It's the lush greenery in the Pacific Northwest that attracts people from out of state. I spent two months in the Bay Area and the lack of greenness is notorious. of course there are green spaces there, but there are no pine trees at all. Northern California beginning in Redding and Mt Shasta area is where we start to see dense forests with evergreen trees as we head north on the I-5 corridor.
California is expensive. I said everyone is different. Some may make 50k a year and some make 500k a year. Everyones outlook is different but Portland is the most reasonably priced city on the west coast for now.
Like any area, it's location, location, location. Lake Oswego is very expensive and far enough from Portland that you're not impacted. Oregon is anti business at large, so not a lot of growth.
I Lived there 18 years! Great place!
The best!

The Portland area, including LO, has done an amazing job of protecting green spaces.

@movingtoportlandoregon If I moved out there I could probably make 140-160. Maybe that would be enough.I only make about a hundred in north carolina
No one in their right mind who has cpmmon sense wants to move to Portland, Or Oregon for that matter. Its a dump now.
It's really not.
