Thanks for this, it helped me a lot. I skipped the supplementary charger - thought I’d lose presets, radio, mirror/seat settings, etc…but that’s all intact.

You can pull the original vent plug with a screw too - 1-2 turns and then pull it out.
A painful and curse filled battery change but this was a great help!!!!🎉🎉

Once again Gary, excellent video. I love your level of detail and knowing that you are doing all the jobs that I will need to do on my own 2014. If you did this battery replacement in 2023, that was at the 9 year mark since new. I am at 10 years (207,000km) with no battery symptoms yet. Did you do this proactively or did you have battery problems?

@@wackyp I replaced before it failed. The only symptom was a slightly slower crank speed. It was faster after the replacement. Thanks for your comments.

@@garysgarage2118 Can you use battery testers on the posts under the hood or are those only valid when connected directly to the battery?

Thank you Gary. I'll file this battery swap information away in case I have to change the battery in my Touareg. I recently purchased a set of triple square sockets just in case. One of the things i am most impressed with is how clean your carpet is. Any secrets that you would like to reveal ?

Thanks for your comments William. Carpet stays clean when you don’t use the car in the winter much. About one month a year and have good mats. Weather Tech.

I am in the process of buying the battery from NAPA as well and they list two batteries for the TOUREG. The one you used is the less expensive unit but it does not meet the AH rating and has less CCA so why didnt you select the larger battery wich is the same size as original?

My Napa store listed 5 different batteries for my car. All were guaranteed to fit. I got the second most expensive. It wasn't until I removed the old one that I noticed it was a little smaller. I decided to go with the one I purchased VS exchanging and paying more. Don't forget to ask for a big discount on the battery from Napa. There is big margins on batteries. The one I purchased has been working perfectly

At least for 2014 VR6, seat bolts are torqued to 50NM, both battery terminals to 6NM, the front battery bracket to 9NM and the rear battery bracket is 10NM

How’s the new battery holding up ?
Any issues with the computer settings

Battery is working perfectly. Because I maintained the power with the charger (power supply mode) the computer and radio etc did not loose memory. The only important is to replace battery in the car and enter the amp hours. That way the alternator strategy will match what the battery needs.

This was quite the ordeal. Any issues since the install with the new battery?

@@garysgarage2118 very helpful vid! I ended taking back that battery though. Got a Duralast that’s the same physical size as the OEM and beefier specs closer to the OEM as well. So far so good!

      Hello!
Can you help me with the part number of the protection of the bolt ( 3:33 min)? Mine is missing completely...
By the way, very useful your videos! Keep up the good job!
