  • This is part 2. This was taken during the total solar eclipse at 3:32 pm on 4/8/24 on US Rt 2A in the haunted "Haynesville Woods" in Haynesville, Maine a little ways southwest of Houlton, Maine. Note that the digital camera in my phone makes it look significantly lighter/brighter than it actually was to your naked eyes. It was actually significantly darker in person than the camera makes it look. But, this is what I got. I had never seen a solar eclipse until I saw the "annular" eclipse while in Lewiston, ME 30 years ago on 5/10/94. I remember thinking then "Hmmm...it looks like you are wearing sunglasses." I always remembered that and was expecting something like that again today, but maybe with a darker pair of sunglasses. But, I was totally blown away today. I was parked up on Rt 2A in the "Haynesville Woods" south of Houlton. I couldn't believe it. For a while it looked like wearing sunglasses, but it continued to get darker. Still looked like darker sunglasses. Then, all of a sudden, like within a few seconds, it became DARK, like night (well, early night, like very late dusk with only a glow on the horizon. Like what it looks like 45 minutes after sunset. CRAZY!! The craziest part was how sudden it was. You can hear how much it surprised me. I was shocked at how dark it got and fast it happened when it did. Like a bright sunny afternoon wearing sunglasses, and then it suddenly turns to very late dusk / early night within a few seconds. CRAZY!!!
