I am always amazed that with the vast amount of brilliant songs the waterways have produced over the years and when we are lucky and the radio station decides to play one, all we ever get is The Whole of the Moon. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great song but come on there are so many more out there to choose from.
I've loved the Waterboys and Mike for 35 years - i first heard them as a student in the Mandela bar at Wolverhampton Poly. They filled my heart. I played them today, playing them now. Just sang them on karaoke in Philippines.xx
All time favourite Band . First time I saw them . Bangor University . Back in the day , I Love You anyway . Years later , saw them in a big top in North London , I Love You most of all . Then eventually I came back home , I love you anyway . Four times in Llandudno . That will always be the River , and this is the Sea .
Alles Liebe! 🙏🕉💖🕯😊
Mike Scott has a lot of very good songs, this is excelent Greetings Mike for this magnificient love song. So you crahed the plane And there's hell to pay I'm making it plain I love you anyway You made a fool Out of me today I'm breaking the rule I love you anyway You threw the blame What a role to play! My story's the same I love you anyway You dealt the blow And you burst the ball I'm letting you know I love you most of all Magic we chase - only to find It comes from a place higher than mind Higher than dust, but only just It hangs on the cusp I can hear you scream Like a branded slave It's only a dream I love you anyway You've got a war to wage Chief to obey Foe to engage I love you anyway You hunker down Feeling small Judging the clown I love you most of all I picture you with the eye of my mind A portrait in blue, unravaged by time Beauty undimmed and through your pale skin The beauty within So you beat the child Sent him away Beauty defiled I love you anyway You tricked the King Cut him where he lay Unthinkable thing I love you anyway You held the jewel And you let it fall Prince of a fool! I love you most of all Over the wind, under the hill Wing upon wing, love over will When the big me meets the big you The things we will do! I'll make the time If you name the day Trouble or shine I love you anyway I think of you As child of clay Whatever you do I love yo anyway
Doesn't matter... You're here (hear?) now. You can dig back in and find Waterboys classics like "The Pan Within", "The Whole of The Moon", "A Girl Called Johnny" and so many more from the Waterboys and his solo LPs. It's going to be a great journey back; the man is an honest poet and a great song writer.
An amazing artiste and an amazing man.....his music is truly inspirational, his album"Bring em all in" is a classic..as is the waterboys "Dream Harder " both worth a real listen to.
Very repetitive, mostly four chords, verse after verse.... This could be a criticism. It's not. Just an honest judgement. I love the song; it's brilliant and moving. I just wanted to point out that he's a bit like Dylan, in that, he can come up with a four chord repetitive verse and make me sad to see the song come to an end. He's good enough to make me hang on every word.... and just want to keep hearing that voice. I was lucky enough to see him twice back in the 80's. The Waterboys were nothing short of brilliant and there were succesful musicians scattered throughout the crowd. For good reason.
Yep. Right on. In the mode of Dylan. Neil Young. Fantastic musician and writer. He mastered the technique. 2 to 4 chords...lots of crescendo. Brilliant

Love you anyway Mike!
Mike Scott has a lot of very good songs, this is excelent
Greetings Mike for this magnificient love song.
So you crahed the plane
And there's hell to pay
I'm making it plain
I love you anyway
You made a fool
Out of me today
I'm breaking the rule
I love you anyway
You threw the blame
What a role to play!
My story's the same
I love you anyway
You dealt the blow
And you burst the ball
I'm letting you know
I love you most of all
Magic we chase - only to find
It comes from a place higher than mind
Higher than dust, but only just
It hangs on the cusp
I can hear you scream
Like a branded slave
It's only a dream
I love you anyway
You've got a war to wage
Chief to obey
Foe to engage
I love you anyway
You hunker down
Feeling small
Judging the clown
I love you most of all
I picture you with the eye of my mind
A portrait in blue, unravaged by time
Beauty undimmed and through your pale skin
The beauty within
So you beat the child
Sent him away
Beauty defiled
I love you anyway
You tricked the King
Cut him where he lay
Unthinkable thing
I love you anyway
You held the jewel
And you let it fall
Prince of a fool!
I love you most of all
Over the wind, under the hill
Wing upon wing, love over will
When the big me meets the big you
The things we will do!
I'll make the time
If you name the day
Trouble or shine
I love you anyway
I think of you
As child of clay
Whatever you do
I love yo anyway
God I love the Man...

So true and the comparison with Dylan is accurate.
