This is classic Jack Black. They used effects to lower his normal voice here and there but his singing voice is legit. Great Rock voice and the pick of destiny is one of their best works ever
Did they use effects? His vocal range reaches those low notes easily, heard him do it. Of course, in the studio there's always a bit of tricking. John Spiker who produced the song, is also the producer for the Tenacious D albums and probably knows Jack's voice very good.
I've always loved Jack's care free approach to his singing. To be honest I used to think he was annoying lol, but I didn't understand him as a person. Now that I've grown up with him I have a better understanding, he's just a big kid who doesn't care what anyone thinks and that's what makes him a great vocalist and person.
I thought it was genius they picked some of the most enthusiastic / high-energy actors to voice act for this movie... Jack Black is the Cherry and the Frosting though
Jack Blacks voice is really underrated. Even the little parts in school of rock. It's so fascinating. How he can do this while being sarcastic about it
It's precisely the sarcastic and flippant nature of his character and mindset that enables him to do all the amazing stuff! If he were too serious and tense about it, he wouldn't be free enough to explore and stumble into cool sounds!
Jack Black is totally not your typical Hollywood type. Short, overweight, over the top, but he is so authentic and doesn't seem to care what people think. He is so lovable and charismatic. I love Jack Black, what a cool dude.
I love the fact that they gave Jack Black specifically a song within the movie because in the context of the film it not only lends itself to further show us the passion that Bowser has for Princess Peach, but it gives Jack a chance to have even more fun being Bowser and considering Jack's past with music and the amount of experience he has that not only lends itself to the quality that this song has and is a testament to how skilled he is, but it also gives people who never listened to his music beforehand a look into how good he is at singing and gives people a chance to broaden their horizons
Out of all of the artists and bands that I sit and listen to and enjoy I'm entirely the most envious of the performances Jack Black is capable of, I've been working on improving my voice for not only singing, but I'm hoping to eventually get into voice acting and so Jack Black's voices and characters and passion is just really really inspiring
I finally found a Vocal coach that actually demonstrates what he tries to say instead letting us guess what they mean😅… Oh I’m definitely staying on this channel💪🏾
It’s like you can hear and feel Bowser’s conflicting emotions, soft side, rough around the edges, and at the end totally possessed by his love for Peach. I mean Jack nailed it! It’s simply iconic. You can hear the rock n roll and the just pure singing from his soul how much he loves her. I mean we never really seen this side of a villian before it’s amazing how Jack inspired this character to life.
+Saffeyah Perfect comment. Jack Black is CHANNELING Bowser while keeping Jack Black within Bowser at once. King Koopa is a monster, a literal turtle dragon beast. Reptilian through & through. Yet he loves this rare human who lives among mushroom people like no other. Bowser only kidnaps Princess Peach, he never kills her. He wants her to be his wife & eternal love. But the beauty will not have the beast & that makes Bowser crazy. So close yet so far & he wants her so bad it hurts. He becomes obsessed & the animal, the beast peeks through the tender side creating all of this complexity. Jack Black captured every bit of that reality & put it into his performance. You know Bowser Koopa's a monster but you STILL feel bad for him listening to him pour his heart out for Peach. It's all in how Jack Black delivered his vocals. I KNEW he was perfectly cast from day one.
But atleast an Oscar for that song. My favorite part in that movie. I had to go back and play it again and I almost died when I found out it was Jack Black in the end
It was Jack Blacks idea to have his song and he co-wrote this as well. It just heard its has now been nominated for an Oscar for Best Music/OST for a movie. Hahaha... Epic!!! I hope he performs it as the Oscars and wins! Imagine that!
Man, i'm actually shocked you've not done more Jack Black / Tenacious D. I had to go check because i didn't believe you. Would love more of his own stuff being looked at by you.

There's an excellent video going over the vocal range of Jack Black. It's actually stunning how capable he is, and effortless he makes singing it all. He's an absolute national treasure.
Jack Black is an insanely good singer often underestimated because of his tendency to play a lot with his voice so it sounds overdramatic and childish so people don't take him seriously. But anyone with some knowledge about the technical aspects of singing can hear how good he really is. I loved how you touched on the ability to modulate tones and getting good at making 1 tone in several different ways. This is a concept that is so true not only in singing but for instruments and music in general. These dynamic tools are essential to be a good storyteller, which is one of the most important aspects of being a great singer, technique aside.
As a kid I loved him and loved his voice and thought he was one of the coolest actors ever. But I also sometimes wished that he sung things that weren’t so humorous every now and then. Now though I although I would eat it up if he put out a serious rock album I wouldn’t want him to ever stop being that iconic comedy singer/ actor that he’s always been. He just doesn’t give a shit what people thinks he should be doing and that’s pretty much made him the legend he is today. I was surprised to see him act alongside Dwayne Johnson in Jumanji but it ended up being so perfect, and I wouldn’t have wanted that movie to play out any other way. I haven’t even seen this movie and as soon as I saw this I knew I had to get to theaters as soon as I can. I might have to call in sick to work if it comes down to it😂
His voice destabilizes, and it's powerful when it happens. I recently learned how much an effect of trying to walk that tightrope, and when it happens, there's simply something to it.

@@Fourger14 Nah, there are some very clear signs of some formant shifting on the vocals. There is nothing wrong with using effects to get the sound you want. Amazing track!
I’ll have to listen to your corse because I wanna get into singing and making music myself
I can sing but my singing is a little underdeveloped because in elementary school when we did quire I had massive stage fright so I hope to overcome that and start singing without a care in the world
"TOM WAITS" Is a huge part of the sauce. Pick of destiny he starts gushing about waits in the audio commentary.
Yeah he literally does this all the time. The whole peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches is a trademark singing pattern melody of his that you can find in his past works of music.
Jack blacks vocal range has always been underated the same way Kyle gas's guitar skills have been over the years
I love that you did this video
😂😂😂
Is it wierd that I can do the growl in head voice perfectly but I can not for the life of me do regular growls lol
Have you watched my videos with Will Ramos?
Jack Black has said previously that for every movie he takes part in he writes and performs a song. I wonder if this song was the specific contribution for this movie. Its got so much of his style and character in it. Just fantastic.
Graham Norton interview where he talks about it, and performs a small part of the song he wrote for Jumanji:
