It's about the relationship between what you think you should be and who you really are. Between the things you aspire to or projected in life and how things are or have become. It's much more than a love story. It's a film about who we are in the end and the choices that govern that.

This movie changed me, it's such a raw and amazing film. I find this song when I need to feel, I'm currently going through a break up and this song always ends up coming back on. I have a new person treating me so well now, but it's hard to lose 2 years. This is such a great loop, thank you for posting this, and actually using the full song, not just the first section. La La Land is a heart wrenching movie, and is also one of my most favorite. It's encapsulates so well the progression of Mia and Sebastian's relationship and growth. I came back to this song on a cold winter night on a front porch feeling exactly as Mia did in this film

I'm the only comment? Then I suppose I will tell my impression. I've never seen this movie and frankly I'm scared to, even though I know it celebrates love for what it is, even if it doesn't last. My lover is in France and I'm here. She loves me and I her, but our lives have taken us to different places. I know if I were able to find what I wanted to do in Paris, I would immediately see her. But it's not feasible now, therefore that future is purely hypothetical. Love cannot be realized in the purely hypothetical.
I love that your love story has a link to Paris. This song reminds me of Paris myself, even though the movie is set in Los Angeles. I highly recommend watching La La Land.
