      Nice, with no low range it makes it a lot harder! I used to have a 5 speed manual SH XT prior to this and it's night and day difference having a turbo auto that can crawl 👌🏻 cheers mate

    Nice work mate 👍 well done and good on you for being persistent 👏..Is it running the original intercooler? The Process West Verti Coolers are good upgrade if you didn’t want the hassle of going frontmount setup…Also was wondering do the think the smaller 15in wheel/tyre setup has made a worthwhile difference… Hopefully you’ll have a crack at this hill again when you get a locker 👌

    • @MontyScott
      @MontyScott  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate, yeah being persistent paid off in this situation 😁 I'm actually already running a process west top mount although not the Verti unfortunately just the regular one. I really like the smaller 15s, makes a big difference in how the car feels and soaks up a lot more of the rough stuff but it's all a compromise... Bigger heavier tyres I also can run lower pressure now so I probably lose more clearance than I used to when airing down but overall I'm really happy with this setup👌🏻 haha yeah I'll be back to tackle it again when I've done some upgrades! I want to try and get some lower ratios in the diffs and see if I can get that to work before doing a locker but that'll still happen either way 👍🏻

    awewome subie. did u need the lift to fit those tyres, pplanning on getting 2 inch lift but wondering if i have to wait for the lift untill i buy my new tyres, also did you have to cut anything to make tyres fit or they fit perfectly

    • @MontyScott
      @MontyScott  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate, these tyres required a lot of work to make them fit without scrubbing! I wouldn't recommend this size unless it's something you really want! 225/70r16 is a much better size and pretty much fits without the need for extensive modifications! Just a little trimming of some plastic or reshaping with a heat gun if anything 👍🏻

    • @davidshitcheid3033

      @@MontyScott ok thanks heaps, legend. but i am looking to get a 15 inch rim (looking to get the black rhino boxers )tho so you recon 215/75R15 would be good and not too hard to fit, with a 2 inch lift. that size is also the smallest falken wildpeak tire so would work out well as ive heard good things about them, as they are a capable trye but also not too bad on the fuel size. am open for some recommendations as i am still trying to work out what im getting.

    • @MontyScott
      @MontyScott  ปีที่แล้ว

      @rchristianwooley4870 hi mate thanks for checking out the videos. I do not have a fitting video as of yet however with your 2015 XT I believe the front brakes are too big for 15s so you'll probably need to go a bigger wheel size👍🏻

    Subaru doesn't have a low range. He shouldn't of stopped at all on the hill. That trans is not liking that at all.

    • @MontyScott
      @MontyScott  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah unfortunately no low range, lower gearing would go a long way! I'm looking at putting some lower diff ratios in but it's a bit complicated! The trans is fine though, it's a 5eat so it has a torque converter that is designed to slip. The problem is that sometimes the top mount intercooler gets too much heat soak creating very high intake temps which does not help because hot air is less dense so the turbo struggles to get on boost! And being a bigger VF52 turbo it needs a little higher RMP to get going so the problem is compounded! Like I mentioned in the video going to a front mount intercooler could help a lot or some water spray and little thermo fans on the top mount could work well👍🏻

    Dang, do you not use your e-brake when parking on such steep hills? That tension suddenly letting go when you come outta park sounds brutal.

    • @MontyScott
      @MontyScott  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, yeah I know right it sounds rough as! I was using my e-brake each time I stopped! Although the camera doesn't really show it this was very steep so even with the e-brake fully applied it really wasn't stopping the car from sliding down the hill a bit so the parking lock ended up taking a lot of the weight!
