The last tip... is the best tip I've ever gotten for chess. I get way too anxious to play chess because I'm too afraid to lose. The perspective that the pain of the mistakes I make are actually me improving, makes me feel a whole lot better. I didn't expect this to be so EMOTIONAL. Thank you so much 🥺

Actually, the term "rookie" in sports isn't directly derived from the rook in chess. It's believed to have originated from the 19th-century military term "recruit," which referred to someone new to a group or organization. Over time, "rookie" became the term for a player in their first year in a professional sports league. The rook in chess, on the other hand, gets its name from the Persian word "rukh," which means chariot.

@ASMR Chess great video as always! Just wanted to point out a tiny mistake though. @ 40:15 you show how to make a discovered attack with the rook and king vs the knight and bishop. But unfortunately this particular example does not work since with black to move, the bishop can simply capture the rook and both threats are gone lol Love the content, you've single handedly gotten me into chess and ive gone from a complete beginner to a current rating of ~1000.
