Hard to believe but after only three weeks back in the USA, we have cleared and received two international import shipments and are already at the Reptile Super Show in Anaheim, CA. This is one of the biggest shows of the year for us on the West Coast so if you aren't able to make it out, this video is for you. So much diversity this time around but we are still standing tall with our tables of oddballs. Thanks for the video.🙏. Some interesting species on sale there, BUT, as an Ozzie, now resident in Thailand, I am absolutely blown away by the asking prices there in the US!! 💰
Yes me too, but remember, that doesn't mean people bought all that stuff. This particular show was packed with people and very busy but sales are down from what they were 1-2 years ago. A lot of those high ticket animals are transitioning to personal pets of those vendors.

OMG!! Some of those prices at the other booths!!! When I was keeping more animals back in the day, I was paying a 10th of these prices. But back then many of these animals weren't even available yet either.
I am going to discuss this in the next video. Here is what I am seeing...the pandemic was a boom time for reptile sales. Lots of new people jumped in when it was very good, and seasoned people also got spoiled. I am seeing many people that invested in high end reptiles that aren't selling. I am seeing new people that look a little lost because they aren't getting sales at the inflated prices they started with. Rare reptiles usually mean higher price tags but high end reptiles don't always mean rare. I am seeing a ton of reptiles that aren't rare but are considered "high end" and they aren't selling. Very interesting time to watch how all of these different people handle it.

People definitely are not spending much money this weekend. I think all those high end animals with the other vendors are going back with their owners.
@@DMExotics That must be a reflection of the economy/inflation and not the quality of the offerings, esp yours which are so uncommon to find in the market in such good health. also, probably too many cages at homes filled up with a gazillion ball and hog morphs.....I dont get it......
@@nfri5108 Usually we push off sales leading up to expo events but the last three weeks I took all comers and sold/shipped a ton. In hindsight, very happy I did that. We could easily do without any expos but it’s good to be seen and meet the new and familiar faces. Tomorrow back to shipping :)
@@DMExotics The first snake I bought was in 1966 from Ray Van Nostrand in the Bronx. I have been doing this for a long time. No commercial breeder/importer I would trust more than you now. Thanks for all you do!

Bet nobody at the show has the variety of animal's that you have..Glad to see all the different species of amazing animals at the show, and not 99% ball pythons!!!
Oh no, don't get it twisted, well over half of the vendors in that building are ball python breeders. It is just that I tell my wife not to film them because there is no need. It may look like a "ball python-less" expo but they are there in force, at every show, in every country.
Great video! Some beautiful Animals and a wonderful selection. There are a lot of amazing Animals around the show. As I always say about videos like this, I wish we had shows like this here in the UK. We used to, I remember going to a few back in the 1990s but they were stopped.

Dan I get so much conflicting info, are the Beaded Lizards legal in CA or not, or just in LA county or something?
Gilas are considered native to CA and require a permit which is nearly impossible to obtain. Beadeds are non-native and can own without a permit. LA county I have no idea but probably city ordinances and regulations are more of a concern than at the county level.
How much would a pair of each kind of skinks be.

Woah! You took some super cool species with you to the expo! I like in the uk and no one really takes stuff like that to expo’s. It’s all ball pythons, retics and corn snakes in ours unfortunately
They are here but we don’t film them…too redundant
I don’t think I’ll ever understand why Hermann’s tortoises are more expensive than sulcatas, when they’re clearly the better option
Dwarf tortoises are always more expensive than sulcatas because not a lot of people wish to have a massive giant in their backyard in 7+ years. So they’re cheaper in hopes people will be more enticed to buy them
simple fact of egg production. Sulcatas lay upwards of 60 eggs, and hermann's lay 1 to 9 eggs, more stock means cheaper price, unfortunately easier care doesn't always mean cheaper prices and vice versa
Did the baby melanota sell? If not where can I buy them?
Depends on waiting list people, some getting super flakey so just never know after the smoke clears.

I have waiting list people not clicking on messages because will indicate “read” as they try to get out of purchases I assume out of embarrassment. There is an element of people going “poof” into thin air so never know how things turn out.
@@DMExotics yeah people are flaky I’m down to pay upfront for a baby from the next clutch of eggs as well if they end up getting back to you about the ones you currently have
