cams along with film.
That being said, I like instant cameras like old polaroids. Why? It's the "not knowing what you're getting" and even if a pic is badly cropped, it stands as a memory (the viewfinder is not in the center so it's fun to try to get it right ahah).
If the quality of image is something you want then go for the Evo - but this is where it gets tricky. Why would you want an instant camera that takes the magic of instant with technology and digital choices? EVO is further away from authentic, simple instant photography. Too many buttons and adjustments, effects, etc.
The closest camera to the instant feeling (which I consider the main point) is the LiPlay - you still have a screen to choose what you print (again, away from normal instant but ok). The LiPlay has the results you would get on an instant camera. Higher contrast, a bit more "faded". It looks "authentic polaroid" or whatever you wanna call it. Simpler overall but still highly advanced for what instant photography stands for.
If you're looking to use your phone along with camera and be more picky about features and settings (honestly, not worth it - it's not pro, it should be fun!) go for the EVO.
If you want more playfulness and something closer to the simpler instant camera, go for the LiPlay. If you still don't have an instant camera I would even tell you to get an instax (not polaroid just because of the price per pic, otherwise choose that!) without screen.
TL:DR - being able to pick and choose what pics we want is what digital photography brought. It took away the surprise element - that's the beauty of instant (and film). It's to be playful and a break from pro. The EVO is closer to the digital world when it comes to choice and editing. The LiPlay allows for a bit more authenticity as the images are closer to what the classic polaroid shows.
My advice is always the same - for editing and getting the "perfect shot", a phone will do. If you get a camera that gets closer to that, get a proper compact. If you want it for the memory of great times and for fun and "getting the moment", get the most basic instant camera (in this comparison, it's the LiPlay). Hope I helped!
@@merrynothing3204 thank you so much! This really helped a lot ✨️
@@ferlizano It's worth mentioning, if you still haven't gotten one... the Lomo Automat. No digital screen, like a proper instant camera - it uses Fuji mini instax film. The best part is... multiple exposure (such a good feature), colored film gels for flash (love them!), long exposure (you can draw with light!). All of it through analogue. Have a look, nothing to lose :) Take care!
Good review! 🙌
Thank you :)
This is the video I was looking for, thanks! I just want to confirm if (just in case) the Mini Evo was printed in rich mode, and the Liplay in bright mode. If the sensors are the same, maybe this effects could be the reason of the differences we see. If it's not, definitely it is just the process inside that make it different as you said
Thank you for watching, it's really appreciated.
I didn't shoot in any different modes. I think it's simply down to how the images are processed. I could be wrong though :).
I also prefer the Li Play colors
You can midificate the image to be more bright or more dark i have a instax mini evo its verry cool
Hi, I accidentally updated the firmware without copying the images first, is there a way to recover the files from the internal memory? How do we access that internal drive as the USB is charge only
Love the review. Li Play shots kinda give a lomo feel and reminds me of Lomography film Lomo Chrome Metropolis, which renders desaturated colors.
Please make a review between Instax Mini Evo and Lomo Automat Glass. Your cousin is so cute also 😜
can the evo take pictures without immediate printing it? like if you wanna decide between a couple before printing a select one.. is that an option? i heard that the liplay does have that feature.
Yes you can :). It can store a small number of pictures using its internal storage. Or you can use a micro SD card to increase the number of images you can store to print at a later time.
Wow... the highlights are burned, the sky is just white... Was this just an exposure issue or all photos have burned highlights?
wowooww
Would have been interesting to see a comparison of the print quality when printing a picture from a smartphone with the camera. Is the print quality of the Evo better than that of the Li Play?
The print quality is identical. Tried it and theres literally no difference.
@@Sondercreative Thanks.
So is it the printer / film thats causing the difference in appearance or is it for sure the sensor?@@Sondercreative
@@tehshzz it’s definitely not the printer that’s ask I can say with certainty. The difference however could be from the lens, or the sensor or even the way images are processed. It’s difficult to say.
I like the evo a lot but think for my daughters 10th bday I gonna get the liplay so I can get the film and think she will prefer the smaller size
Both cameras use the same size film.
Is not available anymore on the links and I can’t find it in any store… is there anywhere else we can buy it?
Unfortunately it's out of stock verywhere. B&H are estimating middle of June for new stock.
hi! does anyone know how to turn off flash of liplay? I suppress flash but it still have in low light 😭
Does the mini evo could be used as the instax printers too?
Yes absolutely.
can you add one more thing, as the Fujifilm introduce a new color in mini evo camera. which one looks better ? is it a black or a brown ? and what if they introduce another color next year cuz I'm really confused in brown and black. what do you suggest ? waiting for your reply :)
Boosting this so OP sees your question
My take is the black looks better since the brown is weirdly a bright shade of brown and causes the faux leather to look more plastic-y. However, I haven't seen one in person, only online.
Early EVO's had over-exsposer issues.
Seems they have fixed this.
How can you know if your camera is early or not? (I have one) Or you just actualize the firmware?
@@belebbb Great question.
I just know the one I have, new from the distributor, doesn't have this issue.
My guess is there is a serial number list somewhere online that will help.
I loved this video but the film gave the Liplay an unfair advantage. The film with the black border is different as I was told by a Sammy's Camera employee.
Not according to Fujifilm. The film is exactly the same.
In other reviews I've seen, the Evo outperformed the Liplay in a similar way to what is shown here. Richer colors, higher dynamic range, more accurate exposure.
Evo Rs.19k vs LiPlay Rs.11k
Tell The Difference Too
Can we take landscape way in a both cameras?
Yes you can with both :).
in which camera can we insert memory card and save photos🤔🤔
Both.
@@Sondercreative thank you☺☺
What Official store where to buy?
I generally buy from Amazon.
9:55 The audio suddenly drops in volume.
Dumbass mistake from me really sorry about that.
why is my liplay prints so much different? like it gets all green and and dark
Not sure, have you spoken to Fuji about it. Their customer service is pretty good.
For a 10 years old kid what Is the best choice between Mini Evo and Liplay?
Either one because they're both great. Ask them which camera they like the look of and go with that one.
Both look pretty bad to me! 😢
I personally prefer the actual film cameras from Instax but I think these are great. What do you dislike about them?
