Nice reaction. I love when he implements more of his Eastern cultural sound in his music. Check out Dimash Know (vocalise) 2020 Arnau Tour in Kiev. Also Samaltau 2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival. I feel he brings out a lot of that eastern sound in these songs. Hope you like l, have a good one!!
The thing that particularly I like about this performance is not just the performance itself, bu the returns as a guest in the 2018 Singer, a year after he exploded on the international music scene in the 2017 Singer. In my opinion, he's returning and showing his appreciation to the show that launched his international career.

Dimash tenía ante sí un desafío muy importante; si su versión no era lo que se esperaba pues se devaluada pero es tan genial que la anterior quedó para museo; directamente hizo una versión oriental de la occidental "Hello" y todos quedan maravillados, especialmente con el melisma tan característico de oraciones del Islam que aquí, Dimash hace uso como recurso plenamente artístico y estético y el resultado dejó satisfechos a todos 😏

Watch Love is like a Dream with Igor Krutoy and Sinful Passion. Very few people realized how difficult it is to sing like that. Flamenco singer in Spain have that Arabic influence and sing something similar to that. I really enjoyed your reaction.

A very enjoyable reaction, as always. Dimash's rendition of Lionel Richie’s "Hello" was a guest performance on "I am a Singer 2018"; he was not competing that year. At the end of the second verse, Dimash sang "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "I love you" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you" in Mandarin at the end. Dimash beautifully incorporates Middle Eastern (Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, Azerbaijanian, Kazakh) runs in the song. His friend (Erlan Bekchurin) does many of his arrangements and also arranged this performance. This is my favorite rendition of the song; even better than the original in my humble opinion.

I think the sound you are referring to as Eastern or Arabic is referred to as Oriental, there are scales that give this "Oriental" feel to them, but the source of the sounds that make a song sound Oriental are actually quarter notes which are not used in any western scales. They use notes that are in the middle between a note and its half step (like a note lower than E but higher than Eb).
Dimash sang I love you three times. The first, in English. The second, in Mandarin. The last is in Kazakh.

Yeah, that wasn't "I love you" in english, at least a couple times. Looks like it was more or less the Mandarin equivalent at least once.
This Chinese show one year before launched his career. He went from unknown overnight to "needs bodyguards to go shopping" and when his album went out for online sales in China, it went platinum in less than a minute and triple platinum in something like an hour.
He has always been grateful for the help they gave him, so he learned to sing a really important song (Autumn Strong) in Mandarin during the show in 2017 to let them know his appreciation. Please realize that he only knew a handful of travel words in Mandarin at that time, so he learned the song phonetically. In a week.
Of course, phonetically for Mandarin also includes a number of tonal quavers to get the meanings of the words right - while singing notes! He sang the first verse of Confessa in Mandarin instead of the standard Italian. Coming back for this 2018 non-competition performance, he had learned enough Mandarin to give a proper thank you at the end of this song.
