You know, when you first started doing unboxings more regularly I was disappointed that you weren't doing more reviews. dear thew love your show makes me jump for joy when seeing show makes me very me happy my collection was destroyed in a flood and having a hard time getting them back so seeing some of the g1 toy i nowned makes me happy keep up the good work
Vual is awesome, I own one. Wish it had more parts to do all the alternate parts stuff it shows in the art frames and because of all the extra parts in it.
The only thing better than Ape Face is the recolor of him that came with Japanese Weird Wolf, AKA Rarigo. Largely because its color scheme is an accidental (or maybe not?) homage to BOT. I got the Galaxy Upgrade Optimus and it is indeed a hot mess, but I love it. It's an awesome super robot with a pretty naff but well-meaning vehicle mode, and you can swap the armor between him and Ultra Magnus if you want. What I'd give for a PROPER Power Master Optimus using this mold, though. 14:58 - Hey! We found Wesley Snipes!
Hey Thew, I HIGHLY suggest for that Vual you strengthen the joints. That kit was made late into the Iron Blooded Orphans lifetime and the inner frame has become very very loose, so the thing is a ticking time bomb made of plastic. I own one myself and it can't even hold it's weapons properly without joint strengthening.
Thanks for that, Thew. I tend to feel the same way when people get pretentious about Gundam. In fact, if it weren't for the model kits, the franchise would have never been the juggernaut it is today and Gundam would have probably been remembered as "That weird robot anime that didn't take off 40 years ago".
the vual is pretty much an astaroth variant but isnt actually astaroth since in the side story its the gundam frame using some of the astaroth spare armor. but still looks bad ass in those colors.
I know the very Wheeljack to which you refer. It sits on my shelf next to the Ravage from the same series (yes, both Argos purchases) and I do not think they will ever be transformed again so long as I live.
Go. Watch. Iron blooded orphans. It's the Red headed stepchild that grew up to be Jessica Rabbit of the Gundam Franchise. (It was my secondary, but MAIN introduction to Gundam as a whole so I will defend it as I've described it.)
I adore the Alternators. Love complex transformations that take 15 minutes, and both the robot and the car look stunning imo! But if you are into simpler and chunkier robots, I get it. Those car models though... Especially Shockblast, what a beaut! What does Thew think about Alternity I wonder? Would love to see some Alternity reviews!
@@primeguy9855 Alternators were kind of from the era where the designers were trying to figure out what "adult collectors" liked. They knew they liked complicated transformations, but they didn't really understand the difference between "involved and interesting" and "there are ten million bits and half of them pop off and there's zero clearance and you have to do it all in perfect order." Some Alternators aged better than others in that regard, but the Mustang mold was always pretty disliked. Those arms, man. I saw instructional videos for just the arms.
ugh. i was looking at that gundam online today, when i got my first ever kit that was in the store too, and im kickin myself for getting the one i got instead. i got gundam ageII magnum SV, and its cool, but that one there sure looks a million times better imo
Avengers Endgame Hrm.... Half of everyone died from a magical doohickey that can do LITERALLY ANYTHING, so I just found myself asking "Why can't they just use that same magical doohickey to hit the reset button?" I had no sense of drama watching it. I can't remember feeling so little when so much was at stake. And literally EVERY time-travel story has to deal with the protagonists not f***ing up the spacetime continuum, but in this franchise, everyone's free to do what they want all willie-nillie? What IS that? Oh dear. NO LOVE for Alternator Wheeljack? Review, Thew! 9:16 - Aww, look at that face... That little guy has no idea what a football is, he's just happy to be on the team. Ah, the original Chinese DVD release of G1... I've still got MY tin! lol If only we knew that Hasbro was gonna release the series only a few years later, AND with special features to boot. Oy... "Badly made, cheesy trash for children?" Here's the thing, though; whatever 'badness' is present in the G1 cartoon can kinda be forgiven if you take into account that this was the very FIRST of anything TF-related. Budgetary constraints, no series bible (did they even HAVE those back in the 80s?), writers of the day didn't really understand robots/computers and how to write for them, etc. When people say "This is what Transformers SHOULD be like (wheyyy)", what they REALLY mean is "G1 had the seed of something amazing, and we need to nurture and build upon it". Sort of like what they did with Beast Wars, or like how Transformers Prime took the battered and abused seed of the movies, sent it to rehab, gave it some education, and became what THEY should've been. lol
I haven't had the chance to watch it so I'll take this as a "Avoid it and the sequals like the plague because there are better Gundam stories" but yeah Seed had good designs but for me it was Wing that had some of the best along side Fighter G, which had some stereo typical designs, but I loved them.
Is Alternators Wheeljack reaaally that bad? I've never handled one or even seen reviews on it, but I want it because I love Wheeljack and it does look really cool.

Congrats for Landfill! It's an awesome combiner and probably the best combiner in this RID series!
I did a review of energon snowcat awhile back. Such a fun figure
The Siege Galaxy Optimus is actually great! Only problem I have is mine is missing the left shoulder pad >:[
I'm thinking of saying "fuck it" and buying another one online just to steal the shoulder pad and giving it to a toy donation thing Wal-Mart is doing
