    Went to my local Menards today to check out a few rolling stock items. They had a bunch of buildings on display plugged in and this one is pretty cool in person. The extra bit of wood that fell off on your unit, was actually installed sideways on the one at my Menards. Maybe they randomly assort them? Anyways, good to see new videos!

    I've never seen a detail model of the PRR Holmesburg Junction switch tower in any scale. Holmesbug Junction is part the Northeast Corridor and Amtrak still has a C&S based out of there. Of course it Amtrak sut operation in mid 90's an moved operations to 30th street staion prior to 9/11. Now all operation are performed in BEAR Delaware.

    Nice building. I do wish they would use "warm white" LED lights instead of the harsh blueish looking ones. You probably could paint over them with a light yellow wash to give it that old yellow incandescent light bulb look.

    When are you doing another steam locomotive review Eric?

  • @drgwnut
    @drgwnut 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a quick comment. The EARLIER Menards buildings took 300-400ma to run; the later ones (like the new FedEx) require more like 600-800 ma. So, ditch the "three on a tree" power packs. Also ditch the 1000ma and the 2000ma. Use only the 5000ma if you wish to run more than one building on a pack. Keep in mind that once you add wire to the pack - to get to where your building is placed - every 25' at 14ga loses about 1 volt. Some of the Menards buildings (especially the ones with animation) will flicker as they are starved for power. Ask me how I know this!

    Hi Eric! I just wanted to ask you something really quick. I am 13 years old and have been watching since I was about 7. I have recently stumbled upon some good fortune and my parents are letting me build my dream layout. I am higher skilled than you might think but definitely not as skilled as you. Anyway I just wanted to know if there was any tips or tricks that you could help a young modeler out with. Thank you so much and keep up the amazing work!

    • @Ericstrains
      @Ericstrains  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure. Read lots of modeling magazines, watch lots of modeling videos, and don't be afraid to make mistakes along the way. You'll learn as you go.

    A fork Lift, a few Lumber Trucks, and a pile of exterior lumber should be alongside the lumberyard. This is what a real lumberyard would look like. In many parts of the USA these traditional family owned lumberyards no longer exist. A Home Depot is not a lumberyard, its just a place that sells just enough lumber to prevent a family yard from surviving. The Rail siding should also be into the lumberyard

      Not a mom&pop lumberyard....i worked for them for 11 years
