Omg I’m crying right now. I had import tuner magazines tucked under my bed when I was in high school and when I saw this Civic for the first time I was like Wow. The first thing that caught my eye was that big front number. After I was hooked on Honda civics forever which led me to have my own EK9 back in the days. I no longer have my EK but LJ’s car inspired me and so watching this brought back deep memories and tears. Thanks for bringing back this nostalgia.
Thanks for sharing this car. LJ’s car is one of the quintessential cars of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Just watching the video and seeing various parts of the car brought me back to when I was in high school reading all of the SS/Import Tuner mags. Not to mention, this is what the scene was like. Keep it up.
As someone who wanted to buy and build that car as a teenager, I would like to see it restored to it's former shape to revive the prime of the late 90s early's 2000 import tuner culture.
Thank you for taking me back to memory lane Joey. i remember seeing the debut of Ljs civic many many years ago. Crazy how time flies im 45 now and seeing this made me feel like i was in my 20s lol. They were great times back then, seemed like every month someone was coming out with something new. I remember many times just staring at this car with awe. Thanks for the opportunity of seeing it again. Would love to see more content like this.
Thank you for presenting a iconic piece of history. I remember having all those magazines. Been into Hondas and Old Toyotas since I graduated High school back in 1995. Wow how style have changed but now see alot aero parts coming back. Still have love for Hondas got my Eg Civic on my Channel. Always fire content and pictures you got supporter for life.
Seeing this car brought back so many memories. I'm pretty old school as well and this is so nostalgic for me. This car definitely had it's time and place back then and it's very cool to see it in its current state. Glad you got to do a project on this iconic piece of import car culture history!
GReddy, apexi, neuspeed, skunk2, bride, sparco, hks, tanabe..... so many have come and gone a few hung on. But man the days of magazine subscriptions and trips to the local tuner shops. A simpler time ...
So many memories growing up looking at import tuner and super street mags wanting each cover car or feature car. To this day, being 34, LJ's civic is still my favorite. Thank you for bringing this piece back to light.
Things tend to come and repeat in cycles. The boomers have done the same thing with the 60/70’s American cars when they’re older and have disposable income. It’s the same for us now that we’ve grown up. Nostalgia is a powerful drug. I hope this becomes a bigger movement so that the aftermarket restoration parts companies invest in making stuff for these now iconic Japanese cars.
No matter what period the car was built it is what inspired a whole bunch of guys to create and personalize their cars to suit them what I really enjoyed the most was how much passion went into a build I'm in my 50s and I had the pleasure of watching it all evolve into what it is thanks for your love and passion to be part of preserving a snap shot in time for the future generations of car pepole to be inspired.
All I needed to see were the bottom of the wheels and yellow paint peeking from under the car cover and knew what car this was. Brought back memories. Been into Hondas since the mid 90s. Love this vid.
This is my favorite part of this project especially because I know and have seen the car recently, Angel let me see it when I had worked on his EK9. He and I both know this car carries a lot with its existence still today.
I hope Mr. Garcia gets it back and does a Phase II Then and Now Restoration Build, coz Body kits, craftsmanship and tech in general has evolved. That build would blow up on TH-cam...might even be SEMA worthy if done correctly. Great Stuff!
So glad this car has been saved, too many have been scrapped. These photos speak a thousand words, nice work! Would love to see someone restore it to a modern tuning standard, keeping the wide body of course.
So awesome can’t believe this car is still around all the kit is still mostly together would love to see this thing completely put back together with a newer drivetrain but still the same outside
I would keep the outside the same, but redo the inside as a modern OEM+ style. Full black EK4/9 dash and panels, yellow Recaro SR3’s. Put a K24A2 turbo in the spirit of Honda’s big block 4 banger. Kind of like a new lease on life.
Wow!!! Thats the car that got me into cars!!! As a kid in Alaska I picked up the Super Street issue with this car on the cover at the grocery store, and just stared at it... O man getting all emotional 😂 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 for this whole thing
I loved this car. Still got pics of this car from hot import nights Chicago 2000 something! Same show where I saw my first r34! Memories at McCormick center!
Much love, I feel the same, I don’t wanna get in the way of change. I just don’t wanna cover it and talk about it. I love my 92 sedan and am in the middle of a rewire and refresh. I hope to keep my enemy er car for life. To preserve a car that hardly exists in nice condition here in the states. Still rocking my single cam y8 s40 combo, slow and low. 🤘🔥😎🔥🤘
Dope video! I new LJ since I was in middle school. He had a 80s corolla then he got the new Eg civic dx. Homemade chicken wire grill, Custom intake, etc. I still show his builds to my kids to inspire them🤙🏾
WOW!!! Great video every time your videos post make time just to watch them on TV. But the point of magazines being gone and the digital content disappearing is so true. I wish at least one magazine survived even if it was quarterly.
Your concept on shooting this was PERFECT! (Insert SFII Perfect) Everything worked out with the timeline of this vehicle and where we're headed in the future. Personally, I 100% agree with you not trying to predict the EV tuning scene. It'll write the story by itself. With many of us 90's kids being of age to re-create the nostalgia of our childhood, the profile of this vehicle is the chef's kiss. We already know how many things are being rebooted and recreated from the 90's - 2000's era, especially within the car scene of importing JDM cars. The future is going back in time to experience what we couldn't back then, with a touch of modern knowledge. Can't wait to see what's next! Congrats Joey! Hopefully Meguire's can see how passionate you are with this project and it leads you to even bigger things!
Joey you absolutely nailed this video! 👏 Freaking awesome work. Brought back so many emotions. Thank you for an awesome series.💯🙏 Eric and his wife at the time were friends of mine from back when we were all in Advancetech Car Club. 🚗
You nailed it with the video! So many of us from around the world wondered what happened to that piece of history. Made my day reading LJ wants it back.
Seeing the Garage graphics stickers on the corner on the bumper almost brought me to tears. That car was so cool in it’s days, still is but mad what great memories
I will let you to know that this Car is just a Legend beautiful and inspirational I said that because I’m coming from those times and I know how exactly it is, the car is in good hands now all it need is a touch of hard job of work. Very inspiring 🙏🏻👍
I appreciate this video a ton. I bought a 1995 acura legend coupe type 2 6 speed that has a BIG show scene history. Im currently in the process of restoring it and I’ll be vlogging that on my channel. It’s beautiful to see this I always loved this hatch back in the day and have plenty of magazine photos of it
Yes. As being a "RICER".. LOL! Iconic or not, it's hideous! BURN IT WITH FIRE!!! let it rest in peace. Reminds me of West Coast Customs or Pimp my ride... ROFL!
I was personally never a fan of this car in the early 2000's but, it was the most popular ek hatch then until maybe the mid 2000's. It was featured everywhere and was at so many shoes. I've always wondered what happened to all the popular late 90's, early 2000's builds, and even as far as what the original owners are up to? Do they drive mini vans now? Did they move up to fast german cars? Nostalgia is my fav. thing in the world.
Thanks for this vid. Now I know where did these huge front & rear bumpers nowadays originated, useless vents and the huge low profile rims like the once you see in modern civics! 😅
If Thrttl on YT can do it with their iteration of the famous 2nd gen Eclipse from F&F Part I. They are redoing a build but with an updated "modernized" version of the car. I don't see why this piece of Import Car history could rebuild the same way. To see a former shell of it self is still amazing to know it's still around. But with the right combo of old school and new parts🤔🔥
Looked at old photos online and that bracket near the glove box looks like it was for the ps2 wires/bracket to hold it in place. Dang a lot of electronics were sold
Mad Respect for putting this together and Best Wishes to keep putting out great content like this always, But It's sad to see a car so beautiful and loved before just left in the corner not understood and appreciated for the love of the game, now feeling how the future of our Lifestyle deading away
damn would love to buy the car and put it back together in that front end that he was talking about is a Domani front end that was in the video LJ Garcia rip
Suspension probably them old skool Air Canisters before Airbags came out... i remmeber those.. U can 3wheel a honda but in a reversed way, like a lowrider on hydros
that EK9 with the early 2000's style doesnt look bad, even the wheels look nice it's one of those cars from the early 2000's, that still hold another example, its the Supra AB-flug.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn! this was my dream build way back. LJ Garcia build! Man... let this build live!!! IMPORT TUNER and SUPER STREET Magazine where are you? i Like the old color tho. hehe!
UPDATE: I just got a message about 30 minutes ago from LJ Garcia asking if he can buy his old car back... :)
That’s sick! Hopefully he gets it back.
UPDATE UPDATE: I just located the original FEEL'S wing for the car.
Too sick. That would be great. I should tell my uncle and mike to bring back the tenzo rsx and da lol
Amazing work
I pray that he gets it back!

This car definitely brings back memories of how cars were built back in the day.
memories.....iconic car for sure...

Didn’t think of it like that. True
Brings back so many memories. Not just of the car but the crazy times I had back then lol. Thank you Joey!!
Oh snap LJ Garcia's old car 🤯🤯🤯🤯

History and Art at the same time. Thanks Joey.
This is the one car that got me deep into the import scene. Seeing it on the cover of the Super Street magazine July 2000. Great memories
The memories that I once forgot are now very alive ...... thank you for this video.. wow we are getting old
I hope Mr. Garcia gets it back and does a Phase II Then and Now Restoration Build, coz Body kits, craftsmanship and tech in general has evolved.
That build would blow up on TH-cam...might even be SEMA worthy if done correctly.
Great Stuff!
Wahhhhhhhhhhh daaaamn ... Im glad i lived and was part of the 90s import scene... This car is iconic
Will never forget Francine Dee on the cover of the magazine! 😍
Definitely brought back memories hopefully goes back the same way on the road
So glad this car has been saved, too many have been scrapped. These photos speak a thousand words, nice work! Would love to see someone restore it to a modern tuning standard, keeping the wide body of course.

EPIC! This car pretty much got me into Hondas right before I got my license. Good times!

Naaaah keep the H-swap vibe 💪🏽
@@apashe974 That works just as well too. 💪💪

Just took me back to memory lane.
I might have this car in the super street or honda tuning magazine archives. The Feels kit Honda sure brought back memories.
really stoked to see this. Didn't know there was such a resurgence of old-school import culture. I'm here for it.
Dope video! I new LJ since I was in middle school. He had a 80s corolla then he got the new Eg civic dx. Homemade chicken wire grill, Custom intake, etc. I still show his builds to my kids to inspire them🤙🏾
Awesome video!
Thanks for sharing this experience!
Love LJ's Civic! ❤

Watched while at work on the phone. So good I had to watch it again at home on the big screen. 👍👍
Joey you absolutely nailed this video! 👏
Freaking awesome work. Brought back so many emotions. Thank you for an awesome series.💯🙏 Eric and his wife at the time were friends of mine from back when we were all in Advancetech Car Club. 🚗
I wish I had money to help bring this car back to live . I enjoyed seeing this car at all the shows ..
This car was on a completely different level back in its heydays. Awesome work mate 👍👍
Mannnnn this car was epic back in the days. Remember seeing this in the magazines and thinking, I want my hatch to look like this one day
Sheeeesh. The shots under the light with the piano.. brought me back to a simpler time. Almost cried my dude.
Do it cryyyyy
You nailed it with the video! So many of us from around the world wondered what happened to that piece of history.
Made my day reading LJ wants it back.
It’s like we all had some kind of connection with that car…glad that it’s still around…
This brings back soooooo many good memories and because of nostalgia I also picked up an ek hatch and plan on bringing back to life. Awesome video!
That car is iconic an memorable to me one of many iconic cars that got me loving Honda’s! Thanks for the travel back in time man!! You are awesome!
I don’t know about awesome but thank you! Haha
Seeing the Garage graphics stickers on the corner on the bumper almost brought me to tears. That car was so cool in it’s days, still is but mad what great memories
One of those things that makes you remember exactly where you were the first time you saw it...
I still look back at this era, my 97 Sedan, Buddy Club kit, carbon fiber hood, Z5000 RH 18" wheels, door molding delete and so much more.....
I will let you to know that this Car is just a Legend beautiful and inspirational I said that because I’m coming from those times and I know how exactly it is, the car is in good hands now all it need is a touch of hard job of work. Very inspiring 🙏🏻👍

awesome story. We can feel the vibes joey. Thank you for brings us back
Really enjoyed this video, man. Great job!
Absolutely love this, remember this build and so nice to see all these old cars rescued
Man I remember I wanted those rims - well I still do - would love to buy those
Oh my goodness!!! I remember this car at import face-off Houston Texas!
I still have a poster of this car and thought the black one you covered was the same. So neat to see it after all of those years
This car would definitely still break necks at car shows.
Yes. As being a "RICER".. LOL! Iconic or not, it's hideous! BURN IT WITH FIRE!!! let it rest in peace. Reminds me of West Coast Customs or Pimp my ride... ROFL!
For all the wrong reasons maybe
I have pictures from the first hotimport nights show it was showcased in. I still have that magazine as well I have lots of importtunner mags
Every detail on this car was amazing his whole crew rolled deep and displayed so wow. Female MAC and her crew... Craig and ART N MOTION.. ETC
Super cool!!!
I feel like I'm checking in with people I knew of from honda-tech 20 years ago
What a wave of nostalgia! Also Im glad the front bumper wasnt attatched when it decided to roll away and smash the front support.
Love the return of the melodic transitions ♥️
Gosh this takes me back
This car is legendary
Clean car man i remember my brother buying that magazine.
Those were the days...... That said, I'd love to see this car totally rebuilt in the total opposite direction. 'Built By Legends' style.
Thanks for bringing this to light
Man I remember being like 7 years old seeing that import tuner issue at I think a Ralph’s. Insane knowing that it’s still around.
There is definitely levels to this. Awesome work as usual!
Wow. That’s crazy.
😢 great episode. Really enjoyed the series and sad it’s over but looking forward to seeing what’s next.

Music and photos giving me some gran tourismo vibes
Definitely remember seeing this car
My GEN growing up!!!
Wow this took me back that car had a lot of fans here in Baltimore
Looked at old photos online and that bracket near the glove box looks like it was for the ps2 wires/bracket to hold it in place. Dang a lot of electronics were sold
My first car was an ek. Because I saw this in the Import Tuner Cover. Damn miss that car
Mad Respect for putting this together and Best Wishes to keep putting out great content like this always, But It's sad to see a car so beautiful and loved before just left in the corner not understood and appreciated for the love of the game, now feeling how the future of our Lifestyle deading away
Amazing work !!
dammmmmn, Kuya with the Hanes Sedan! So great to see this again.
damn would love to buy the car and put it back together in that front end that he was talking about is a Domani front end that was in the video LJ Garcia rip
LJ is still alive lol
Nice find, I remember seeing that under a cover at the old place. Nice to see Katman making an appearance.
Man, I want that car. Yes it’s dated, yes it has problems, but you just don’t see this anymore and it still looks good even if it’s dated.
That is so cool just looking at the old school build on civic hope someone can bring it back to life!!!!🔰🤙
Joey thank u for doing these videos man this is awesome .
Damm I remember seeing that hatch at all the car shows. Hope to see it running and restored one day. Perfect #TBT
All the feels, love your take on preservation
Thank you!
Suspension probably them old skool Air Canisters before Airbags came out... i remmeber those.. U can 3wheel a honda but in a reversed way, like a lowrider on hydros
Restoring it and remedying the shortcuts would be the best build series ever.

Time capsule masterclass by Joey
Thank you!
