@@Mugdorna They were great tanks. Unfortunately 2 little 2 late. While both Russians and Americans were going for numbers, Germans went with quality and got zerg rushed. This is a solid top 5! Very respectable choices. It would be too difficult for me to choose as there are so many tanks with prominent history. Despite being soviet the T-34-85 has one of the most fascinating backgrounds. While being affordable, easy to produce, fast/maneuverable, and effective the tank was designed by an amusement park engineer! Humble origins but very fearsome in action. Keep it up Sofi! We all feel better knowing you're truly a tank fanatic lol.
"really scary" Indeed, my wife's father was a Croc commander towards the end of the war, and demoralised German troops, often young, undernourished and hardly trained would surrender or run at the knowledge of the presence of the nightmare combo of Croc and Petard wielding AVRE. Story is that a captured German officer was outraged by this tank that he declared was "inhumane and un-British". It is difficult to equate the kindly grandfather to my children I knew with a soldier who was prepared to use such a terrible weapon.
Seems to me based on what Sofi said, that the Crocodile was more humane than many of the tactics used by the Nazis against unarmed civilians and POWs. The operators of the Crocodule at least gave fair warning to surrender and receive good treatment in ally POW camps.
Sofi you did a great job, the way you presented your top 5 tanks in the best possible way. Indeed Panzer 4 was very underrated tank of WW2 and definitely deserves to be on the top spot.
5 - Churchill Crocodile 4 - Sherman Firefly at 2:15 mark 3 - Stridsvagen 103 at 3:25 mark 2 - M103A2 at 5:25 mark 1 - PzKpfw IV at 8:05 mark Sofilein was double parked in two handicapped spaces.
about #2 M103 A2, it is true that the shape of the hull did provide better ballistic protection, however it is also well known that cast armor provides less protection than a flat plate of Rolled homogeneous armor (Rha) with the same thickness and at the same angle, that is why soon after that they realized it was easier to increase the protection of the T95 and M60 by increasing the armor angle but the M103 was a good "test subject", just like with the M48 it provided the US Army with the experience of designing and producing a tank that was nearly obsolete as soon as it left the factory

Your favorite is mine as well. The Panzer lV was mobile, flexible. Built in huge numbers, and actually loved by German tankers. Plus it looks great with the side skirts.

Finally, someone is showing and talking about the Panzer IV and the M60. Your the best Sofilien!
Sofilein's enthusiasm and energy is captivating.
@E. R. There are a million pretty girls in this world, but I suspect few are as interesting or fun to hang out with.
Steve Miller Don’t scratch, rub.
"really scary"
Indeed, my wife's father was a Croc commander towards the end of the war, and demoralised German troops, often young, undernourished and hardly trained would surrender or run at the knowledge of the presence of the nightmare combo of Croc and Petard wielding AVRE.
Lovely young woman and a rare gem. She likes tanks!
I’m pretty sure she used to be a guy.
@@TheTrueNorth11 I disagree.
I don't care how fast she talks. She is very good with all the details of these tanks. Good job.
She's so darn adorable!
5 - Churchill Crocodile
4 - Sherman Firefly at 2:15 mark
3 - Stridsvagen 103 at 3:25 mark
2 - M103A2 at 5:25 mark
1 - PzKpfw IV at 8:05 mark
Sofilein was double parked in two handicapped spaces.
*Stridsvagn
She's so fine. And the tanks aren't bad either.
@chris younts you wish XD
She's so enthusiastic and rapid fire - a great presenter. Keep up the awesome work, guys 👍🏻
Great job Sofilein
you finally did it !
Cheers for Sofi :)
Edit: great to see Lindy finaly left the strv alone for others to choose :D
It’s confirmed, Sofilein doesn’t need to breath, so she can talk endlessly
A small tank binge. Enjoyable presentation. Just dawned on me. Your tank enthusiasm is infectious, that's a good thing. Thank you. :)
Great passion, great vid.
I am 57 and have had an interest since I watched the tanks during the Vietnam war on tv in the late 60's
James may and mark Felton next
Yup, but for Mr. Felton he need his intro music. Imagine him just walk into grocery store and that intro starts playing
Now this is a brilliant idea
& Harry Metcalf from Harry's Garage TH-cam channel...🤔👍
Great top 5 and Happy New year Sophilein
Sofilein: aspiring tank historian and 8th level 1/2 Elf Ranger ;)
about #2 M103 A2, it is true that the shape of the hull did provide better ballistic protection, however it is also well known that cast armor provides less protection than a flat plate of Rolled homogeneous armor (Rha) with the same thickness and at the same angle, that is why soon after that they realized it was easier to increase the protection of the T95 and M60 by increasing the armor angle
but the M103 was a good "test subject", just like with the M48 it provided the US Army with the experience of designing and producing a tank that was nearly obsolete as soon as it left the factory
Only mistake I saw was her saying sloped armor saves space when it does the opposite, other than that great video.
Nice episode, thanks! Love that the Panzer IV was No1. My favourite too!
You know that pre-game lobby where one player has a female gamer tag and the lonely nerds start lusting and send her PMs? That's this comment section.
Still, a very good video and enthusiastic. Well done.
Love nothing better than listening to someone who knows their stuff with a passion. By the way I agree with her first 4 but I can understand her soft spot for number 1 if that was the one that first piqued her interest.
What a charming lady
Nice video Sofi. I enjoyed the neat facts you detailed about the tanks (such as the British flame tanks being named after reptiles, or how to identify the Sherman Firefly). I'll be sure to watch any new videos.
Fabulous 👍
Your favorite is mine as well. The Panzer lV was mobile, flexible. Built in huge numbers, and actually loved by German tankers. Plus it looks great with the side skirts.
Hottest historian ever, hands down.
There are some competition for that title tbh.
And I would refrain from comparing at all, as the act of comparing people, by default, is self dishonouring the comparator and objectifying those compared.
Lowest standards.
@Tolvis Presley Lol!!! A good historian though. Also, see Dr. Alice Roberts.
I feel I MUST mention Suzannah Lipscomb!
@@oxcart4172 Wow +1 on looks!
But -1 on being a remainer lol
The way you cover them is one thing, but I think the choices themselves will stand up well to everyone else's lists.
Good job!
