I’ve been gaming for over 25 years and have played MANY video games. But in all my time, I can’t think of a better collectible. This is my favorite part in the game and in my top 10 favorite video game moments of all time. I was absolutely blindsided by this and just stared with my mouth open for the whole video as I laughed so hard. I have now been listening to this song nonstop for two days in a row. It was weirdly touching, too. Dr. Darling made a lot of mistakes, but I genuinely think he was a good person. Even though he’s now in a different plane of existence, he contacts Jessie and cheers her on in his own way in her darkest moment. This is 100% canon in my book and a hill I will die on. I never knew about Control until I played Alan Wake recently, but both games are masterpieces and I kick myself I didn’t play them earlier. Remedy Entertainment is quickly becoming my favorite studio of all time. Well done, and all I’ll say is Matthew Porreta not winning the award for best performance in a video game is a crime against humanity. Simply legendary 😂
I don't know why 0:52 murders me every time, it just does. The intense hand motion, the quick zoom, his intense, obviously sweaty expression like he's been setting this up all afternoon... It's just everything.
One of the greatest injustices of the gaming awards not giving Matthew Porretta (Dr. Darling) the best performance award. I mean, he did it all, even sing! I like Mads Mikkelsen but we all know he won the thing only because of the weight of the game he's part of.

We know that they needed some sort of art to get Alan out of the dark place so maybe they had to make this song to get Jesse out of something like that
I mean it lines up, kinda. This Zane's a filmmaker, some shots of this music video looks like it was shot and edited by a professional, I know Darling's probably the brightest man in the remedyverse but he is not a professional filmmaker, not a true auteur as one might say
Yeah plus the call phone he makes like Alice to Saga
This is the only thing I'm living for anymore.
I like to imagine the second person (0:43) is previous Director Trench instead of a spliced-in copy of Darling. It would be such a hilarious contrast to all his other appearances in the Hotline.
Mathew must have the best job ever. Remedy let's him do all these bizarre characters! and he kills it every time
I cheered at his call and lost it when I watched this. Bless you, Casper Darling, MVP of the Bureau
I really like Mads Mikkelsen and all...but common. I'll totally would give a prize to this man just for this.
Mass Mikkelsen wasn’t in this game, what are you talking about
He got some cake don't judge me
After seeing Herald of Darkness it is confirmed that this man can SING
Both of his parents are classically trained singers. It's in his DNA.
It's going to take alot to convince me that this isn't Dr Darling trying to communicate with Jesse
At the end he says "Jesse, get me" so I'm pretty sure it's him communicating with Jesse
Reasons why Dr. Bright should not be left alone:
I think that`s why he should sometimes be left alone
I wonder if the parallels between the two were intentional.
Dr Bright shouldnt by any means try to jump demensions to meet up with dr darling in Fbc to record telepathic music video.
BlackLion SCP Foundation was cited by Remedy as a major inspiration.
This is what I love about the Game it's tense and atmospheric, but kinda hilarious at the same time. Such great moments like the Ashtray Maze (which has to be best Gaming Moment of decade). It's such a fine gem which sadly doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
This makes even more sense when you remember that these employees barely have any social life outside of work, if one at all. (Darling does not)
Legend is he sleeps under his desk.
They litteraly said that somewhere in there.
I'll give him a social life
I'm surprised nobody just said the obvious and said that this proves that Jesse has the biggest crush on Dr. Darling.
I mean, how could anyone not?
man is jacked! who wouldnt?!
Everyone has
Nah.
I have had dreams with things that I do not like.
Best example? Nightmares.
Him shaking his ass in time with the cowbell gets me everytime
I find myself rewinding/replaying this video/recording. Darling has blessed/graced us with this gift/masterpiece.
"sending thoughts and prayers" actually working this time
This whole game is a goddamn experience. This came right at a point when things were very serious and it was a good way to break the player away from what was going on.
Mmmmm yes very supportive, Dr Darling.
You could tell me Matt Porretta doing this musical number was the basis of developing Control and I would be completely convinced.
Since only artists can harness the power of the Dark Place to change reality, Dr. Darling is obviously preparing for a trip to the Dark Place.
Emily: That's odd, nowhere in Dr. Darling's notes does he mention that he learned to harness raw dad energy like that.
😁🖤
must be a Hedron thing, that shape gives me major mom vibes
His piece of art.
Hope she find Darling on Control 2, alive and well
Hopefully he appears in the 1st dlc for alan wake 2. You see him on the TV for a second
at the very very very end of the song if you turn it up max you can hear "jesse, save me" or "jesse, get me"
i loved this so much. i was so disappointed that it wasnt a full song. i REALLY need to know who came up with it. Was it Sam Lake?
No, it's an actual song by Mud called "Dyna-mite"
@@johntitot7685 i know, i just wanted a full music video of Dr. Darling. also, i wanted to know who came up with the idea of Darling making his own music video like a goofball, not "who came up with the song".
Kyrridas I'm sure it was. Lake was credited as the writer of the game.
*Alan wake 2 final draft spoiler* :
Imagine this is the collaboration Darling and Tom Zane did after the second dr.Darling message, maybe to write Jesse into the story to come and save them from the dark place ?
Pls 10 hr version of this
the amazing part is that this actually makes sense with the plot, Jesse just entered the building with nobody (except ahti) knowing who she was, and everybody turned insane knowing she was the new director when heard her name
I know there's not a huge chance of Control getting a full length sequel, but if there ever is, I would love to actually meet Dr Darling in it.
I know this comment is years ago, but Remedy is reportedly working on a Control sequel now that Alan Wake 2 is out!
@@Spewa-em8cm two sequels. one is control 2, the other is multiplayer
Most games would've made this a secret, a little Easter egg you get for doing something or exploring. But Control throws it right in your face, make it impossible to miss or ignore, it *n e e d s* you to see it
I remember thinking “there’s no way anything can get any better than this” and then Alan Wake 2 proved me wrong.
hmm hmm hmm champion of light.. hmm hmm hmm herald of darkness..
@@jadebeast100 anger's remorse aswell, idk how these games' songs are goated
in the twilight of my yeeeeeeeeeeears@@macsynister
SHOW ME, THE CHAMPION OF LIIIIIIIIIGHT!
I'LL SHOW YOU THE HERALD OF DAAAARKNEEESSS!
HEEEES A TORCHBEARER
AND IT COULDNT BE MUCH CLEARER
Every time this pops up in my Recommended Videos I have to watch it again. So good,
😂 👍
This is what happens when an "easter egg" gets written into the main storyline. ABSOLUTE GOLD!
The Board approves this masterpiece/art
This is why they tell you to not eat the mold...
lmaoooo
Welcome to the thres-mold
@@danielvulpis432 I kinda want Dr. Darling to be the protagonist if there's a sequel (sorry Jessie).
@@austinpatterson7212 screw "Jesse is dynamite" I want "that doctor is a Darling"
@@danielvulpis432 Oh Hell yes!
No, Jesse, it's not weird, it's a hint about true Final Form of the Service Weapon.
What a darling
So goofy, yet so beautifully meaningful in that perfect remedy way.
This man's parents are both opera singers. He is just built different.
I’ve watched this so many times 😭 I love it
I don't know why 0:52 murders me every time, it just does. The intense hand motion, the quick zoom, his intense, obviously sweaty expression like he's been setting this up all afternoon... It's just everything.
This has got to be my favorite
Not gonna lie... I wish we had a full version of this.
One of the greatest injustices of the gaming awards not giving Matthew Porretta (Dr. Darling) the best performance award. I mean, he did it all, even sing!
I like Mads Mikkelsen but we all know he won the thing only because of the weight of the game he's part of.
