I Am Legend FILMING LOCATIONS Then and Now

- In this video you will see the actual areas used for the Will Smith movie. I was able to find four unlisted locations but only recorded footage of two of them.
Used:
The Gas Station (Now Gone) - Pike St & Broadway
The Hive (Secondary Exterior) - 513/515 26th Street
Unused:
The Apartment - City Sweep (Exterior) - Beach St & Greenwich St
Robert & Sam walking down the street - 109 Mercer St
You will also see:
Grand Central Terminal, from multiple angles.
The Brooklyn Bridge at South St & Dover St.
The Intrepid Aircraft Carrier Museum.
Washington Square Park.
The Neville Residence - 11 Washington Square N
Soul Cycle (Formerly Tower Video) - 20 E 4th St
The Hive (Primary Exterior) - 10th Ave & 14th St
And more..
All Zombie or Zombie-like movies have their metaphors. What I take away from this story is pretty simple. The virus represents evil and those infected by it can only exist in darkness, hence Dark Seekers. Dr. Neville is on one man mission to cure it. Though very difficult, he ultimately succeeds. That's basically it. My basis is further reinforced by the multiple Bob Marley references that occur throughout the film. I don't like to read too much into it because you can end up defeating the purpose of the intended entertainment. As you watch the moral of the story will become clear. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

Awesome explanation, thanks for making this video. I was in NYC when they were filming the movie. Me and my friend drove our group with two 14 passenger vans and parked near our hotel where they were filming the movie. Our group was unloading the luggage and equipment when one of their crew members yelled at us to move the vans. So I missed the one/two second scene where the stunt driver drives the red car from the side street to the Main Street.
Their crew put fake grass at the wheels of the vehicles, they put stickers on the windows and cars to make it look foggy, dusty, or dirty. This was the second week of April back in 2007.

Nick P this video right here is a prime example of the quality of your work. I can tell that you spent a lot of time putting this filming location video together. I love your narration and how you go into detail describing all the details of each location you visit. Plus you ad in some humor for good measure. Figuring out where these scenes were filmed is not easy. Especially in a city as big as New York and a movie that is as intense as "I Am Legend" was. Nick P your videos are absolutely fascinating. That is because YOU are a fascinating man.
This video deserves way more credit/views/likes I loved it, I love I am legend and I hope to one day visit these locations, as I am from the uk, 10/10 video.

I lved in 4 Parkave. When they shot the opening Mustang scene they told everyone to get out of the street and go in any building they can. Then anyone who was in the shot they erased on film.Was working in buling on 42 street next to Grand Central. Saw them film scene when Will was shooting in the air when he found Fred outside.

I mean if you watch the movie and you see like how nature takes over New York City is actually really nice I’m not gonna lie because you see how quiet New York is honestly it’s very beautiful
The coolest thing for me to that was when NYC was shutdown last year. Quiet and empty. It was kinda eerie making my deliveries during that time.

It’s been way too long since I’ve been there. I really need and want to get back again in the near future. I was at Columbia’s football stadium in Inwood (upper west side, it’s not on the main campus) a few years ago but didn’t have time to drop down into NYC and see what I wanted to see. Hopefully soon. Keep up the great work and I’m already looking forward to your next video.

it hard to watch this movie because it give me flashbacks back to hurricane katrina ....i'm hurricane katrina survivor
I always seem to have something to say when you show NYC locations. The first of this video belt you showed the Interpet, the purple structure that's has the FDR on top of it, is where MIB 3 was being filmed and Will Smith was there though I only saw him from a distance but I did talk to a MIB agent and a guy who does security and he was telling me his next gig was a Batman movie and I think it was the Dark Knight Rises movie.
Edit: around 10:23, I see you talked about that area again.
