Huge inspiration Mr.palmer , I passed my journeyman’s and electrical contractors exams first try also in 2024 at 25 years of age . For anyone that hasn’t taken there journeyman exam yet because you feel like you won’t pass and it will be a waist of time then you are wrong! don’t let anyone get you down and kill your motivation for taking the exams . Always remember that your boss, co workers and even best friends don’t want you to pass the exam so it’s always best to stay quiet and lock the f**k in. Study your ass off boys . Anything is possible in this life. If you want it then go get it . Simple as that .

Lol I see you as a young me. I also became a Licensed Electrical Contractor at 22 years old. And in North Carolina as well. (Jackson County) I passed on my first try in the 80's. That was in 1984 !!! My license number was in the 11 thousands way back them. Wow, that was A LONG TIME AGO ! I became a General Contractor in the 90's and I retired in 2020. I wish you nothing but the best as you go forward in life and career. And I'll be checking in to see how you're doing. Good luck my friend !! Godspeed !

Congratulations man, I am 23 and also live in nc-ws. I have been in the trade almost 4 years. I am about to graduate my local apprenticeship program, I’m looking forward to taking my electrical license test soon. You are on the path I want to be on, I look forward to keeping up with your videos and learning from you. As a young guy with high standards it’s good to see another young person putting in the work and quality. I wish you nothing but good luck. Keep your head up I know it can be stressful.

I’d say starting a business of any sort in your early 20’s is a pretty big deal man. Stay humble and stay within your means, I learned the hard way how hard it is to find good help that not only shows up regularly, but also does good work. I got caught in a middle ground where I had several employees but I was still working in the field while trying to manage others. Stay small or get big enough where you can just manage, don’t get stuck in between. Keep on keeping on brother!

The night takeaway here is you showed up tried and were went for more. Anyone who does thoes 3 things can live well. Oregon has some crazy high requirements too and it's why I keep it residential and limited and well (lme). Look forward to more work videos and good man not getting employees. If you counted hourly they get more than me 😆.

Almost moved to NC. My mom live out there, Mebane. She has a few houses out there and was going to let me stay on one. Thought about getting my license out there. But things didn’t happen that way. So I’m still in NJ and working towards m license here.

Can you make a video on pricing for your area? Doesn’t have to be specific but just general ranges for different jobs. Maybe some you’ve done etc.

It’s interesting to hear how it works in other countries, we have a pretty similar system in Sweden as you have in North Carolina when it comes to electricians being licensed. There’s very few electricians that are certified, my dad has been one for 50+ years and he’s not qualified. He’s actually running his business on my license since I got certified.
To be qualified we need to be schooled as electricians which normally takes 3 years and after that you need 5 years of practical work to be able to get certified. To become certified you need pass a number of exams that are available from different schools and they vary in quality. To be certified for working on current >1500V AC you need to have worked for 2 year (could be wrong on this) out of the 5 years.

one thing you forgot to mention was the questions where you need to do math you write the question number on the paper and go back to it after you answer all the multiple choice. in general write and skip the questions that are a bit difficult

Are you hiring apprentices or just people that wanna learn? I’ve been reading a NRI electricians course that I got from my dad, would love to see what this career has. I am in college at ECU and on my last semester but would love to see what this trade could give me. I’d say you and me are very similar with wanting to know how things work and the strive to learn as much as one can to fix things and use. Just a question that I have for you!
