- There was a time when the exquisite blue-green waters of Martvili Canyon were only open to Georgian nobles, who would visit to bathe. Now, everyone is welcome to boat and swim here. The picturesque natural wonder is located in Samegrelo, a coastal region of Georgia known for being a historical center of the country’s cuisine and culture. The two-level canyon is thick with moss and other plant life and dotted with waterfalls and caves. And even on the hottest days of summer, the water that pools in the lower level of the canyon is refreshingly cool.

Ugh I want to go to Georgia so bad
Beautiful but hard to reach if you don't have a personal car. You need to get to an agreement with a taxi driver about your price. You can take a bus from zugdidi to the nearest city and from there take a taxi or pay a driver to take you there from zugdidi, wait for you and take you back. Its not very pricey (not very cheap either) but as you get there you need to find a tour guide to let you through. Boyfriend and I wanted to walk there but they closed the door leading to the canyons and on Monday they don't open in the morning so we could only see 6 the surroundings. Our driver took us to a place nearby that was part of the canyons just to get a taste of it but it's only good for pictures as it is small.
We wanna go again, another day of the week.

I was in Georgia last year and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Beautiful countryside, friendly people, great food. Cheap too! Highly recommend it.
