Always wanted to check out Morocco, great info. I hadn't considered it for retirement, but will definitely have to put it on the slow travel list.

I'm so intent on visiting Marrakech because my wife was born there, but we're so apprehensive about safety issues in Morocco, especially after events in Gaza. We're exasperated.

I visited Marrakech in 1994 when I was in the United Nations Troops in the Western Sahara. I rented a car in Agadir and drove the coast through Essouira, Al Jadidah, Casablanca and Rabat and then went to Marrakech. The terrain remeinded me of Southern California. A good time.
