Me and my sister started calling our mom by her middle name later in life. I think it was because we were bored calling her mom, ma, and mommy, and her middle name was cool because it was a bit archaic and sweet: Carmela. How cool is that. But whenever i got her a card i always addressed it "Mom."
That is a really cool name! I remember for a brief time, and I don't even remember who started it, or why, but my sister and I called my mom "lady." I don't think she was thrilled by it, but she humored us and replied. Okay, I'm going to just start using "Dad" from now on.
