Wonderful video! I had played this game as a 7-8 year old child at my school's computer lab... and was engrossed, always running to the room to snag the floppy before anyone else could get it. (Although Maniac Mansion was the most sought-after game in the lab at the time.) But I could never remember the name! This is probably the first game I've ever played, and what started it all. Amazing. 5/5, of course.
Wow! Amazing, including the interview. We were emailing with Jeff but I didn't know you were actually going to interview him for your Matt Chat. Now that is a very nice surprise! Just had to made a video response. I've also 'responded' my Mark Plays... Sword of Fargoal Vic20 :P
Excellent as always Matt! I wish I could give you more than 5 stars, cause you always go beyond to make these. Specially great job getting mr McCord to talk about it in the vid! I wasnt even around when this was first released, and have sadly missed its newer forms. However, I feel like in going to have to try and play this as soon as possible!
This was a great interview Matt! I really enjoyed listening Jeff McCord discuss his game and how the basic gameplay mechinics have been maintained even though it has been ported to some of the new technology of today!
Thanks for the nice video Matt! I cannot believe it took me 6 years to discover your channel and incidentally this game. I did not have a computer at home until the mid 80s and it was neither a Commodore nor an Apple so I never got my hands on Sword of Fargoal. I will be happy to give a try to the iPhone (and now iPad) versions though. Also, I must acknowledge your parting words of wisdom. Truer words have never been said. Thanks for this great channel!
Thanks for the video. I recently got the game on my iPad and it is a very enjoyable game. It is great to get to hear from the original game designer and to learn how the game came into creation.
rowdyrob3d really said it best. It says something when the gameplay is intact here in 2009. I wish I had my C64 back to play this game! (need to get one on Ebay). Thanks for the episode Matt!
There is a demand, good Sir. Consider it like Lucas and Star Wars. Perhaps the fans should NOT get what they want. That said, I'm a big fan of eps 2 & 3. BTW it's great to see this show gowing in viewership. Utterly deserving.
So this is where your gamedev-interviewing career on TH-cam began 😀 10 years after and still interesting. Thank you for this great job!
What a swell comment. Thanks!

Great video, I'm so glad Jeff McCord was able to come on and answer the questions, nice touch.
Awesome man! Great to get teh actual author to talk on the show!
Once again another great video. I cant stress enough how much I enjoy watching your videos.

Great closing thought too ;)
Excellent! Part II with your narration on mechanics etc? Sorry, I'm just being greedy now.
Another game I now want to play :-)
Damn I love these old games.

Matt, this was excellent!!
Great stuff once again
And yes i'm with you there when you mention at the end - they're like novels in that we all have at least one in us
One day
aah I get it now. must have still been uploading...
hey i actually bought it already. ;) definitely a well done conversion! love the atmospheric music and how the random mazes unfold.
Great video, I had never heard of this game but had seen it in the app store, picked it up for my ipad and am loving it!
Exploring areas and monsters behind corners is all that any video games needs to be good.

Great video ... as usual! Now pondering if I should get the game for the iPhone! Only downside is that the graphics look too shiny. ;)
