Corn dish. Old country folks cut corn from the cob, fried it in bacon grease, and served it with different relishes on the side. You’ll just have to think out of the corn cob box to figure this one out.
I’m 70, Southern down to the ground, raised on corn cooked in bacon drippings. It doesn’t take a lot of grease. Maybe a teaspoon. You’ll know if you need to add more grease as you stir it around in the skillet..if it’s really dry add a little. I do cut up okra the same way..no breading. Corn cut from the cob makes great creamed corn.
@@marilyndougherty229 fried corn is sweet. I make Spicy fresh salsa for mine to offset the sweetness. A dash of hot sauce, jalapeños, tomatoes, green peppers, and onions. Any finely chopped up vegetables with tomatoes is good also.
As The Jersey Girl, how about this for the corn divided dishes…..one side for Jersey Tomatoes and the other side for Jersey Corn, white/yellow. To be enjoyed this time of Year! Hold the butter and salt😂😂😂
Yes, I'm at my office which is in a corner of a 15 story glass scraper in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. I dream of retirement and at the same time love my work and feel lucky, lucky, lucky. You are so fun to watch and I learn so much from you. I have a long lifetime love of scrounging around for treasure starting with my brazen grandmother who had no problem trespassing to look at and grab found objects in abandoned farmhouses along with her eternal love of auctions and second hand opportunities. It runs in my blood and I hope to do even more of it when I semi or totally retire in the future! Carry on, I'm living vicariously through your posts. Thanks.....I'm still digging through all of my books. I'm not surprised that the amber glasses are old Heisey molds.....such quality. I see the Heisey whirlpool pattern was actually manufactured by them from 1938 - 1957. I know that Imperial Glass bought the existing molds from Heisey in 1958 and did reissue some patterns. A lovely good morning full of sunshine and singing birds. I have that same corn on the cob set. Even though I don’t use it daily, I can’t part with it. Yeah Jersey corn.

I love hearing all the lovely birds chirping! The small corn dishes make me think butter and relish and the redberries might be radishes. A lovely set no matter what!
Spiders are good! They catch flies, the epitome of evil. 😉 I noticed how alert you are to neighborhood noise and sound-I can relate. It’s amazing how disturbing blowers are.
Your drink pitcher- when I see those depressions, they are usually thumbprints. Hazel Atlas made a ton of clear glass ball pitcher designs. Tilted with an ice lip. Improved design to address spilling that sweet tea glucose mixture. What would summer be without a sweet tea transfusion? LOL.
Maybe your “he” spider is a “she” spider & could be named Charlotte. 🐷 😊 On your split corn bowls the red “berry” looks like a radish to me, perhaps a corn/radish salad was all the rage. Love the green optic bowls.
Scott, I am retired. Took a trip to a local Salvation Army Store today. Quite honestly, your Goodwill stores look way better than ours in New England. 😍😍😍😍
I agree. I live in Connecticut and the Goodwill in Brookfield is very nice but I didn't see any depression glass. I did see cut glass vases but have no idea how old. I've got to get a book or two if I'm going to do this right.
I am retired and so enjoy all your videos. The light was just right for showing the glass. I love it all. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Flower jar Is stunning. The little corn side dishes were to put your corn in so it's not in your food on your plate. I think that's what they are for. Great set to actually use. I found the exact same aluminum top dish the other day. I love it. Great decor. Wish i could send pics to show you.
Love those candlesticks at 23:50! They and the console bowl would look great on a fall tablescape with a few of those fake plastic gourds scattered around. The ceramic lady at 16:50 looks like a disgruntled Veronica Lake with an up-do! LOL! What say you Scott?
Nice bunch of goodies Scott! I especially love the glass cookie jar that I would turn into, you guessed it, a fairy lamp 😁. I'm guessing the mini corn plates are to hold butter and salt? The red berry looks like a radish. P.S. don't kill that spider, it's bad luck to kill spiders ☺️👍
I retired at 56 after 33 years in hospital admin. I am a casual reseller to fuel my thrifting addiction. I love your videos. When I first turned your video there was no sound. I thought you were turning into Mrs. Kravitz, judging the neighbors. 😅
I was just “ooh” and “ahh” over each item (especially the amber glass) but the green mixing bowls. Chef’s kiss. I love glowy glass but it doesn’t have to glow for me to love GREEN GLASS! 🥰
Love that hammered aluminum set. My parents were married in1954. They got several pieces as wedding/shower gifts. Their tray is by Rodney Kent, and has the exact same handles. (rectangle tulip 408). I sort of collect it now, and all of my Rodney Kent pieces have those handles. Your set might be a marriage. The pieces I've got (and seen) with glass inserts era always just plain clear glass, usually on the thin side, nothing fancy. I like it though. Now I need to see if any of my bowls fit the one with the missing glass.😺.
Definitely Rodney Kent! It's what aluminum I collect also! I have one piece like this that is very similar, but with two sections. And one set that I need to find a bowl for!
The two green glass bowl, I have never seen either. I am in the Michigan area. Going to the library anyway, I will see what I can find out about them and the small divided corn dishes. They had plates with the corn motif and perhaps those smaller dishes could be a dessert dish, cake on one side ice cream on the other or strawberries on one side and wipe cream on the other?? Just guessing thou! 💞💞🙃💞💞
My favorites were the ball pitcher and the cookie jar. Had my early run to the Dutch market for poopy seed roll and a quick one through Aldi. Have a cool and relaxing day packing up the winnings.
Scott my favorite from this video is actually the back ground, my Dad had a similar set up ➖ the plant and the lamp, ours was a patio, not a porch😂. Thanks for sharring your finds😅
The lemonade glass, tidbit tray, and green glass mixing bowls are my favorite! I love the sounds of the birds chirping outside of your front porch. I enjoy watching and hearing the birds in my English garden in the backyard. 🐦 All the best, Scott.
Hey Scott..a long time ago when you saw a vintage stove in PA, I suggested you get a 1930's gas vintage stove to stay true to the vintage wonder of your home. Of course, the gas company would not install it for you for obvious reasons but a certified gas plumber could do it for you safely without "government interference ", vintage kitchen people do that all the time. Also, there are vintage electric stoves I have seen in antique salvage places that look just like the gas ones up on "legs". Love your channel, we moved from Balto. area down to Wilmington, NC area 5 years ago....been hot here lately but we do have the beaches (our shore areas!! LOL) Cheers, my friend!! "
I miss the penthouse! But, having said that, nothing can beat seeing you looking out the window, fussing about a spider (I only bash the ones that make webs in my house, those daddy long legged ones. The crawly ones I leave alone!), and hearing the birds outside, listening to your new homeowner commentaries! Leave the fan running, the sound is great! That early morning sunshine is always glorious before the heat of the day chases everyone into hiding.---That atypical green tidbit tray is a color that I refer to as 'fake' depression! I have a few pieces because for awhile, I collected anything green glass that was 'cheap'!

I have 60-plus pieces of the aluminum from the 40s, many are hanging in my kitchen . They are hand- hammered, so I feel like each is a piece of art.
On the little divided corn dishes - maybe corn relish on one side and chutney on the other??

That's a radish! And a head vase. And I the those goblets are great way to serve ice cream as a sundae or a root beer float.
OK, Scott when are you going to show us your kitchen?
Very soon!
