Assassin doesn't get Strider's bonus damage while climbing, Helm Splitter, Downpour Volley and most importantly Fracture Dart so they don't really inherit their best skills.
Having played it recently again. Strider is definitely above Assassin. A top 3 class in the game for sure, no idea why it's in A-tier, like how is Mystic Knight higher?
I chose mage as my first, and didn't quit but I had rages, especially when I couldn't cast a spell when dozens of wolves jumping on me. But when I got into sorcerer and unlocked Maelstorm, the tables turned..
I played around with a bunch of the vocations and didn’t really care too much for them til I played Mage (this is early game btw) and was surprised how much I enjoyed the magic in this game. I’m usually a very anti-magic type player yet DD had me loving magic for once. Starting other vocations I’d make it to cassardis and didn’t like my character and start completely over with something else. When I tried mage I enjoyed climbing onto rocks, walls or whatever else I could to find a tactical and advantageous spot to throw out bits of damage, heals and some elemental enchants for my pawns to fight. Sitting back and occasionally jumping/floating around the map to another spot if things got dicey was oddly enjoyable as I never played in such a manner. I’ve always been a scream and rush the enemy type. I agree though that mage would be really hard on most players but I’d say it was B for Arisen (much higher on pawn)
S-tier DD content. Can't wait for DD2. Seems like it's going to be a much more popular game than the first, I hope your viewership explodes when it comes out. Either way, looking forward to more content from you.
Listen, if I want to play as a solo magic vocation, I pick mage, why? fast casting spells that do actually good damage in my opinion, I dont actually need more than that, since they are fast you can cast them before you are ever in danger, specially ingle which you can snipe the shit out of people with it using the alternate aim mode, in fact thats my favorite thing to do and I wish there were more "basic bitch projectile" magicks to snipe with, also you have literally everything you could need for ailments and healing, sure you can compensate with items, but thats kinda annoying for some people and not having to always do that is nice. I just wanted to defend mage because sure what I just said is a very niche way to play, but its doable, its fun (for me) and its pretty good, you can beat daimon with this shit
Yeah that's honestly fair, the reason the tiers don't reach D or lower is because even with Mage at the bottom I still think it's quite capable, I consider C mid-tier at worst, B mid-high tier, A high, ect.
Dayum, now I want to replay Dragon's Dogma. I finished the main campaign but I sort of get stuck in the DLC content and I want to replay and finish it properly.
I will surprise you: I started as a mage, first time playing this game, and I play on high difficulty because I am confident in my skills... I will admit, I had some struggles against bandits in the early game, but just after I reached level 10, I got a good team of pawns and... The game has become very easy. Despite playing in hard mode. Then I switched to magic archer class and.... I can see why some people say it's the best class in the game.
First time playing, I was excited to unlock the warrior, only to realize I get stunlocked when doing strong attacks. Not being able to even walk or change the direction I'm facing made it unplayable.
My boy another great video bro ^_^ btw my guy i would love two thing one you do a video like this but for Nero's devil brakers and 2 would be to get a red scarf with that back shirt you would look verry much like your profile pic and that's just something we all want

Is the song in the background from Threads of Fate? Kinda mad Warrior is in B, but maybe that's accurate, Ranger was more fun even after grinding with it just to make Warrior stronger
Excellent tier list! I would argue for a higher rating for just one class though. Strider! It's got the most even stat spread and the only class that gets points in EVERYTHING after 100. One of 3 classes that can solo any enemy in the game including: metal golems, magic knights and opening mimic boxes solo. The only class that can jump down any hight with impunity (helm-splitter). The only class that can utilize certain skips (soaring-stone + NPCs and/or Pawns). Has a built in increase to climbing speed and damage, which is arguably the most unique aspect of combat in DD. Top it off with access to double jump and roll and I would say, if every class has a weakness... what's strider's?
Entirely fair! Yeah I've mentioned elsewhere but if I was gonna change anything about the list it may well be Strider. As for the weakness, I'd more describe it purely as a """drawback""" which would be that, like any martial-focused vocation it can't achieve the same versatility in regards to magic nor focus magical damage quite like the sorcery-focused ones, but due to enchantments ect. this ends up hardly mattering overall. Strider also has less of a defensive focus than Fighter, MK, and even Assassin, but the natural evasion it's capable of obviously negates the need for that considerably. I suppose I probably could have worded this better by describing it as every vocation has their focus in a particular area, and thus will naturally focus less in certain departments.
@ThiefofCrystals Well put! I don't feel like you should change your opinion or the list. I like seeing what different people find valuable in classes and your videos are all very well done. Kudos on getting in front of the camera btw, you did great! Looking forward to the next one 🔥
Good list, i would swap strider and Mystic knight down though. MK has everything only on paper, but only when you prepare for things. If you had to play him without sitting in the UI for days, then he is not on the level of the rest of the S tier.
Yeah, played the game a couple months ago as the mage starting off on my first play through it did not go very well 😂, wanting to try it again though as I love RPG’s, so thank God, it wasn’t just a game, but it was just my vocation. The second game looks super sick so I definitely want to beat this one with new knowledge on how to pick a good class
I only included """official""" vocations but genuinely I think I'd actually put it in A tier for how the limited focus actually helps it in a lot of regards, and with dual knuckles you can absolutely tear things to shreds
excellent video my friend, glad to see you're nearly at 6k now goddamn also Have you heard of the critically acclaimed vocation Mystic Knight? With an unrivaled skill set which you can play with through the entirety of Dragon's Dogma and the award-winning Bitterblack Isle expansion up to level 200 for free and with no restrictions on damage.
Bruh, strider has better climbing damage without setup than what assassin can do with tons of setup. Assassin also doesnt have the best skills of either strider or fighter
I do play mage up until I can get sorcerer 😅 but that's cuz I really really love magic classes in games magic archer is my next fav like holy damn that vocation can be ridiculously op 😂
Always love to see dragons dogma content. I think for me I'd put strider, ranger, and MK in S. Fighter Assassin in A sorc and magic archer in B Mage and Warrior in C
Watched this until you got to Strider, realized you have zero idea what you're talking about, and then ended the video. Would suggest others do the same.
Bit unneccesarily rude, but by all means elaborate. Strider, as I've mentioned, is the one part I'd potentially reconsider. Even so I wouldn't think a single mis-step on one vocation should invalidate every point I've made.
@@ThiefofCrystals Strider and Assassin are two completely different roles, Assassin is no where near a "better strider." They have faster climbing speed, deal more mounted damage, reduced stamina on mount, on top of that, one of the best skills in the game, Brain Splitter is unavailable to Assassin. That skill alone can pretty much solo the entire game and help you leap from any distance with taking zero fall damage. They are also better pre-gear too due to the ability to steal level 2 weapons/armor prior to Daimon with Master Thief. Let's also not forget implicate that can pull dragons to the ground and one shot flying creatures flying over a cliff. Assassin is a meme that no one plays passed 100 because most just use it to gain maximum strength on level to min/max stats. Strider is the glass cannon of the game, while Assassin is closer to a tank class relying mostly on Full Moon Slash/Clairyo or Masterful Kill/Invisibility to tank things. Gouge does significantly less than a Strider mounted and even Gale Harness Thousand Kisses doesn't compare to Brain Splitter and takes up two skill slots just for some mounted damage. Strider is tied with Magick Archer for the most broken easy class in the game, While MA is good, against lightning resistant enemies they struggle pre-gear, which is why like I mentioned I stopped watching after your strider section because its clear you don't know what you're talking about. That's not even mentioning the fact that you put Fighter in A tier when there are encounters a Fighter alone literally cannot win. Metal golem for example.
@@theangler1922 Yeah, I literally said as much at 1:45, and listed all of the things you just listed. Seems someone wasn't paying attention before trying to assert superiority in a youtube comment section. Why in the world I would ever base a tier list on anything """pre-gear""" is baffling to me. Assassin certainly CAN be a tank class (which I would sooner recommend a shield for) but you're selling it terribly short by that definition and actively ignoring skills like Dire Gouge and Gale Harness. Actually, that's the ONLY encounter a Fighter can't win. The Metal Golem literally only NEEDS to be fought once, and even then it's for the sake of what is ultimately an optional quest, so no, I'm not really going to let that drag down an otherwise solid vocation. Anyway, it's very clear you're here for the sake of arguing and being unpleasant rather than actual debate. Calling Assassin a "meme" along with everything above tells me you don't actually have the understanding you think you do and are only taking such an aggressive stance because you simply don't agree with me.
