    Dave, I've still got, still listen to and still learn from your first upload of this. I kept the whole series you did on the master Mr Green and i honestly watch it more often than anything else! In fact it was those videos that i stumbled on that made me aware of your lessons and iv'e never regreted one second of it!! Not one! I even commented to you on the time my wife and I sat with Peter after a gig in Ayr for over two hours. It was brilliant. A very very humble man. A real nice gentleman. This has made my night. Thank you. You nail his playing perfectly. Peace and respect as usual Dave from ayrshire Scotland.☮️ Keep rocking my friend.

    Dunno whether this adds to the Green ethos but I had to drop off something for Mike Vernon at CBS Studios in Bond Street (where he was working for a few days). As I walked into the Control Room FM were working on the backing tracks to "Albertross". The studio was very dark but I noticed Pete sitting on a stool holding his Les Paul with a sub '59 Strat at his feet (two tone, maple neck). The other thing was that the room was filled with Orange amps and 4x12's.. Mike asked me if I wanted to hang out for the evening as it was "going to get interesting" but to my eternal chagrin - I couldn't because I had a very hot date that night.... As of now I cannot remember her name, which somehow makes it worse! Best, Pete. PS One of the licks you mention was used by Eric at the start of "Have you ever loved a Woman" (2nd take; off the Derek and the Dominoes album, "Layla". Peter loved Eric and probably still does).

      Sorry I need to explain my spelling of Albertross for Albatross. for some reason, lost in the mists of time we always referred to this piece as Albert Ross. Stupid and it always trips me up when I talk/write about it fifty years later.... Best, Pete.

      A compressor... there is one called the sustainer by t-rex but it is not easy to find.

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure i am using a pedal here. I think its just the Orange CR120. :)

    • @jacko717
      @jacko717 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As others have said, a compressor will help, but mostly it's sheer volume. If like me however, you're a bedroom guitarist and don't want to upset your neighbours, I use a treble booster into a tubescreamer, and that give a fair amount of sustain at a 'reasonable' volume level.

      I love the riffs you play around the 29.50 mark. Do you have a tutorial for that?

  • @natrelacoustix
    @natrelacoustix 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mr Dave sir. Is that guitar you're using a standard Vintage V-100 with the old body to neck contour. The only reason I ask is the Lemon drop re-issue V-100 has the reverse kneck pickup and yours seems standard. Sorry if you've answered this in a previous video I'm new here... That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
