Man, being the female lead in these movies is practically a guaranteed death sentence. I mean I read a lot of xianxia, xuanyuan and other Chinese fantasy novels and while the death of someone close to the protag isn't that uncommon, only rarely is it the main female lead. I'm sure there are many more examples I'm forgetting but Desolate Era is the only one I can think of and even then he eventually revives her at the very end after becoming the literal strongest thing in the universe!

This is why I don't like Asian stuff anymore. The women deaths are always a way to progress the guys agenda & some sorrow, so we should feel for HIM! Like, most times, the women should even be the heroes because they're more interesting. I don't read or watch most East Asian stuff anymore, just because it's so obvious they will kill the woman.
