It's actually illigal to kill nonvenomous snakes. Snakes are a very important part of our eco system. Also, most snake bites happen when humans attempt to kill them. They are only defending themselves when humans give them no choice but to strike.

I lived in a western state for 5 years and loved the countryside, hated the cold, had a child, got divorced and decided to move back east where my family lived. I knew it was the best thing for everyone since my ex had already moved 3 states away. Even knowing that, I bemoaned my decision and didn’t appreciate what I had here. Another 20 years and my parents have passed away and sibling no longer lives nearby. But my daughter and her family are here and as long as they are nearby, I am grateful and happy. Your oldest children won’t be in junior or high school for much longer and by the time the farm and house is in any condition for the entire family to live in comfortably, they may be in college, married or working and out on their own. If you and Bri decide to stay in the big house, stay with a cheerful heart and mind because if you have resentment or anger about “your sacrifice for everyone else’s happiness”, those feelings will be like a cancer eating at your relationship with all those you think are the source of having to make that “sacrifice/decision” and everyone will be unhappy. Pray first, last and always while being willing to wait for his leading and go (or stay) where he shows you. 🙏🙏🙏

I ordered myself a pair of Hisea boots last year and I love them. They are so comfortable.
I too was petrified of snakes and I didn’t care what kind they were. Our middle son invited me to join a snake page on Facebook for Oklahoma snakes and I have learned so much and can now identify most of them. Our neighbor texted me the other night to send my husband to kill a snake. I went with him and told her it was a rat snake and it was looking for food and to let it live. She said her dog had been chasing mice in her backyard. That is why the snake was in her yard.

The happiness of your children and even yourselves is So much more evident when you all are at the farm, or seems to be. Your boys running through the fields and into the woods and the twins playing creek side and everyone working together to accomplish tasks. I don't know how you guys are even able to leave the farm to go back into the city, it's like leaving a safe refuge. If it were me I think I'd make the choice based on the younger kids. They have a longer time to be at home. I grew up in a family that moved several times, and I left friends behind each time, but they weren't lost to me. When we Finally got settled, some of those friends got to come stay with me during holidays or summertime. Decades later I am Still friends with most of the friends I moved away from. Don't beat yourself up Bri. I'd probably have killed that snake too. I don't kill every snake but that one did resemble a copperhead. If it had been a Copperhead, the process of trying to figure that out could have gotten you bit.

It’s lovely to see the family all back on the farm again. I can see that you are in a hard place of deciding which children need their desires fulfilled the most. So many things to think about and it’s hard to choose what to do. It won’t be very long before Grace and Joyful will be able to drive themselves where they want to go and a little longer when they will be out on their own. I know it feels like that’s a long time in the future, but you’ll blink and it will be here.
Arthur, you have worked and are still working on your mental health and changing your behavior, and I’m proud of you for that. The mountains and river feed your spirit, which is awesome. I could be wrong, but it feels to me that there is a spiritual devotion that may need more time and attention, lots of habitual time spent in reading the Bible and in prayer. That will do more for you and your family than either of the other things. I am saying this out of love and experience. I want so much to see you all well and thriving together, and to get there, the house must be built on the rock.

You guys should be proud of your family. Your children truly understand hard work, and a difference between it and play! They are clearly comfortable with both as well as expressing love for their family and the life around them in the outdoors.
The decision that is in front of both art and Bre with regards to, returning to the farm or not is not going to be an easy decision, and I couldn’t begin to express my thought and I would not because I think too many people won’t think about that may or may not affect you and it really needs to be your decision and the family decision. God bless you both and you the most heavily in your heart and mind. I truly enjoyed this video. I grew up in a family with 12 children and we bought 100-year-old house when I was 10 and it took this kind of hard work at restoring the land and the home and the barn etc.. Eventually, we built a new house but it took a good 6 to 8 years to complete and then probably four more before it was torn down. Meaning the old original house. I will pray for you guys and I do truly wish you the bestand I’ll be praying for your prayers to be heard by God and help you to find solution and peace of mind and make this decision. Love you guys.

filling a 20# cylinder can only be done if the tank is still within date..what i mean by that is that there is a date on the collar you need to add 10 years to that date ,if it's passed that date you might want to trade it in for a different tank...also look for one that doesn"t have an "indented" triangle on the right side of the valve, that triangle keeps cylinders from being filled at most stations cause it"s like a magnet that most refill nozzles can"t open...i work at a station and this is part of my job ...so hope this helps

    VERY IMPORTANT!
My husband is an amputee. He lost his leg 23 years ago in an industrial accident. We have had the opportunity to talk to many people about how they lost their limbs and a lot of them got a life threatening infection and the only way to stop the infection was to amputate. The one that I will never forget was a young teen girl who had to have her leg amputated right at the hip which is really bad. She told me that a few years earlier she had gone to a petting zoo with her family. Before they went she trimmed her toe nails and put on a new color of nail polish to match her new sandals. What she didn't know was that she had a tiny cut from trimming her nails and when she went to the petting zoo in her new sandles she stepped in animal poop and the germs made their way into that tiny cut and she ended up with a very bad infection and didn't tell her parents until it was far too late and the infection became life threatening and they had to amputate her leg at 16 because she should have worn shoes and not sandals at a petting zoo and will live with that for the rest of her life. Just recently, my renter of over 20 years recently had to have his leg amputated above his knee because he and his brother went to cut wood for this last winter and he got a small cut that he admits he should have paid more attention to. By the time he went to the doctor it was too late. They tried amputating below the knee but infection had gone higher than they realized and had to go back and amputate above the knee. He is getting ready to be fitted with his first prosthetic. My point is that your kids and you should all be wearing socks and shoes when you are working out in the dirt. I live in the country and raise cows and I make sure when I go out in the pastures I wear my shoes. One amputee in the family is enough!

Everyone needs their space and privacy. I just don't see HOW you all can go back to living in that camper again. :( If you could just take one room at a time and work on that in the farmhouse that would be awesome. :) One bedroom and then another until you get ea. room done so it wont be soooo overwhelming. I know friends of mine that works with carpenters that always have left over items when done on reinvating a home or building one. That would be a good resource to get things for free even if it is small. One and two makes 3 and before long you got one room done. I've seen doors go for 25 ea. on Facebook marketplace a whole bunch. Toilets, same and insulation cheap on there as well. Pallets in most places are free and that would be sooooo cool on a farmhouse wall or ceiling. I would LOVE to see Bris dream come true on that house.

As a parent that has a kid from 16 going on 17 to 7 years old.. if the older ones desire more City Life per se and the younger ones want to live out in the country consider the time they are going to be staying there in your home still. The 17 year old may move out in a few years were the seven year old is going to be spinning 10 plus more years. Hopefully that helps some❤

The best is to think of the future of the kids...everything we do in life now is to help them with a future...where they live now...although they have amazing connections might not work in the long run or their friends will move on in life?...either way you guys will know when the time is right what to do❤️

Propane tanks do have an expiry date on them so no one will refill them past that date. Just be aware of the date before they expire and a lot of places will just take in your close to expired tank and give you a new tank.

If you peel the yuca and cook them in the instant pot with salt its just a delicious starch! Or make a beef stew with it, OMG its so delicious! I grew up eating it in South America

It’s so funny that you’re talking about the propane tanks. My husband just explained this to me. He said he will do an exchange for tanks when he needs to buy a new one and then he won’t go back there to refill it. They do a little bit on the gas. They don’t fill the tank completely. But it is a great deal if you need a new tank.

The propane company that supplies the homestead tanks in our area also have a refill pump for the small propane tanks. They have to be the one's to refill them but it was sooooo much cheaper to have done. We will definitely be using this option instead of the exchange option from now on.
I love your family being at the farm, the kids are relaxed and more themselves, as are you & Bri. Lots to pray about for sure.

Art we take our propane tanks to a local company to get them filled. We get a full tank for super cheap! Great suggestion!

I exchange tanks when the tank is getting close to its inspection date or something looks off. Part of their fee is inspection. For refills I go to an Amish hardware store for propane. I use 100 pounds a year for cooking and the cost is $50-60. Refilling is a lot cheaper.

I learned all about propane and propane tanks when I moved to appalachia. I was scared of it at first, and then now after 4 yrs, I have propane delievered. I got tired of hauling propane in the winter. 100# tanks are no joke when you are reaching 50. the prices during the last 2 yrs have raised and lowered a lil bit. but its about 2.99 a gal. having it delievered adds a delevery cost and rental of the tanks every year. But, when you look at gasoline prices and parts for cars. paying to have 120 gal delivered that will last about 3 weeks in hard winter temps is worth it.

I hope you find q different solution to improve the barn door by next winter...the idea of screwing the door shut means any emergency you loose your cows..an easy fix would be to have a slip rail on outside of the door.

My neighbor burns his yard early spring every year. In August, when many of the other neighbors' lawns are brown, his is lush and green. And I know that many farmers will burn their fields now and then.
