I'm not a Japanese speaker, but I get what you mean.
I think the simplest way to explain it is, they're homonyms (いったい and 痛い). To non Japanese speakers, they sound kinda the same.
Like "real" and "reel" in English. They're pronounced the same way, but have different spellings and meanings.
I'm not sure if ya'll are family or not... but if you are that's super cool that you watch these together in my books.

Netero's backstory is just lovely characterization to me. Like yea he's strong but it's a result of nature giving him his potential and then him being passionate and purposed enough live up to his potential. It fits with his personality as well, being kinda crazy but grateful towards everything

Regarding the Youpi thing, the narrator was saying that they didn't count on seeing him at the stairs. Remember, the guards are supposed to be glued to the king. Up until he demanded to be given space (when he hit Youpi), there was always one guard within close proximity. And since Pitou was doing en surveillance and Pouf was ensnaring the masses, Youpi should have been right where the king, not by the stairs. The reason why they had designated targets was because they planned on separating the King from his guards, do a little divide and conquer. Hope that cleared that up :)

note about Netero's age: they never specified his actual age in anime or manga, and in this episode it only says "over sixty years ago" which could mean much more than sixty, and in the manga Beans (his secretary 'the green short dude') stated when asked about Netero's age by other hunters (examiners) that Netero has been saying that he's100 years old for 20 years now, also there's more debate about his age in recent manga content.
Note about Netero's personality: regarding his personality it would be better to look at the hunter's exam and how he designed it in a way that all the weak would most definitely die and the only ones who would progress are the physically and mentally strong, he could've made it in a way that's way less dangerous if he wanted to or if he valued life as much, anddd also the way he has his own plan with Zeno (grandpa zoldic) to drop a little deadly dragons on the palace at the exact same time as the other hunters are entering without giving them any type of warning, that would be the equivalent of bumping the location you sent your army to (to me).
Narrator could get annoying to some in these coming episodes, but he will give u a good since of the time and how slow it is, and also about abilities amd situations will be explained by the narrator, and alot of character development will be done through narration.

And yeah now that you mention it the dragon dive DOES seem like something he would do without warning lol. Here i was trying to think how he could forget but he just figured they would be ok. Narrator might grow on me . While he seems unneeded sometimes , other times he drops great lines and gives crucial info the audience wouldn't pick up on so im alright with him. No doubt the show is only going to get better from here
