I preordered a C400 and am likely getting a Wooden Camera cage. I’m an extreme hobbyist so I don’t particularly want to spend that kind of money on a cage but it is what it is. My C70 rig is already a bit unconventional and I want to try something a bit less fiddly. 🥴 I have a SmallRig cage as a base and it’s been very sturdy, even using some beefier lenses like RF 100-300 f2.8 but yea… full story too long for comments section!😅
I highly recommend the Kondor Blue cage for the C70, I ran it for a few years and it was great. The top plate secures into the shoe as well as the sensor locator hole so there's two firm attachment points. Dead on about the C400 accessories, I've been waiting for a decent "budget" cage because no way I'm dropping $3K AUD for a few small pieced of CNC'd aluminum.
Oh yeah I forgot about the kondor blue one for c70, two points of contact would be way better!I’m always going to make sure there’s no ‘floating’ parts in the future ones I buy. I emailed Smallrig today and they said they don’t have current plans for a c400 cage at this stage. But now that you’ve mentioned kondor blue I might contact them and see if they’ve got anything in the works.
@@videographerstuff539 Totally feel that, even without the follow-focus on the flex from cages like that (especially when felt through a top handle with a heavy monitor) gives me pause. Not a bad idea, I'll shoot them a message too and try to apply some pressure!
Just got a response from Kondor Blue, quote "Our cage is in the final design stage. It will be released for preorder soon. We won’t have it in hands for about 2 months, though."
@@videographerstuff539 Nice! Where are you grabbing yours from out of interest? My normal place in Sydney won't have stock til November despite placing the order about two months ago 🙄

That sounds intriguing! Do tell!
Once you get the wooden camera cage can you let me know what it’s like please?

Tilta has joined the party now as well. Glad we have options. I can pick up my c400 Wednesday, should be fun
