I use Linux and while I personally think it's great, I also understand some people just simply prefer windows and that's fine I mean sometimes I miss how easy it was to just use most apps without having to worry about if it's compatible with my OS. There are alternatives to most proprietary software that Windows users like to use, some of which are completely free of charge (GIMP for photo manipulation for example), not to mention the Steam client on Linux has the Proton compatibility layer enabling games without a native port to run pretty smoothly. It's actually how the Steam Deck works. Also, beginner friendly Linux distros do exist. I use Ubuntu (duh), however many recommend Linux Mint thanks to it's easy transition from Windows. I used it for quite a bit as well. Speaking of Windows, due to Windows 10 support ending in about 10 months, and Windows 11 being incompatible with quite a huge percentage of hardware, not to mention the newly added AI features and... Recall (aka spyware basically), the Linux market share is really starting to go up. We could see a huge increase once Windows 10 support officially ends. But whatever you do, please, DO NOT run "sudo rm -rf ./" in the terminal. You will wipe your hard drive completely. Correction: the correct command is actually "sudo rm -rf /*"

Although this issue should be mostly fixed or will be completely fixed in the next few months with Nvidia directly contributing to the linux kernel. They already started shipping drivers with dlss under proton and other such goodies.

Hey daily driver linux user here. Im 15 and i have a low ende chromebook which i hacked to run different oses. I used both windows and linux on this. I can say window and linux mint have the same user friendliness. And whilst software is a big issue if more people switched to linux it would push developers to make for linux. Another thing. Windows has the ensurance that youre not gonna break your system but a stereotype in linux is that you can easily break it. You cant trust me. I would seriously reccomend dual booting linux mint and windows and only use windows for what you need. You will see a significant increase in performance as well as it is generally a nicer os.

Linux is teaching you there are alternatives for it and they are simply usable. %97 games are for Windows then Linux is on the second floor, you can play %66 of games on Windows in Linux and you can compile your own kernel and drivers for better performance.
On Mint i use davinci resolve, Photopea, Krita and Inkscape and Darktable for my creative work and it works decently. Not as good as Adobe but i can get the job done 100%. You can definitely make videos on Linux, you just gotta stop paying the pizzo to Adobe for allowing you to work on your own machine

The Cinnamon desktop environment (used in Linux Mint) is the closest to Windows' appearance. KDE Plasma is pretty close as well.
