Complete BS. Medusa was born a gorgone. Roman Poet Ovid who lived at the time of Emperor Augustus invented the story of her being born human. The Theogony of Hesiod (written 700 years before Ovid) first mentions Medusa, Pegasos and Chrysaor. In the Theogony shes a vile Monster as Hesiod describes her.
Medusa was still beautiful, not a horrible creature as everyone thinks. Athena cursed her to turn her suitors to stone the second she turned her gaze on them. The snake hair and serpentine body were part of the curse. She still had the beauty of her human form from her waist to her face. This was done as punishment for the crimes of Poseidon and the loss of her virginity in the holy temple of Athena. Her only crime was being chased and assaulted by Poseidon because of her beauty. Sad story really.
The original imagine of Medusa was a bloated demonic corpse with her lolling out. It was originally her ugliness that turned you to stone not her eyes.
@@CaraTiny_1117 It makes sense if you remember how we have treated young beautiful virgin women throughout history. We've given them nearly divine powers.
