Both the First Hokage and Second Hokage were summoned with ~30%-40% of their true strenght because Orochimaru's Edo Tensei (Reanimation) was far from perfection, otherwise the Third would have no chance against them, remember when they were summoned they were known as the most powerful ninjas the hidden leaf village ever had.
Was about to question why Orochimaru was able to control the First and Second, when in Shippuden he feared the First easily breaking out of his control, and the Second being the inventor of Edo Tensei would know of the ability to rescind that contract from his end. But now raises another question: if Orochimaru's Edo Tensei was not perfect and reanimations have unlimited chakra, how the hell does he restrict their power? How can you limit the unlimited if you can't even control the jutsu that perfectly?

Its really sad what Orochimaru has become. He is a genius, he wants to know every jutsu and all secrets behind everything. For that, he has to become immortal. Wars, suffering, and so many deaths changed him. He became obsessed with his experiments and the idea of immortality.

Now he's the type of guy who wants to take over the bodies of young boys with conjunctivitis. and this episode we had a showcase of jutsus made by the 2nd Hokage himself, this son of a Senjuu made everyone's lifes even harder XD
This fight would be one-sided if Orochimaru decided to be serious but in fact he was toying with his sensei. There was no need for Minato to be summoned
So basically 3rd hokage was student of one of the 1st 2 hokages then 3rd hogage was jiraya and orochimarus sensei then 4th hokage was a student of jiraya and Kakashi was 4th hokages student and thats was sequence of pictures shown

Oh my god I literally cried at the last scene. Really I have watched whole naruto series 2 times but it hits everytime all the emotional scene. It is only one of the few animes that made me cry. Really one of the great anime.
Why do some of these comments discredit and disrespect Saru ? it does not matter how strong they were, no one in the leaf could take them on at 30% w/ Oroachimaru but Hiruzen. It's an impressive feat no matter how you slice it. Also...stop spoiling, they are not even that far in the story to know the details regarding how strong Lord 1st and 2nd were.
Orochimaru is my favourite character in Naruto. He is wrong and all, but his motives and feelings were something I could relate to. There will be a lot of things in store till the last episode of Naruto series (minus majority of the fillers).
