I’m pretty late to this, but now I’m wondering where my matco 1/4 is made. Looks identical minus the handle profile.
Just an FYI, I've heard multiple professional mechanics who mostly use snap on and tool truck ratchets rave about the duralast 1/4 flex head you can pick up for 20 something bucks at Auto zone. I think it's like 100 tooth. I haven't picked one up yet but I plan on checking it out.
Ive been eye balling these for a little while now to add to my standard milwaukee ratchets. Great review, and thanks for the video.
Thank you glad you enjoyed
so happy i’ve been waiting for you to review the new ratchet, thank you so much
Sorry. This video should have been posted along time ago and realized I never posted it. Glad you enjoyed
I love Milwaukee hand tools but I don't have alot of them because they are higher priced then most competitive brands. But the ones I have I do like and enjoy. But sometimes they seem to be getting in that snap on place where they want to much for what you get. But so far the quality has been there to support them and that's what matters. Glad to see movement towards usa tools and they have started replacing craftsman in my area and icon has dropped the ball in my area but the craftsman void is slowly being filled
Thank you. Just about to buy their full socket set for packout and was wondering how their flex head ones were to add on. I guess I know where my next pay check is going.
Haha right. I was very impressed with the ratchet.
Also, I have the titan flex head 1/4" it's 12 inches long with comfort grip... It's 36 tooth and pretty strong. I have not had any issues. Plus it's like $20 bucks. Idk man just a suggestion. Thanks for the video.
milwaukee ratchets are extremely underrated. my 1/4 has ridiculously low backdrag compared to my other 1/4 ratchets. Only my koken beats it, but the milwaukee has a lot more teeth and feels more fine with less arc swing
Very nice and I agree. Very smooth. Koken is a ratchet that I have been wanting to get as well.
Smoother than snapon 🎯
I would love to try out the new milwaukee ratchets. I'm gonna wait until they come out with a soft gripped handle ratchet. I have completely switched my line up to the soft handles. Probably never go back.
Thanks for the great review.
Very nice. Thank you. Glad you enjoyed
Tony, thanks for the review! There are not many reviews on the new Milwaukee ratchets. I would love to get your feedback on the new Gearwrench 120xp locking flex heads. They use the button instead of the lever. There are not many non-tool truck locking flex heads out there!
I agree not many of them available outside of Tool truck brands but the gw one will most likely be my next ratchet purchase
That is a little on the high side for sure on pricing. Getting into the made in America pricing for a not made in America tool. Back close to 15 yrs ago I think I paid that for my Snap-On standard length 3/8" comfort grip.
Hello again, Tony
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 You might make me change my mind about my ratchet collection lol. I went with the Harbor Freight Roto Head ratchets. Which have been good for me. I just didn't have enough info on the locking ratchets to make a purchase decision. Lol, I think I 'll keep what I have for now and keep my eye's on look out.😊 Again thank
Thank you. Hey as long as they work for you thats what matters but ya if you ever need to replace one. This ratchet seems very well built and very versatile. I think you would enjoy it
@@TonyTheTechnician Hello again, Tony
Well said, I just don't know how much they could handle torque wise? The limited use I have put them in. They have done good. I may have even convinced others Mechanic's to give them a shot 🤔 I look forward to hearing and seeing more content from you 😀 Take care for now
Just begging for me to convert it to a 3/8 lol
Try the craftsman v series 1/4 inch long flex head. Not locking but nice and stiff. I love mine.
I have never been interested in a quarter inch drive flex locking head long-handled ratchet!
I have no need for a long-handled flexible locking headed quarter inch drive ratchet!
Then I watch your video
Now I want one.
Could come in handy.
You never know when I will need it
I have to get one!
Thanks Tony😠
I laughed so hard at this. By the second sentence I already knew where you were going 🤣👍 if you do decide to get one let me know your thoughts. I like them for interior work and small fasteners around the firewall and around headlights. I think you would be impressed by it.
They are very handy. I’ve got a snap on one that is even longer
Nice review, Tony - I'm thinking about getting a Milwaukee ratchet just because I can't stop buying ratchets ;-) I'd agree about Milwaukee hand tools tending to be overpriced, but I picked up a full set of their metric combo wrenches and a smaller set of the MaxBite ratchet wrenches on very good deals, and I've really enjoyed using them, so it's always worth looking out for bargains.
Thank you and absolutely agree 👍
I’d compare that ratchet to the Gearwrench locking flex head ratchet. I have the new push button lock version and it’s very nice and comfortable grip. Good review Tony.
Very nice. And that's the next ratchet I plan on getting!! Glad to hear you like it
I got the set of three Craftsman flex head ratchets. CMMT86506V. Haven’t used the 1/2 much but the 3/8 and 1/4 can take quite the beating. Been using them for a while and they’re awesome. Along with their sweet lifetime warranty with no questions asked, I find it a no brainer. 1/4 still has it limits for being so thin, but when you need more force, you can most likely fit the 3/8 in there anyway. It’ll flex but nothing has bent yet nor do I see the flex head separating. Ratchets just a good still.
I have a few 1/4 flex head ratchets, snap on, Gearwrench, capri and the Capri is the best.
Milwaukee makes a quality ratchet. I have a couple, but I may “need” to add this one to the collection. I am weak when it comes to “tool purchasing resistance.” 😬
Haha ya I know what you mean 👍
I've always thought the philosophy on the flats on Milwaukee ratchets handles are wrong. The flats should be facing the direction of force being applied to spread out the force. The way they have it, it actually concentrate the force more than round handle. It may not matter on 1/4 drive, but if you move up the size.
Yeah they have it backwards lol. Other than that it looks nice.
Milwaukee going after Snap-on 😂😂 get Big Red, even tho I’m a Dewalt guy I love Milwaukee Ratchet’s and sockets
Is the XL handle useful on 1/4 in ?
Depends on the type of work you do. I like them for interior work, firewall fasteners, around headlights. It's still very compact being a 1/4 yet you still have reach for fasteners in weird spots
Tekton or Gearwrench 90t gear the same size if you need to swap?
I'm not sure. I'll disassemble them and see
The only thing i dont like about mine is the chrome dosent hold up well
Rather have a snap ring over screws that can back out. I'm sure they will make one of those later.
Well, put a 1/4" head of your choice on the 13" Icon 3/8 breaker bar, and you'd have an interesting tool. 😉
Thanks.
Personally im a big milwaukee fan, used to have a lot of craftsman stuff but not any more
After I bought Milwaukee socket set , a occasionally grab a craftsman here and there now
I think Milwaukee is a little to price happy with their wrenches and ratchets etc. However, 59 bucks is not too bad.
Agreed 👍
Milwaukee are nice but to heavy. And Gearwrench XP120 locking ratchets can't be beat! What's with Milwaukee and these other brands that got all these little switches that are bothersome on their locking flex ratchets. Mr favorite and perfect weight and grip ratchets are the Gearwrench standard 90T 3/8 comfort grip. Perfect!
After a month how has the new Milwaukee 1/4 Dr Locking Flex Head Ratchet held up? Have you been thinking of converting to Milwaukee ratchet vs your current Tekton and Grearwrench?
I really enjoy it. It's been great but no it's not worth switching over all my ratchets
I have the 3/8 and its heavy!
I like the Milwaukee hand ratchets, but I do agree they are a little overpriced. I have to say I enjoy the new Gearwrench 120xp locking flex head ratchets with the comfort grip more than the Milwaukee. The 81055 1/4 is 9” in length and the head is super slim, compared to the other Gearwrench ratchet heads.
That's the next ratchet I was looking at picking up as well
Yep. I love me some gearwrench!
I love everything about that ratchet except the soft grip being so small n skinny. I have big, bad hands. Really bad carpal tunnel and arthritis so I switched the handle to Snap On green screwdriver hard handle. Did that to my 2 Tekton long flexhead ratchets 3/8" + 1/2"
I would grab a proto p90 for $20-30 more
Or a new gearwrench 120xp in a more similar price point
Same mechanism as dewalt
