Cressida Cowper was unfortunately turned to a Bridgerton equivalent of Meg Griffin from Family Guy. A good villain needs some wins and a realistic villain some wins and a slightly discontetious retirement (she's barely happy but because of the cost of getting there).
I also felt the same way about Cressida with regards to her stricking up a match with a guy in all 3 Season's yet someone Brigerton or Neighbor/Friend of the Brigerton's steer them away from her. Daphne took away the Prince's attention only to end up with the Duke instead. Portia took away Cousin Jack's Attention via Scandal including Prudence only for him to prefer Portia then was forced to flee to avoid the people he robbed. (Dodged a Bullet) Penelope took away Debling who seemed like the best Match for her given how they feel like outsiders among the rest in the Ton and amongst their own families. Only for Penelope to end up with Colin. All possible match's who in the end weren't even the one's these women ended up choosing in the end. She was dealt the short stick when it came to the Men she chose to pursue 😅 She's mean but I do feel sorry for her. She tried her best yet sadly it wasn't enough.
yeah i dont think she deserved it but if she had married the prince, cousin jack, debling or a random decent and uneventful guy like the otherfeatherington sisters then we wouldnt have anything to talk about rn. Her continued misery is for our entertainment. I was going to be so mad if she was forced to marry that old creepy guy but i would have also been upset if she married debling and went off scene to live uneventfully. I think that going off with her aunt at least provides some sort of oppurtunity for her to come back into the story but im not gonna bet on Netflix.
@moyosept2004 True she remains a topic of conversation for this reason 🤣 Not to mention the pressure coming from her family to choose a man herself or be forced to marry whomever her father chooses. Maybe Season 4 will be about how she's changed since going to her aunts and maybe finding someone, not of her station but lower making it both a scandalous relationship and even more entertaining to talk about since its a difference in class something frowned upon given how Kate and Edwina's Mother was talked about when she arrived but really nothing serious or malicious happened except being talked about by the older women 😃

I love your glasses! This pair particularly but you have a lot of different pairs and they are all so great. The colours and shapes are so chic. Your perspectives on the characters in bridgerton are always so interesting and nuanced.
It´s so funny listening to this bc I occassionally watch the Bridgerton of y TH-camr named "LadyJenevia" who actually DESPISES Cressida and that "attempted" arc for the "white bully mean girl" (she also despises the Featheringtons and hates that Pen forgave them). I am torn with this. On one side I kinda like this arc (although it could´ve been better sometimes) and I understand why it was included. SHe´s the main villain of this season (where Pen is the female protagonist) and since she´s far longer around then for example Simons father or the Sheffield grandparents (who were just thrown in and maybe had 5 minutes screentime) it makes sense that she therefore is more important and explaining WHY she is even the villain and how she became one could be interesting and isn´t neccesarily bad. But at the same time if too much focus and sympathy is put on her it can come off as excusing instead of explaining her behaviour and portraying her as one of the poor victims when she´s supposed to be the nemesis of our protagonist who we are supposed to root for. Same with the the Featherington family: of course there is much focus on them (even in earlier seasons) since they´re the family of one of our main protagonists AND Whistledown who is a driving force and big part in/of this show. And I really liked the arc, it was beautiful and touching. But I understand people wanting Pen to cut ties with them bc that´s what you shoud do with toxic people in your life, including family. I at least hope that Sophie in season 4 won´t forgive her family
I don't hate that Pen forgave her family; I hate how fast it happened. Like at the beginning of the season her sisters were literally hoping and making fun of her for the fact that she would have to live as a spinster with their mother forever. They didnt care for her happiness and they knew that they didnt want that kind of life for themselves. Then for most of the season they were too busy fighting each other to pay any attention to her and refuse to be happy for her when she might actually be able to escape single life with their mother. But now that they got to have a party and pen can provide for them everyone is friendly. At least i felt that portia was remorseful for looking down on pen. Her sisters just did a full 180 for no real reason. Or if someone could explain their relationship in a way that makes the situation make sense please do.
@@moyosept2004 another reason why I think it would’ve been better if season 3 would’ve been Benophie and Polin season 4. if they would’ve had one more season (and off screen a time jump between season 3 and 4) then maybe the development and arc of them Featherington family could’ve been better and slightly more realistic
Ok but if we’re asking “did they get what they deserved?” we also NEED to talk about Marina! I think we’re supposed to feel like she got what was coming to her by trying to seduce, deceive, and baby-trap Collin but she’s another one who, like Cressida, was doing what she had to to survive in a harsh misogynistic society and is unapologetic about that. I’m the lone Marina stan yelling #SheDeservedBetter #JusticeforMarina
Ok but here’s the thing: if 1. the punishments were consistent character to character (ie, if the main characters were punished the same as the side characters we’re supposed to not root for as much) AND 2. The show runners were consistently loud and proud about their The Status Quo Is Good Actually idea, then I’d say “yes” to the question at the heart of the video. But since at least one of those points (and more often, both of them) aren’t true in the diegesis of the story! The answer is a resounding no!

I think cressida's situation is interesting to watch bc this is not going to happen to any of the other female leads so this is the only time we will get to see such a hard failure in the marriage department. We know for sure that all of the bridgertons and penelope were gonna get a happy ending so this feels more open ended and therefore more interesting(i didnt read the books so I dont know what was supposed to happen to Cressida). And im under the assumption that cressida's story isn't over forever but i know better than to trust Netflix
Chamomile. Thankfully it did help ease me into a semblance of sleep once I was done uploading the video. Honestly my expectations for the writers is ZERO!!! 😭😭😭. But a part of me does hope that they continue Cressida’s story so we see what happens with her in the new season 😭
