If you read the newest edition of the study by Al-Jallad, he CLEARLY says he is going to "explore the circumstances that could have led to this curious example of shirk." This is him clearly stating polytheism existed in Arabia.
Not only that but he mentions in relation to the INSCRIPTIONS that "These are often followed by prayers to the GODS that are thematically connected with what precedes: authors going on a raid will make an invocation for spoil, those pasturing request security, others keeping watch for the rains may petition for precipitation." Again, polytheism.
Here is an example of polytheism, which is confirmed by the Qur'an by the way, that they worship others besides Allah:
"...and he kept watch for his family while camping near water so O ḥd and O Allāt may he be secure; and may he who would read (this writing) have spoil.’"
This research paper literally confirms what the Qur'an tells us.
The author concludes "ḥd" is most likely a local polytheistic diety from Palmyra, or less likely, an influence from Jewish Arabian communities.
The author also mentions an inscription where 5 different dieties are mentioned by one person... Polytheism again:
"O Allāt, grant retribution against Ḏkr son of Ẓlm, and again, O Lt, let there be retribution! And O BꜤlsmn and śꜤhqm and Dśr and the god of Tm and the Tyche of Ḍf and the Tyche of the nabataeans and the god fals, let there be retribution!"
This Christian man has no idea what he has read. Everything confirms what the Qur'an has told us, that the polytheists worshipped other deities besides Allah, and that Jewish tribes existed in Arabia.

@@skhan3855 You'll have to find it yourself brother: "Al-Jallad. 2021. The 'One' God in a Safaitic Inscription"
On a separate occasion he mentions that in Northern Hijaz there are three Gods being spoken about on inscriptions dated to the 4-5th century, therefore completely debunking any of these strange claims of a purely monotheistic Arabia in that time period.

First of all, you have to clarify or define what shirk or polytheism is? Because some muslims even today, they pray to God only (Allah) but they actually do shirks. So, in depth investigation is needed to understand the whole picture.

Abu Bakr said to her, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Our property will not be inherited, whatever we (i.e. prophets) leave is Sadaqa (to be used for charity)." Fatima, the daughter of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got angry and stopped speaking to Abu Bakr, and continued assuming that attitude till she died. Fatima remained alive for six months after the death of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . She used to ask Abu Bakr for her share from the property of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) which he left at Khaibar, and Fadak, and his property at Medina (devoted for charity). Abu Bakr refused to give her that property and said, "I will not leave anything Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to do, because I am afraid that if I left something from the Prophet's tradition, then I would go astray." (Later on) `Umar gave the Prophet's property (of Sadaqa) at Medina to `Ali and `Abbas, but he withheld the properties of Khaibar and Fadak in his custody and said, "These two properties are the Sadaqa which Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to use for his expenditures and urgent needs. Now their management is to be entrusted to the ruler." (Az-Zuhri said, "They have been managed in this way till today.")

Safaitic inscriptions confirm that there was no monotheism in Arabia, rather there was a large number of dieties to which many stones were erected and to which people at that time presented burnt offerings. A complete fail on Arun's part, yet again. Safaitic is a variety of the South Semitic scripts used by the Arabs in southern Syria and northern Jordan. there are still tens of thousands of inscriptions that need to be studied, and also the inscriptions tend to be predominantly either from the north or the south of the Arabian Peninsula, which tells us mainly what people in the north and south could have believed but not enough was discovered that conclusively confirm the argument that Arul is claiming.
I have seen a couple of lectures of Dr Ahmad Aljallad and Arul is totally misrepresenting the argument that Dr Ahmad Aljallad is putting forward.
Dr Ahmad Aljallad has documented stone Safaitic inscriptions predominantly in the northern part of the Arabian Peninsula from various centuries prior to Islam, and has shown that few centuries before the emergence of Prophet Mohammed there were inscriptions supplicating to various names of different gods but as the inscription approaches the emergence of Islam, more and more inscriptions shift towards supplicating exclusively to “Allah” as the supreme deity, but Arul is claiming that the findings of Dr Ahmad Aljallad challenge the “supposed” conventional narrative which Arul has distorted by claiming that the Muslim narrative says that Arabia before the advent of Islam was totally polytheistic and that only Islam introduced monotheism in Arabia that didn’t exist before which is not at all what the Muslim narrative says. So that’s the argument that Arul is claiming.
The traditional narrative does identify monotheism as being part of the religious landscape, and they are referred to as “ḥunafā”. Moreover, the traditional narrative also identify that “the mushrikoon” already believed Allah was the supreme deity that created everything.
The problem with Aruls argument is that Dr Ahmad Aljallad himself have used verses from the Quran itself that show how “the mushrikoon” who are usually referred to in English as “the polytheists” themselves refer to Allah, as the name of the supreme deity so, to my knowledge, “the mushrikoon” were not claiming that their idols were the supreme Creator of the heavens and earth, but rather their idols were intercessors and intermediaries to get closer to Allah, the supreme deity similar to what is still happening in Catholicism in using Mary and the Saints as intermediaries to get to God, despite Catholics not claiming that neither Many nor any of the Saints are the supreme Creator of the Universe himself, and even Jesus Christ himself is used to get to the father (which is a whole different discussion).
The same rationale is found in Hinduism as well, with Brahman being identified as the supreme Creator, while devotion is given to multiple entities taken as lords, which makes the findings of those stone inscriptions as evidence confirming what the Quran is saying anyway.
You can see that in Quran chapter 39 verse 3
Indeed, sincere devotion is due ˹only˺ to Allah. As for those who take other lords besides Him, ˹saying,˺ “We worship them only so they may bring us closer to Allah,” surely Allah will judge between all regarding what they differed about. Allah certainly does not guide whoever persists in lying and disbelief.
Also Quran chapter 39 verse 38
If you ask them ˹O Prophet˺ who created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say, “Allah!”
So we know “the mushrikoon” knew Allah was the Creator, so it wasn’t necessarily that they claimed that their idols were the Creator himself, But what they did was use intermediaries between them and Allah, the supreme deity, and claimed their devotion to those intermediaries gets them closer to Allah, the supreme deity.
I can literally see so many Quran verses to further demonstrate this point, but I think the reader gets what I am saying.
Arul appears to be too desperate to discredit Islam, that he straw manned the Muslim narrative and also straw manned the work of Dr Ahmad Aljallad himself.
Maybe Arul didn’t concern himself enough with digging deeper into the subject matter he is debating

Great conclusion, been observing Al Jallads work for a few years, it absolutely excites those that seek to prove islam as false, the commentaries on these lectures and ludicrous countless over arching conclusions implying , islam established in Jordan or, mohammed ( saw) didn't exist, now they salivate at the idea Islamic monotheism existed a century or 2 before mohammed (saw)

    • @mohammedahmad8039

@@adamaourara2942 But that is the explicit claim of Islam which is that the islamic monotheism existed since the time of the first man on earth, Adam PBUH and was distorted along the lines by people who came after only to be polished to its original form by the prophets of God (Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus…etc) while people who came after the death of those prophets distorted the truth of the message again so no Muslim ever claimed that this form of monotheism was exclusively “islamic” or was something that prophet Mohammed PBUH started but the very idea that you are describing that it was, is one way of how these charlatan missionaries try to confuse people. (And I believe they would be better off trying to be truthful and sincere with their approach to these matters)
I don’t concern myself much with the opinions expressed in the comments section under the videos of Dr Ahmad Aljallad, or any other scholar for that matter, and neither should you or anyone else do. It is more productive to spend the energy instead on understanding the arguments, analyzing the evidence which, ironically, once done, demonstrates that people like Arul, and other missionaries, and those posting the comments who you are referring to are straw manning what is being discussed anyway.
The way Arul presented the argument, he has distorted the issue by falsely framing both what Dr Ahmad Aljallad said and also what the Muslim narrative says, So let me try to unpack that for you, and please feel free to respond with your thoughts (and I apologize in advance if I repeat myself).
The first false framing is straw manning the Muslim narrative by claiming that the Muslim narrative says that Arabia before the advent of Islam was totally polytheistic and that it was only Islam that introduced monotheism in Arabia that didn’t exist before which is not at all what the Muslim narrative says nor is it what Muslims believe. So that’s the first misrepresentation of the facts that Arul is making in his argument.
The traditional narrative does identify monotheism as being part of the religious landscape, and they are referred to as “ḥunafā”. The historical narrative also identifies Judaism and Christianity as being part of the religious landscape but the real question is what do people mean when they use the word monotheism.
Because the confusion that Arul is inserting into the discussion comes from referring“the mushrikoon” who are usually referred to in English as “the polytheists” while implying that the definition of polytheism and the defense of monotheism are identical to the way we understand and classify polytheism and monotheism in the twenty first century. But, to my knowledge, this is totally unhistorical even according to western academic consensus.
If you listen to lectures by Dr Bart Ehrman, he himself makes that point about how people nowadays misunderstand how people understood divinity in early Christianity. In our current times, we tend to think of God as the Divine that is separated from the Mortal creation, which wasn’t the case in those days in early centuries CE who viewed divinity as a spectrum instead of two polar opposites. So peoples understanding of the Divine in those centuries was more fluid (which I believe Islam totally helped in challenging the old understanding and accelerating this current understanding of monotheism with its challenge to how people viewed the Divine in those days and helped crystallize our understanding of monotheism as we understand it today as a total and complete distinction between what is Divine and what is not Divine particularly when trinitarians to this day have a murky definition of what they consider Divine with their views on the relationship between the son and the father. You can add to this that based on my understanding of the lectures I regularly watch of scholars like Dr Bart Ehrman and James Tabor and other, I can see from their work that we can trace the Divine/Mortal fluidity not only in early Christianity but also in Judaism and the rest of the elements of the religious landscape in those early times in the first half of the first millennium)

    • @mohammedahmad8039
      @mohammedahmad8039 ปีที่แล้ว

@@adamaourara2942 Also Keep in mind, the traditional Muslim narrative also identify that “the mushrikoon” already believed Allah was the supreme deity that created everything (and its even referenced in the Quran itself) so it’s not surprising to find inscriptions supplicating to Allah like those that Dr Ahmad Aljallad described, especially when he himself made reference in those lectures to verses from the Quran itself that further enforce this point, so to my knowledge, “the mushrikoon” were not claiming that their idols were the supreme Creator of the heavens and earth, nor were they claiming their idols were coequal to the Creator of the heavens and earth like what a person could understand to be the case if this person applied our current impression of what we understanding to be polytheism, but rather “the mushrikoon” were claiming their idols were intercessors and intermediaries that only helped them to get closer to Allah (which Dr Ahmad Aljallad made reference to the position that Patricia Crone had which is that these old gods represented by those idols were reimagined as Angles and subordinate beings to God that received devotion from “the mushrikoon” and were intercessors and intermediaries that only helped them to get closer to Allah, which is consistent with what the Quran says anyway)
Interestingly enough, for me at least, is that the argument that Dr Ahmad Aljallad is putting forward, shows how the religious practice of “the mushrikoon” is similar to what is still happening in Catholicism in using Mary and the Saints as intermediaries to get to God, despite Catholics not claiming that neither Many nor any of the Saints are the supreme Creator of the Universe himself, and even Jesus Christ himself is worshipped to get to the father which Christians conclude from reading John 14:6 (which is a whole different discussion but it helps demonstrate this point further). But I am saying that this point is interesting, because some scholars (who tend to be either Christian or secular but funded by Christians) have made the claim that the Quran made a mistake in thinking Mary was part of the Trinity in Surah AlMaeda in the verse where Allah asks Jesus Christ
“"O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allāh?'" Jesus will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right.”
And the interesting part is that the argument that Dr Ahmad Aljallad is putting forward, addressed and responded to this claim by enforcing the Divine fluidity that existed in those days, despite his point not being a core argument that Dr Ahmad Aljallad is concerned with !!!
Because we know from the Quran that “the mushrikoon” knew Allah was the Creator, so it wasn’t necessarily that they claimed that their idols were the Creator himself, or necessarily part of the Creator in the form that Trinitarians proposed, but rather this divine fluidity is more expressed in a way that is similar to how Catholics don’t claim Mary or the Saints were the Creator himself or part of the Creator, But rather what “the mushrikoon” did was use their idols as intermediaries between them and Allah, and claimed their devotion to those intermediaries gets them closer to Allah, who, in their belief, was the supreme deity anyway.
So apply that logic to Catholicism and you get your clarification of the point I am making on what those missionaries claim about what the Quran is saying

What were the religious beliefs of Jahiliyyah Arabia?
Their culture was patriarchal, with rudimentary religious beliefs. Although there were some traces of monotheism in the "hanifs" figures, their religious beliefs were BASED MOSTLY on IDOL ADORATIONS and social congregations once a year around the Kaaba for trading and exchanges.
