The Blackbird is a wonderful long distance bike and it probably the coolest "sport-touring" bike you can get besides of course and H2 SX. But even now, the Blackbird is still superb, and hard to beat for what you can pick them up for these days.
None of these bikes will ever replace my 22 year old Honda Super Blackbird! Absolutely the best Sport Tourer there is IMO! My wife is completely satisfied with her Yamaha FJ09 and will not replace it. We also have dual sport and ADV bikes from Honda and KTM, but our top choices for road trips are our CBR and FJ’s.
Kawasaki has 4 great sport touring options, each takes you in different directions and power levels. Ninja 1000sx, VerSys 1000, Concourse 14, and the H2sx.
I'm very happy to see the Suzuki gsxs1000gt made the list! As a dad that owns one, I can say that it doesn't break the bank and I can still relive my gixxer bro days of my past
As some one with a gsxs 1000 gt... Can't recommend it enough. awesome power in A mode and then you can scooter it with C mode. Incredibly stable in corners as well.
father of 3 boys, beside my SuperMOTO (KLX 300sm) and my Naked sports bike (Ducati Monster 1200r) my go to touring is 2010 Honda VFR1200f DCT. altho it lack of some of the newer "gadget" of the modern sport tourer but with 170hp at the crank it can surely keep up with most of the bike in this list. a V4 engine with Honda's reliability. and best of all, one of the only DCT on a sports bike. with Bar riser, Corbin seat lower footpeg and taller windscreen, its as comfy on the highway as it is on the mountain twisties.
37yr old Dad of 3 and I went Sport Heritage instead of Touring. I saw the new rendition of the XSR900 and instantly fell in love! Maybe my next bike will be a touring style.
I had a Kawi Concours 14 for several years. Rode it from Nellis Air Force Base (Las Vegas) to Vandenberg AFB (Lompoc CA) twice a year when I was a Weapons School Instructor. Great on the highway, but around town it seemed top heavy and really didn't like slow speed maneuvering. Traded it in on a Suzuki Gixxer 750, my favorite bike ever. Now I ride a Triumph Street Triple RS. A very good bike, but I still miss my Gixxer.
Got the Supersport 950 for 2 years now and its awesome, the sound is deep and rich and it does reach 250km/h in favourable conditions. I love it and i wouldn't change it for anything (maybe Panigale V4S). It's a looker and the power is great for the street.
Snap... Had mine 12000 miles and 1 year old... Fantastic bike after a few small mods (screen, rubber pegs, 15mm ducabike bar risers)... Just completed 2000 miles in bad weather and she did wonderfully on motorways and Twisties!
I got my HyperStrada eleven months before becoming a Dad. Excellent timing on my part. I wish it handled a passenger a little better but it’s a blast solo.
Hey, I have a Corbin seat laying around that I had for my 16. Guess it was like $800 when new. Still like new. Hit me up if interested.. I’ll sell for cheap 👍
Interesting to see the Ducati Supersport appear in the list. As a 6ft person in my mid 50's. it was amazing to me how comfortable the bike is completely stock. Did a fly/ride for the 939 version last year. 1200 miles in 2 days and I could still stand upright at the end of the day.
I tour on my MT-10. Bought hard saddle bags and luggage rack, touring windscreen, and a comfort seat. She doesn't have long legs but damn shes fun to tour on. Plus when I'm not touring I take off the bags, windscreen, swap the clipon instead of the handlebar; bam shes a track monster too!
I never managed to procreate(that I know of), but I did just go for a nice sporty 950 mile loop last week that earned me a performance award for 84 in a 60, and a car wheel weight penetrating my rear tire ten miles from home!
I tested the S 1000 XR when it first came out and loved it...except the vibrations were so bad my right hand went numb, and it was a bit high for my short inseam. I tested the Ducati Supersport. The rear cylinder was incredibly hot on my legs, the mirrors vibrated to the point of uselessness, and it would keep hitting false neutrals between 3rd and 4th and 4th and 5th. I also tried a used H2 SX SE (H too sexy), but the previous owner had modified it to hit 230hp and the throttle response was terrible. I currently have a 2022 Ninja 1000 SX, and love it. It's as much fun as my friends' sport bikes on the street, and I can still walk after an hour of riding. It should be on this list, or in the super tier sport touring video.
Traded a 400 for the 1000sx , wife rides with me now. Minus the stupid design of the fairings where my knee lands when I go to shift, I love this bike more and more . 1000 miles on the odometer and I learn more about it and my riding skills every day . Totally added the shad39 top case both for the backrest for the wife and for the commute to work . Worth it

Glad my SuperSport 950 gets a mention. Bit of a misfit maybe in that it really doesn’t look like a touring bike, and doesn’t have cruise control. But the looks are what sold me on it. The ergos are good too though. And it’s pretty light and agile. So it checks a lot of boxes. I think it’s a keeper.
My budget was kind of low and also needed a rear seat that offered more padding than the NEW standard of a folded panty liner ,so we got a Suzuki bandit 1250 . Yeah she is heavy but super reliable and very comfortable with more than enough pace for me
I wish Honda still made the VFR800 Interceptor. I currently have the 2007 25th Anniversary and I want a new one. I don't think I can give up the V4 engine and the center stand is very useful. And that VTEC is honestly a lot of fun
Triumph Tiger 900 GT- I use it as a sport tourer.. the tires even say tourer. Doubt I will ever take it off-road as I have a dual-sport, so this makes a good sport tourer with many of the same items as these bikes, for a bit less.. I was considering the Tracer 9 GT, but that was over 2K more.
The ktm demo modes is bs. The modes are already installed on the bike that the buyer purchased. Why put it behind a pay wall. KTM was one of my favorite brands. But I won't support that.
Had a 2016 XR with a full Akro system and RapidBike tune…..would wheelie in 4th in triple digits. I regret selling it 🤦♂️. 5 Stars Highly Recommended.
Just had to put loctite on the rear belt sprocket bolts for the second time, the rear view mirrors, the gas tank, and passenger pegs. Then I noticed there were like 5 missing bolts and 2 random wiring harnesses that were just hanging there on my 03 Harley Deuce. I took it to a dealer ship cause it wasn't running right, I paid $1,200 for a new ignition, a new tire, and a bolt that looks like it was welded to the frame so the gas tank stops flying up when I hit a bump but the weld broke, left me with all original fluids. Then gave me trouble over inspection cause the forks are like 2 inches longer. Oh and the day I brought it home the shifter fell off so I had to ride an extra 6 miles in 5th gear on top of the 3 I had till i was home, it was also the first time I had to tighten the rear sprocket. It was my dad's he left it to me in his will, I love all bikes but I'd never buy a Harley
My little squids are out of college and grad school and now have jobs sufficient to support themselves. Suddenly, I can afford to buy a new H2SX every 12 weeks and have tons of free time. AI can't do those jobs and you will not need a six-figure loan to get started.
I have been hoping Yammie would do a review of the H2 SX SE. He's had reviews of the other 2 H2 variants. The H2 SX SE seems like it is the closest offering to being a sport bike, while still in the touring category. I've seriously been considering this bike because of all of the technology and of course the supercharger chirps.

My last super sport I couldn't ride for more than 25-30 min without my back aching. I am super happy there are less aggressive sport tourers out their for us aging sport bike lovers!!!!
The KTM SMT is fun AF to ride, it really is a peach. But for pure sport touring dad energy, you need look no further then the Kawi 1000SX. That machine will do everything you can possibly want and need.
Im thinking the tracer 9 is probably the only worthy sport TOURING bike here. Id take a crack at that moto guzzi though. I need to at least get 250miles on a tank which hardly any of these could. Our decisions will obviously be different. I live in the middle of the country so my #1 priority is range......good range.....at least 300+miles per tank so it doesnt take me forever to get to the cool riding areas. Which is why i bought my ST1300. Comfortable, quick enough to have tons of fun and reliable as hell. Not to mention the entry price point is low.
The GSXS 1000 GT+ is just the thing for a decent commute. Add a bigger front sprocket, heated grips and a decent brake master cylinder and it’s truly excellent. Given that cost less than $700, I don’t know why Suzuki didn’t sell it that way to begin with.
I'm actually thinking of going old school fast Dad. I'm looking for a ZZR1100 or even going full retrowave and going for a 1980s ZX10 for some fast, carb fed goodness.
@@Strontium_Dog too old... Try a newer bike with quick shifter and nice TFT screen with rider modes etc and you won't look back to older models with no ABS etc....
@@DucaTi_mD You think they are death traps, simply because they have analogue clocks and no quick shifter or rider modes? I would suggest you need to improve your rider skills if you struggle without these things. Learn how a use a clutch and how to modulate throttle/brake inputs. Folk managed to ride motorcycles without quickshifters etc for over a hundred years without much issue. If you struggle without these things, might I suggest you try a nice automatic scooter, instead. Also, I have tried new bikes and the tech brings nothing to the experience for me.
@@Strontium_Dog😂 Being an older "fast dad" that has ridden on all sorts of bikes over the years since 1989 (sports / cruise / scooter / touring etc) I resent your comment about my riding skills. However I'm not biased on any type of motorcycle, small or large, new or old. So long as your enjoying your two wheel steed is good enough for me. Have fun whatever you choose my biking buddy.
I'm glad these exist, despite reminding me of racing SUVs. All those promo shots of them going knee down with the side cases millimeters away from the pavement is ... a bit much.
The Moto Guzzi is the best looking bike of the lot...by a mile. In fact, it's one of the two best looking bikes on the market today. I'm just worried about reliability.
2 weeks im picking my 890 smt up. Very excited with the Remus exhaust and everything. Wanted a bit more comfort with my 1,90m length than my current naked motorcycle, but still lots of fun and power. Im 29 btw haha and not a dad.
Should mention for the people that don't keep up on tuning news that any H2 SX SE after 2021 can not be flashed as of right now. So if they want one to tune it needs to be 2021 or older.
Kawi GPZ1300 was a bike in this class that appealed to me. More than enough power, with a bulletproof transmission and sharp looks. Hard to beat it, literally. Definitely NOT for noobs.
Would these be more like super sport tour bikes or something? I thought my Concours was a sport-tour and has decent power-to-weight ratio but the ones on this list are wheelie machines compared to my ‘18 Connie, right?
Got lucky and came across a crashed 939 Supersport with 3K on her for 5K fixed for 1K she's my 6K daily, track and trip ride, have had her about a year now.
Think I'm gonna get the Ninja 650 as my first "BIG boy" bike, i had an Aprilia RS125 two stroke 20 years ago (the 34bhp one) i loved that bike probably spent as much time broken as it did on thr Road but when I was riding i ragged thr hell out of it to the point where i look back now and im suprised im still with us, being an immature headcase with 0 self preservation and was going to buy a 2006 Ninja 636. Then I became a father. I sold my bike and gear and conentrated on on my family. I Woke up a month ago with a real itch to get back on a bike. Now with a couple of decades on me now married to my then girlfriend and we have two kids. Maturity defiantly chills you out but I must admit just the thought of jumping back on a bike makes my boy brain go nuts, perhaps it's a bad idea lol
Don't do it, get the new Suzuki GSX-8R instead. More power, more torque, more tech, same agronomics, better looks in my opinion. I love mine and highly recommend it.
Curious 🤔 how come you didn’t mention Yamaha’s FJR 13000 or the Kawasaki Concours 14 models. I mean… they’re a lil old school but, there’re in my price point used. Just wondering how those two add up to the ones you mentioned in your list.
Well as a single dad I would have to add the CFMoto 700 CLX, The Yammi MT07, and the Kawasaki Ninja 400...why? Cheaper insurance rates and the bikes themselves are a lot cheaper than the ones presented in this video. As a single dad i make the decision but if you have a Mrs. not keen on you spending all that much money....might be a better option to avoid her wrath. God bless, stay safe, enjoy the ride!
Still not sure how I feel about KTM my friend's dad had one of the original first gen Dukes and I wasn't very impressed with it but I haven't got to ride this newer generation
What about Honda? It is an absolute must for the responsible fast dad. Besides his Volvo and his Golden Retriever. The Honda NT 1100 is a fine pick. I have a Honda XL 1000 Varadero. From 2004 with almost 70000 miles on the clock. But what can you expect in a country with free healthcare and education and 150% tax on motor vehicles. It is not the fastest and not the slowest, but reliable and comfortable as an old armchair and that’s enough for me as a fast grand dad.
I would love to be able to afford an h2 SX I'm not a huge Kawasaki person but I absolutely love the H2 I think it is an awesome platform they did a really nice job on that bike. Honestly it would be a tough choice between that and the Hayabusa
I have the Beluga Whale (2022 Gen 3 Busa) . . . to designate it as a Sport Tourer is wrong, it's a misnomer, even if Suzuki may call it or others, ... get the H2 SX SE instead, .... thought I would make it easier for you... glad if this helps..! I also own 2023 XDiavel, 2021 Trident 660, 2024 Scrambler 400X .... & prebooked the RE Shotgun 650
I've had the KTM 1290 GT for a few weeks now, went on a longer ride. After an hour, wasn't feeling very tour- like or comfortable. Any ideas on mods to increase comfort over longer distance? Doesn't seem to be much aftermarket for KTM.

Dude just read us 7 sales brochures and said fck it that's the vid lol
Excellent job yet again yammy, highly informative and funny as f$%k!
Gonna buy a Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak and break the coast to coast motorcycle record 😎
get Multistrada V4 RS instead
I'm actually thinking of going old school fast Dad. I'm looking for a ZZR1100 or even going full retrowave and going for a 1980s ZX10 for some fast, carb fed goodness.
Just to add, I've just found a mint ZZR1100 for £2K! 170 mph for two grand! Just think about that.
@@DucaTi_mD I see you edited out your comment regarding older bikes being death traps. Too late.
Thanks for the peek at what you do during your lunch break at your shop. 😂
I'm glad these exist, despite reminding me of racing SUVs. All those promo shots of them going knee down with the side cases millimeters away from the pavement is ... a bit much.
Love from India, Pls come to Jharkhand its much unexplored by bikers!!!!
Kawi concourse 1400 = great dad bike to commute on, even if you need triple digits to get around traffic.
Supersport S is the only option worth pursuing on this list
Kawi GPZ1300 was a bike in this class that appealed to me. More than enough power, with a bulletproof transmission and sharp looks. Hard to beat it, literally. Definitely NOT for noobs.
Would these be more like super sport tour bikes or something? I thought my Concours was a sport-tour and has decent power-to-weight ratio but the ones on this list are wheelie machines compared to my ‘18 Connie, right?
How does Tiger GT stack up?
4 days ago...slowing down. 3 months ago, fast bikes posing as touring bikes. A shift in the force.
While the Suzuki may be perceived as a tad déclassé but it looks way better than the Beamer XR to me. The XR looks like something on stilts IDK
Yamster, well done on including the often-overlooked Ducati "Panigale for your dad" SuperSport. Yes, I am a dad and I have one. 👩🦼😃
No zzr1400 or busa? The classic fast dad 'sport' (hyper) tourers?
4 kids with H2 sx se , and cfmoto ibex 800 explorer on the way .
My old 2014 s1000r bmw has charge points for phone which I love👍🏻
@@michaelklodos4045 friend has a transalp 750 and it's geourgous for eating up miles and miles
Just purchased ninja 1000sx 2024
They don't make them anymore, but I like the VFR1200F.
Maaaan, ima buy a touring bike this weekend. This video couldn’t have come at a better time 🤣🤣
Hoping my choice is on here but likely not lol
Sad face, it isn’t lol
Can’t wait to get my FJR 1300 anyway 🤣
145hp and 98lb ft isn’t nothing to laugh at I don’t think lol
Got a ninja 1000sx
I am happy with it
The GSX1000GX is more of a S1000XR competition. Both are 'tall rounders' and the GX has an IMU unlike the GT.
Honestly, I’m going from an R1250RT to…something. Both those are on the short list.
I love these, but I might need a “used and cheap” best sport-touring bikes 😂😂😂
Yamaha say not to put panniers and top box on the tracer just one on the other like at 9:28 seriously considering one til i heard this
Honda's VFR800F Interceptor. Never has a Touring bike captured my heart like it did
The VFR1200f though 😊
Why is the transalp not on the list?
Great video man ❤
I would love to be able to afford an h2 SX I'm not a huge Kawasaki person but I absolutely love the H2 I think it is an awesome platform they did a really nice job on that bike.
Let's prove to Yammie that there's more than 5 Google Pixel Owners. P8Pro let's gooo!
My 22' H2' SX-SE has destroyed my Goldwing weekend riding - so saddddddd
How are the xr and t9gt classified as sports tourer than an adventure
I tour on Honda VFR 1200 ( i guess in the US.. Interceptor 1200)
They sell hard bags for Busas. You know it's true Yams.

I've had the KTM 1290 GT for a few weeks now, went on a longer ride. After an hour, wasn't feeling very tour- like or comfortable. Any ideas on mods to increase comfort over longer distance? Doesn't seem to be much aftermarket for KTM.
Doesn't the V100 have airbrakes in America? You failed to mention it so I thought I'd ask.
