Linda, Happy Spring Forward Saturday Night/ Sunday Morning. “Spring Is In Swing.” A new birth a new beginning. Isn’t God Great. Now is time to start mowing and planting and fixing up our Spring Flower Beds. My county USDA office has been selling all sorts of trees. They had oak and pine different varieties. A huge selection of fruit trees and berry bushes and Sycamore trees, and Birch trees. A whole 8 X 12 piece of paper was full of trees and bushes that grow in our county. Their cost ranged from $ 2.00 to $ 12.00 (If I remember correctly was the most expensive.) I purchased the last of these. A pear, apricot, peach, and apple. I bought all the remaining Sycamore trees. They were about 10 tiny the seedlings. They were the runts of the bunch. I am going to line my driveway with them. My husband and I had always discussed about lining our 1/4 mile long dirt driveway with some trees or bushes. He passed away before this could occur. We had discussed using Crepe Myrtles. I think Sycamores would be awesome. I have always admired the bark of the Sycamores. Reminds me of the story and song in the Bible. Zaachaeus climbed the Sycamore tree in order the see Jesus as he passed through Jericho. Luke 19:4.
Hey Denise! I sooooo loved reading your words! We have just about 1/3 of an acre….we bought our house and property in the late 90’s. Whomever owned this little gem before us had a very, very talented green thumb. I’m so thankful for that…I inherited nothing of that nature. LOL. Anyhooooo, the edge of our property is lined with Rhodies all around the perimeter and we have so many varieties of trees…like (and I don’t know names, so you may get descriptions…😜) a red maple (that I always wanted to place a reading bench under, but have never got around to it 😜) one that I call a white snowball tree (although hubby since took that out….he said it was too hard to mow around cuz it wasn’t strategically placed well. I hated he took that out, but understood. He says he’ll get me a pink tree to replace it) a regular maple tree/bush thing…pine trees, Holly tree, couple of lilac bushes, blackberry bushes and so much more. We added some yummy apple trees (green apples…I love green apples (not a fan of red 😉) blueberry bushes, peach trees. I’ve always wanted one of those pink trees so hubby better get me one…lol….and wish we had a weeping willow. I loved those as a kid when we lived in the south for a while. I absolutely love seeing all the different varieties! It’s just a beautiful blessing. I think that’s why I love creating spring crafts…spring is new life! Gosh…I could just see your driveway lined with those beautiful Sycamore trees. I think it’s cool you were able to buy some of those different trees and bushes. It would be a beautiful thing if one day you could plant at least one Crepe Myrtle in your husbands memory, if possible. But if not, just seeing your driveway lined up with the sycamores will always give you that feeling of him. Plus…..how cool to think of Zacheus climbing that tree to see Jesus. Hugsies!! 💛💛💛
