Even in Japan there's some people that doesn't need to struggle with money like normal people do, they doesn't have any problem paying $1200 or more if required. Sad but true. Also consider this, where's there a demand there's a supplier.

Hope they are better than in Australia. Australians melons are hard to chew. In Europe, they use d to be soft and juicy but not here. Same for strawberries and peaches.

I was in Japan and see the actual price of their cantaloupe..it was crazy..!!! Absolutely crazy..100 US dollars each or $ 5 dollars per tiny slice..!!!our cantaloupe is much better taste ..!!!

Even in Japan there's some people that doesn't need to struggle with money like normal people do, they doesn't have any problem paying $1200 or more if required.
