    Truly Tim Mackie, you were born to teach God's word. Not only to teach but to inspire, to lead us to imbue ourselves in God's word, His love, His son. Every time listen to one of the sermons you've preached I not only learn and am reminded but also leave feeling lifted closer to our Lord. Thank you. God bless and keep you and your precious family. The Bible Project is also quite wonderful by the way.

    After 9 months of struggling and being led by his Holy spirit to understand and learn about God's image, I'm glad my mind has been set to accept that Jesus is the true God! His word his right hand, Our savior!
    I'm left in Awe and greatful that there is someone out here explaining with such passion and humor to show those who are seeking!

    Gen 1:1-2 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. "The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters."
    I picture the description given in the first three verses of Genesis 1 as more like a creation of a baby. The earth was birthed by God and is initially formless and surrounded by water "amniotic fluid sac" and his spirit hovering over it. This reminds me of the time Mary was told she was going to have a baby even though she knew no man in that way. She is told how in
    Luke 1:35 "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you".
    I think that is what we are seeing in the first few verses of Genesis. A birth. A birth of the earth. The Holy Spirit hovers when giving birth. Over the earth, over the water. It is a dark place in the amniotic fluid sac. That is the description in Genesis. Darkness and water. No chaos there. Young earth for sure!

    Yes, Spirit is Tim's inner invisible Me when Tim speaks SPIRIT~. That is Tim's I am who I am. God always is in Tim's mind garden. Being invisible Tim's Me is by Jonah's dying diving onto Tim's mind sea's bottom land, which are all meanings of Gospel of John's.

    Just thinking in terms of Ruach (my attempted transliteration here), as the Biblical perspective holds that breath is the indicator of life. How would this idea be applied to the other life forms that exist on this planet that do not ‘breath’ as we understand it? The plants, fungi, bacteria, sea animals, etc. They cycle through gas exchange but it’s not respiration. Are the absent of ruach/life?

    • @artiefount
      @artiefount 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drawing air into our lungs is a metaphor of sorts, the Holy Spirit or God's Spirit is not merely the gaseous components many living things breathe, but breath; wind- they are wonderful symbols, if you will, of the exchange, the gift of life.

    At the risk of 'straining at a gnat', I have to say that I'm really ticked off by the way you omit Tim's closing prayer in all your posted videos - okay, the six I checked out.
    Also, I went to your channel and found this statement under your 'About' section:
    "Videos have a link included in the description directing you where you can find their original home."
    That is not accurate in the case of this nor for many other of your videos. I dug and dug through your archived playlists and did find a few that did indeed include your referenced links (Vimeo, typically)but not nearly all your vids included the link to "their original home".
    Since I highly prize accuracy , honesty and clarity - I found that you guys probably posted Vimeo content onto your channel, which is fine - and upon watching a couple Vimeo's posted sermons, I find that Vimeo are the ones guilty of chopping off Tim's closing sermon prayers!
    Please forgive me for blaiming you guys for that.
    In order for me to get a hold of the original original sermons, i'll hopefully search and find them on one of Tim's channels.
    Sorry, but I like getting things straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
    When I read your saying you include links to a Tim sermon's "original home" - I assumed you meant the semon's full content sermon and Vimeo is Not that "original home"!
    My gripes in no way reflect my feelings about Brother Tim Mackie - he is God's man, for sure!
    Shalom Shalom

    How do we understand evolution with genesis ?

    • @twelvebrothers5038
      @twelvebrothers5038 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi rithin,
      I know that you asked this question over a month ago at this point, but I wanted to respond to it anyway if that's okay.
      First, though, I want to say that I don't think that belief or unbelief in evolution is damning. I personally don't believe in evolution. But there are Christians that I respect who do/did believe in evolution.
      Personally, I think that either the narrative in Genesis 1 (creation) is true- or evolution is.
      I don't believe both can be true at the same time. Although I now believe in creation, I used to think that evolution accurately and fully explained the origins of life.
      I didn't start to really question this belief (or become confused about it) until college.
      Here is where the confusion came in for me:
      Adaptation vs. Creation vs. Evolution.
      Whenever we would do a section on Evolution at university, what we were actually taught about was Adaptation.
      I didn't realize back then that Evolution and Adaptation are not one and the same.
      The Theory of Evolution uses Adaptation as an explanation for how and why Evolution would have occurred, but Evolution is not Adaptation.
      The fact that Adaptation occurs does not automatically prove that Evolution does. Though this was usually what was insinuated.
      Another thing I didn't realize: Adaptation is NOT at odds with Creation, but
      Evolution IS.
      In other words, I realized that you can accept both Adaptation and Creation as truth. Evolution is what seems to present a problem.
      I would be open to talking about this more if you want to.
      If not, you might find this resource interesting:
      www.apologeticspress.org/APContent.aspx?category=9&article=2106
      Either way, GOD Bless you.

      Psalm 28:5 KJV
      [5] Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
      So believing in evolution and not giving Alohiym AHAYAH (Ex. 3:14) all credit and awestruck praise will land you to destruction

      We understand that those are simple stories to get the idea across to simple early people.
      But do not let your Amazing God be too Small because of fear that science is wrong. It is all compatible with what God did. He is the only potter who can give Life to his clay pots.And the only One who can make Genesis compatible with evolution.

    • @janicecovell4426
      @janicecovell4426 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please people don’t try to put your Great God in a box or make Him too small. He is a Great Creator!
      Evolution is real, the Bible is true, but just a very simplified explanation of really complex science.

    I know I must be totally misunderstanding, but it seems to me that if there isn't life until an infant takes his first breath (Ruach), then abortion would be OK! But as a believing Christian who is also pre-life, I KNOW that's not true, and I know Tim would teach that either! So what am I misunderstanding?

    • @janicecovell4426
