So laughing at others who are comfortable crying, making them feel uncomfortable with it just like you are, is toxic. Having a good cry sometimes is good for you. It's fine if you don't want to cry, but OP is right, not laughing makes him a good boyfriend in this situation.

If you see your friend crying over a fictional story, and your head space is in the context that this is fictional it can be funny - there is humor in this scenario. if you are offended than you are more hurt over the fact that you feel invalidated, which is a personal issue. yes the other person could be respectful and not laugh but that would require knowing ahead of time that you feel the need for your feelings to be validated. most people’s don’t live their lives revolved around each other’s feelings - we just live by each other.

Literally cried Along with Devi it was so heartbreaking seeing Hiruzen Dying and also the Hokage funeral melody works like a lemon on the wound.
That's the job of Hokage to protect the village, if situations like this would come, even if if it means to sacrifice his own life
