Way back in the 1950's there was a first floor. As kids we used to play hide and seek. We never defaced the building back then. The bowl shaped depressions had metal grills for hay to be held for the horses to feed from. The stables were on either side on the ground floor.
There were rooms on the first floor. The first floor was all interconnected. Such a shame it has been so vandalised.

Thank you for the information, the bowl shaped depressions had me wondering. I thought the stables were next to the clock. Your explaination seems more reasonable and you were there when the place wasn't so run down so know quite a bit more about the history. ATB, Damian

I tell you what mate! This video is as good if not better than anything I've watched on the history channel. So professionally put together and I would presume on only a fraction of the budget it costs to make some of the crap on the history channel!
So engrossing from start to end!
You're a real star my friend!

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the UK except maybe one of the Scottish islands - Northumberland is well underpopulated and I like it that way.
Great video and a really neat camp too - very well hidden.
I was expecting to see you swinging a metal detector at the end while walking through that very likely looking field, lol

Hi Damian, i found your channel a few months ago, and obviously i had to subscribe haha. I have recently moved to Northumberland from Liverpool. I lived in Ashington but am now in Choppington. I used to wild camp years ago and can't wait to wild camp in Northumberland. The videos you make are so interesting, you have a great knowledge of Northumberland, as well as wild camping. I loved this video in particular as i love the history of old buildings. Your stealth camping was cool too, i've never used a bivvie because like you said it can seem a bit claustrophobic. But still i think i might try it in the future as yours looked totally camoflauged. I've watched quite a few of your videos and like the ones when you camp in Harwood forest. Anyway sorry for going on, haha. Keep up the great work, your videos are amazing and well presented, love listening to the various stories you tell about this area, good stuff. ATB, Marie.

I've really missed your videos. What a magnificent mansion and estate that was. It's a shame it had to be torn down, but at least we get to see the remaining structures. And you're right, people don't build like that anymore. As a history buff, I simply adore when you add history to your camping videos, giving me two things I love in one video. And you're a great narrator on the history of the area. Love the ghost stories.

Damien your best video yet! What a shame those lovely buildings are being left to rot, but compared to the shite we build these days they will last some more. Poison ivy and sycamore trees are a delapated buildings nightmare I know! Surely Cresswell Hall should be snapped up for a Grand design project, what a waste and the structure looks strong enough considering the time it's been left delapated. So Damien are you in contention to replace Ant and Dec, your channel must be up there lol. All the best, Mark 'wild is best'

I remember my nan used to make me oxo drinks. Just last week I got the wife to pick up a jar of bovril so I can take on trips, ideal hot drinks.

Thanks for all the hard work you put into this including amazing drone footage. You got me a bit worried when you said the Snugpack Stratosphere isn't that waterproof because I'm planning to buy the Ionosphere. Do you know if the same applies to that? Hope not!

You mis-understood me in the video, the Stratosphere is fully waterproof. If I remember right, the water had pooled on the bottom of the bivi on a flat spot and was concerned it might leak through the outer membrane if left like that. I now pack clothes down the bottom of the bivi so water runs off and doesn't pool on the surface. I've never had problems with water ingress and would think the Ionosphere will be similar as I've only heard good things about Snugpack products. Thanks for watching.

Good to see you back! Nice video and production! But are you a wild camper AND a Historian? Or are you just genuinely interested in History as topic itself? (Like the combo)
