Sorry but someone with a stammer or speech impediment shouldn't have to take a speaking exam providing they have medical evidence from a speech therapist etc. The exam board could have got him to write a speech to see how he uses emotive/persuasive language. You wouldn't ask someone in a wheelchair to do a PE exam
Musharaf is now a self employed motivational speaker. He achieved 3 distinctions at his college and went on to do Broadcast Journalism at the University of Huddersfield. What an absolute legend.
My goodness, that moment when Musharaf reads through the poem while listening to music and smiled with pride at the end, I swear I went and had a proper cry. It was beautiful.
ami king I mean like during conversation when a person with a stammer tries to talk. I know someone who has a stutter and he hates it when people finish his sentence for him even if he is close
Without a doubt, this is THE most emotional episode I've ever watched in all of the Educating series. I love the fact that Mr. Burton never ever gave up on Musharaf! Fantastic teacher!
As a teen with a stammer, the story of Musharaf is so inspiring. I struggle hugely with my speaking but the teachers at school were so supportive and I'm now taking a level French with speaking and although I frequently stammer during speaking, the examiners and teachers are so patient with me and give me lots of time to finish my sentence. As a result, I have become so much more confident in my speaking and I now am much more at ease when I'm speaking in front of people, regardless of if I stammer or not.
What an amazing school this is, credit to the teachers. 34 years on this planet and ive never cried for joy until listening to musharaf speak when he first put those headphones on. Really hope he is doing great in life!
Why would anyone want to tease him for having a stammer 🥺, I always cry when he gives his speech, I love when he says he is going to miss everyone even though so many people were mean to him😞
I really like at 35:50 where Musharaf takes time to say thank you to the teacher for the help he's currently getting. He didn't have to do that, particularly with the stammer. It's a very mature choice for a sixteen year old.
My eldest boy has selective mutism and autism. He went to the primary school I worked at. The worst thing you can do is push them to speak or congratulate them if they do. One morning a TA said hello to him and he smiled at her, she walked off and muttered " it's ok I'm used to being ignored" I could have punched her
Wow, sounds like she shouldn't be allowed near children. Can't stand people like that being teachers. If you don't care and you can't be bothered to care about individual children find another career!

@@sophiefrancis8295 So many teachers here are quitting that we are getting close to an educational crisis. It doesn't help that students are much more disrespectful than in the past.

As a former teacher in the US, we need more teachers and support staff like this all over. Tears and more tears as this student overcame such obstacles; everyone of the teachers and support staff supported him and encouraged him and told him that he could do it and he did. I am proud of him, and he seemed so proud of himself.

As an American, this is such a cultural shock..Teachers here are so distant and quite formal, or at least that has been my experience. Even with my mentors, it was always a polite but distant relationship. Very interesting.
It's interesting to hear you say that. I'm Scottish; I can't think of a moment quite as "hollywood" as shown here, but I couldn't have described any of my teachers as distant or formal (or, tbf, polite in some cases).
I also have a stammer, although it's more of a anxiety thing as if I was in a room by myself I'd be able to speak perfectly and the more comfortable I am with someone the less I stammer.

Ok which algorithm tricked me to watch the again. And cry again. Well done to him and the first speech when you could see his teacher shed so much weight and stress and fill up. Makes me hope and worry for my own kids and then that it works out for them
I dont get why its required to have 20% of his mark from 10 minute speech, when its obvious he is physicaly not able to do it. They should required from him some extended knowledge in other direction of that subject, but asking him to speech is like asking one handed man to work with wheelbarrow.
